I've got one and I love it. I like that it uses flints and not that piezo nonsense. The metal construction seems substantial and robust. I do wish they made a 90° pipe version and I wish it was a little more wind resistant but it is still a wonderful insert. Also a gold or brass version would be welcomed. Rock on Zippo.
Glad you like it! Like other butane lighters, this is not considered truly windproof; that honor is reserved for the classic Zippo windproof lighter. 🔥
Yes. Just regular flints. That's one of my favorite things about it. I don't like the piezo crystal ignition that some lighters have. When they fail they're done. Can't change em out in most models. Whereas with the flints you just pop a new one in and you're good to go. I like that.
happy to finally see an insert with a soft flame and it looks beautiful. It would be even more amazing if available for the slim, same as the torch flame plz make them for the slim.🙏 I don‘t wanna miss out… As Improvements maybe put a little window on the side which indicates how much fuel u have left and a regulator for flame size since its a little huge. lol kind regards from austria
Great to see you’re now offering soft flame butane inserts, but I would like to see improvements so it can function more like the Vector Thunderbird soft flame inserts. Still likely going to order this the next time I can when the new Ottawa Senators cases are available in Canada.
And especially if you don't smoke. I only need mine occasionally to aid in soldering etc. and the petrol had evaporated away almost every single time I needed it. This insert has finally brought my zippo back to use and it's awesome!
Wanted to buy one, to replace the Vector Thunderbird. But you cannot control the flame size, while the Thunderbird can. Watch/read other reviews: which flame size you get is completely random, made in China "with ZIPPO quality".

Fyi: some users are experiencing some issues with the Cam spring, myself included. The cam is sticking (I have had mine for about 10 days), a user on RU-vid has found a little grease or oil [tooth pick amount] keeps the cam from sticking.

That same user (ZippoFanaticOutdoors77) is also scamming people for Zippo's / Zippo accessories. He gets USA citizens to send him 4-6 Zippo's across the Canadian border because he thinks they cost too much. He voids the warranty by "etching" whatever the person wants onto them (nudity, cartoons, characters, etc & keeps the other Zippo's for his service. Frank is aware. He also put windowmaker on blast, a very big customer of Zippo. It's a scummy system he's got going on. On top of that.. he's so egotistical that he believes his opinions & video's sell thousands of Zippo products. He literally thinks Zippo should be sending him stuff along with USA citizens. Because he thinks they are too overpriced in his country.
I bought two, but they are a little defective. the lever that opens and closes the upper part of the case locks in mid-position, which is why it becomes necessary to unlock it manually. Some youtubers recommend applying a little silicone oil between the lever cam and the plastic the cam slides on. Are there other solutions as well?

Yes these take the same fuel as triple flame torch lighters for cigars. It's just a less intense flame like a Bic lighter. Perfectly good for cigars. No fuel taste.
Good stuff Zippo! I really enjoy your single torch insert, but I've been looking for a soft flame insert as well. I didn't want to purchase non-original, so this makes me happy. Ordering one asap. Also just found out today about this insert :)
Barely lasts a third as much as a bic lighter, the anti-wind ones even less so, can't monitor how full it is during use. It's a luxury made in china item, that feels odd.
Love my Soft Flame Yelloe insert...from the trusted vendor "windowmaker". It's perfect for my 1941 Black Crackle. Is there anyway to adjust the flame (even if it voids the warranty?). That lack of flame adjustment is literally the only thing I would change. And maybe metal under that cam instead of plastic. Anyway. Thanks for the awsome products Zippo !!!
Great fit and finish but there is a huge drawback in my opinion. I really wish the cam would release the butane like the competitors models do. It makes it much easier to light items like cigars, camp stoves, and candles.

Too bad this insert is garbage and doesn't light consistently. You guys even sent me a replacement with the same issues. Stick to making traditional lighters. this yellow insert is unusable garbage.
Got one, the insert is not so fit so i have to use two sheets of paper cover it to make it fit, yet is the least windproof zippo, i wouldnt call it windproof. Still love it though
