Thanks for making these videos! I think there are a lot of drummers who love vintage cymbals. And I can't believe that the 90's have already become a vintage period. Even though, when someone asks me about 1994 for example, there is a part of me that thinks that was only 10 years ago. I'm 40 now😂
I can't believe the 90's is already vintage, bit like me really old and slightly mouldy. I do enjoy making these vidos especially for people like you who do appreciate them.
That is gorgeous! I’ve got 15” and 18”, similarly crusty, similarly luscious. I always keep an eye out for other sizes for sale - they come up not infrequently but it always seems to be when I’m broke. From what I’ve read, if it’s designated ‘Thin’ or ‘Medium Thin’ and is pre-serial, that dates production to around 1993-1994.
I have another on its way but really want a nice 18”, I had one years ago that was landed as thin but was more like a Z rock crash than a dark crash in. And yep you are spot on with the year on these as I bought mine in about 94.
That is a GEM. I love my K Dark Thins. That era was just the best. All of mine are block letter. I've got two 16", an 18" and a 19" brilliant. The 19" is beautiful but he's reserved for when I need a big gun. He's downright Wagnerian. The 18" is probably my favorite because he's really dry, with just enough of that sweet stuff. My two 16s are a study in irony. The heavier one is actually darker than the lighter one(!)
That is one nice setup especially as they were all block letters, I am a little jealous. Cymbals can be as you know very mysterious even when you follow the tradition of thinner is darker and lower in tone I've had cymbals that are thick and heavy and are very dark and dry.
