You've discovered one of the very best things about America - our natural beauty. I always see people coming to visit LA or NY, but those cities aren't really representative of our country. So happy to see you guys visiting the southwest and some of the more rural parts of the US. In case you were curious, those deer are called mule deer, or "mulies" for short, and are native to the western states -- and as you saw, they're literally everywhere in Utah.
Oh wow! My husband and I were at Zion National Park on the day before you posted this video! December 8th. It poured like crazy early that evening and we still were driving around and I couldn’t believe all the waterfalls we saw! It was our first time there. We were in Park City, Utah first for a few days, it snowed a lot over there. The next day was this day sunny and bright, which must be the same day you made this video. We were told that it’s good to visit there off season because the Summer time is too busy and too hot. I’m so happy you both got to see all that natural beauty!
I've been following Josh and Ashley almost since the beginning and now follow you as well. You need to see Yellowstone and Glacier Nat. Parks and the PNW! Great shots of Zion and the Antelope Canyon in the last vid!
The national parks are incredible! Zion is one of the most popular national parks, but I don't know that you can pick out a "best" one. I guess it's a matter of opinion. There are more than 60 national parks, by the way. :)
I love Zion. One of my top 3 National Parks. :) Did the observation point hike...tough/long hike but the views on top were great. Yosemite and Sequoia are nice ones to visit too. You should get a National Parks Passport. Stamp all the parks you've been too at the visitor centers...makes you want to visit all of them. I need to try going to the parks in a van/RV too.
Not only are those cacti not poisonous, they're edible! The green pads should be cooked, but they're like green beans. The best part thought is the fruit in late summer. Kinda like tart kiwifruit or strawberries. Literally a pain to prepare, though.
Your comment about NP is spot on. I feel this way about other countries too. I want to see the nature of countries as much, or more, as the cities and towns.
The lack of crowds led me to a bit of quick internet research: Zion Nat'l Park 229sq. miles (590 km2), 4+ million annual visitors, approx 0 permanent residents. Disney World (Florida, USA) 39 sq miles (101 km2), 52 million visitors, approx 0 perm res. Greater London (for perspective) 607 sq miles (1572 km2), 20.4m overnight visitors, 280m day trippers, approx 8m residents. We always look forward to your videos! Venison is delicious if you get the chance.
Zion is a beautiful park. So glad y'all enjoyed it. Another park you should see in Utah is Bryce Canyon. It would be hard for me to choose between the two, I get so tickled when Alex gets so excited about the wildlife as I always did the same. Enjoy your travels and stay safe!!
Thoroughly enjoy your videos! So glad you are enjoying our National Parks. Too many Americans take them for granted. We often forget how blessed we are. I've been visiting the various Parks for over 50 years. Still a few I haven't seen. Now that I'm retired, I'm planning a 4-5 month road trip in 2020 to see how many more I can see. Continued safe travels!
Wow. Happy to see you’re enjoying your van life! The landscape looks fantastic 😍 the shuttles looks really great and Disney vibe 😁 you’re the first person we know that has a list of birds to see 😁 fabulous!
So nice to see our beautiful south west and western usa through your eyes. Forces us to appreciate again how stunning and diverse our states are. Also amazing how you got such great animal life clips. Thanks for this Wonderful share, James and Kim
Hey, just started watching your videos! Incredible something me and my fiancée have always wanted to do! Lovely couple, great editing, but I cannot help to say your videos would have just had the wow factor with drone footage clipped into a lot of these places! It would add another dimension to all your amazing videos. We will continue watching!
Our US travel bureaus should hire you two. Your enthusiasm is so heartwarming and refreshing. Pity that some park lands are being sold but I pray that changes after our next election. I wish I could give your videos multiple likes.
I hope so too.. these places are too precious 💛 can't wait to see more of the US next time.. feel like we've only scratched the surface of what there is to see
Your videos are bringing back so many great memories from a road trip I did 2 years ago during this same time of year where I traveled from Arches National Park to Zion over 2 weeks. If the sky is clear at night, I highly recommend that you take advantage of the fact that the National Parks are open 24 hours and in most cases far from the light pollution of cities. I went to Arches after dark to do some long exposure photos and seeing that many stars in the sky in the setting of the park was a spiritual experience.
Love your vlogs guys .... Started watching you two when I wanted to do California road trip . Now been back many times , especially loved Yosemite . Zion looks epic .... Look forward to future vlogs 👍🏻🇬🇧
I believe those are beavertail cacti that you filmed. I'm impressed that your camera was able to capture the majestic beauty of Zion National Park. Many videos I've seen can't seem to do it.
Emma, The cactus you were looking at with the flat pads is a prickly pear, produces a fruit that some people eat. The one you modeled with the upright arms is a saguaro. Hard to believe this video was four years ago. My how life has changed. Little Noah, for one :)
you need to come to Fort Clinch State Park on Amelia Island Florida (just north of Jacksonville). Deer everywhere. River on one side of park and beach on other. Beautiful campground... I would stay on river side (more shaded)
those deer are Mule Deer a western Deer species...and we call male deer... bucks...not stags....blimey lol....glad you saw this young nations beauty granted us from time immemorial...keep on trucking....
So beautiful is America, we are from South Africa and have visited some of the parks that you have filmed. America is such a vast land and truly spectacular. The people are so friendly, positive and energetic. We also appreciate the "order" that the police have provided to make it so safe for tourists.
it's actually called a Mule Deer Buck not a stag. named because of his ears. and then there is the whitetail which has a huge tail and smaller ears. both animals are very impressive and majestic. and in the park they are protected,..but believe me,.. they are not fed or taken care of,..they are wild animals in their wild habitat. They feed themselves and water. if a cougar attacked them no ranger would stop him. again you are in a wild place with wild animals. it is their home you are visiting. not a petting zoo so approach with care and keep your distance. wild animals are very unpredictable.
Zion is one of my favorite National Parks; however, if at all possible, you should visit Glacier National Park in northwestern Montana. I really enjoy your videos.
I’m from St George Utah and live 45 minute away from Zion, me and my friends go there all the time oh and in Utah we say Zion differently than the rest of the US haha
i'm 73 and grew up in Utah and our National Parks were wide open and no waiting line and no people either. The country had half of the population and the out doors was not as popular as it is now is. Both my parents lived on farms growing up and they wouldn't be interested in seeing more nature as they lived it. Seeing a city was what people wanted to see.
Guess I spoke too soon in Instagram! Glad you guys are having a fabulous time. We did a 10,000 mile road trip across the states last year and were totally blown away!
@@TravelBeans, I think the thing that surprised us most is the diversity and the hugeness of our country. We particularly enjoyed visiting the historic sites of the east coast and the southern states. It's such a different world than what we are use to on the west coast.
I love you guys for appreciating the big (and small) wildlife! I am a geek like that too! Beautiful shots of a beautiful park! Looking forward to the next episode!
Those cacti are in the Opuntia genus. Both the fruit and the paddles of opuntias are edible, although the genera aren't all equally tasty. The one most commonly grown for food is Opuntia ficus-indica. I think the ones you saw are O. englemannii. The fruit are called prickly pears (or tunas in Spanish), and the paddles (called nopales) are fairly common in Mexican food. Not only do you have to be careful of the spines when picking or preparing these foods, but there are little hairs at the base of each spine that stick in your skin and cause irritation. The cacti with their arms sticking out are saguaros (Carnegiea gigantea).
Thank you for your video, I had visited Zion park 8 years ago but I enjoyed seeing the places that I didn’t go to in your video and I , as usual, enjoyed watching the most beautiful couple with their beautiful smiles and beautiful soles , I hope to see you in your next video soon
Dear Kara and Nate! I like your "The Endless Adventure" ! So nice to see you are finally pregnant. I can't get over you can not hear you guys are from Perth! Actually everybody seems to say you look like Ronaldo! I dont think so. And the girl is always so positive! I really appreciate you always choose to eat the gourmet food in small bites as hot as served. I love your red hair but your voice is a bit squeeky. Maybe the pony tail hair is not the hottest hairdo for a guy. ? Which one of you two is Ashley? And when are you revealing what will be your 100th country? I just know it is Disneyland!
Oh I know.. sequoia np is definitely one of the best places I've ever seen (Emma here). Seeing the giant sequoias was such a dream come true for me. We went a few years ago and we did make some videos there but hardly anyone has watched those older vids..
Well, you did manage to find one of the top ones. If you visit the US again, Yellowstone National Park is, well, absolutely the best thing America has to offer in terms of national parks. Another great one is the Red Woods in California. Really amazing.
Going there next year in April. We stopped there last year for a bit when we were in Grand Canyon. Always great videos and happy that you both experience our beautiful National Parks.
I started following your channel when you were in the Philippines. You should try to make it a point to film the Philippines Eagle in the wild. It is different and much bigger than the American Bald Eagle. It should be in your Top 3.
Lovely video, absolutely fantastic. I've accidentally stepped on a cactus as a child. Those little prickly needles get into your skin, feels like getting a splinter. To get them out requires a pair of tweezers. It's so painful.
@@TravelBeans.. I must suggest a trip in May. If you take a drive through Cade's Cove at night, you'll see thousands of synchronized fireflies as far as your eye can see.
Hey Travel Beans, if you are in NYC on Christmas, you are official invited to my sister's house for dinner. You may not recover, but it will be great food and drink.
Those cacti are prickly pears and are edible! The thorns are scraped off and then cooked. They’re delicious! They’re sold in some supermarkets in the West.
"Zion: America's Best National Park?" -- It's great, but please try Glacier National Park in Montana (check first to see if roads to the park are not snowed in, although they clear quickly).
Bucks are usually smaller less dominant males and stags are the largest dominant males that do most of the breeding, in UK deer populations are managed as there are no natural predators so there is usually 1 big stag to a herd that gets most of the girls the rest of the boys(bucks) have to wait till they're big enough to take him on...... Your welcome
Loving all the amazing nature shots however am giving RU-vid a miss currently because the torry party seem to have paid millions to interrupt every bloody video I choose to watch with there 'get Brexit done' nonsense
