How does randomly allocating participants reduce participant variables ?

Good question. If different participants are used in each condition you are comparing different people. This means that participant variables are not controlled. This means individual differences between the participants in the conditions could ruin the results and act as extraneous or confounding variables. Random allocation attempts to evenly distribute participant characteristics across the conditions of the experiment using random techniques. Hope that helps.
