It's wild to me how in America, you don't have anything older than 300 years outside of native stuff. Over here we have pubs and houses that are claimed to date back to the 1100s, and it's plausible. On the flipside, the US has an amount of geography that's hard to even imagine.

I think about this constantly. It also puts into perspective how badly we've destroyed the beautiful land we *do* have. 300 years and we have done an absolute number on the place.

When you guys were joking about the union sparing stuff because it looked cool, that's essentially what Sherman did with Savannah Georgia during the march to the sea. I lived in Savannah for a couple years and you'd just casually pass by a ton of buildings that look like they'd come from anywhere between the Revolutionary War and Gone With the Wind.

There was a corner store and Chinese takeout restaurant nextdoor to each other one block from my highschool. The takeout place sold a side of Peanut noodles for $1 and I would pair that with a can of Faygo root beer and some candy for less than $3. If I felt bougie I'd get a can of Monster. On that note, does anybody remember Über Monster? That german-beer styled Monster? Look it up if you havent, that thing was a pain to open.

We had a "Snack Bar" in middle school that was outside the cafeteria. They served all kinds of snacks as well as Dominoes pizza and cheesy bread. I'd get two slices of pizza and a Gatorade like everyday. So much so that the lunch lady there would recognize me every time I'd show up.
