@@leon24832 I honestly had a sinking suspicion through lore introduced in Shadowbringers that it was gonna be like this... That Zodiark was just a weight bearing load that was borne of the right intentions that was executed very poorly.
Honestly though, it was one of the best ways they could do it. He was the big bad guy and it was grandiose. And then there was more. Then everything got bigger real quick but the pacing was done well.
God, this was such a shock to the system that all of his battle quotes are permanently stuck in my mind. I still hear "MINE ALL MINE" and "ALL OF CREATION BEND TO MY WILL" everytime I close my eyes
When I stood there facing the opponent I had to fight for this trial I was in awe. It was like, “oh my god, the devs have actually done this” this is the proper way to subvert expectations
Honestly, I thought that was neat. Same with the little fight at the end. They also did some good interactions with the Scions, but as always Krile was left behind. My popoto ended up being the sole representative of its race at the end. The final boss came out of fricking nowhere, no foreshadowing at all and no way to detective your way about it.
Day 2 of Endwalker release and people were already uploading the music but with the boss's face as the thumbnail. So yeah, imagine how I felt at 87. Not surprised. Bleh.
As a fun note, the previous two expansions used the Final Boss theme of their expansion in the final trailer before each expansion's launch. When I heard this theme in the final trailer before launch, I liked what I heard and thought it was going to be a good boss theme. Turns out, not only did it not end up being the final boss theme, but we had actually been hearing part of the final boss theme since the first announcements. Fitting, in its own way.
This definitely gave 2nd or 3rd Trial vibes, which ironically means I was not expecting this theme for this boss since I was very confident Zodiark was the 1st trial. When the darkness broke and this kicked up I was "Huh..." For reference, I was expecting Moon starting at 85 and 1st trial Zodiark delayed until late 85ish. You're right though, regardless of which you consider the final boss theme (Footfalls solo duty or either Final Day phase), we heard them too.
Ah yes, the WILL YOU LIVE TO SEE THE END? and ALL OF EXISTENCE BENT TO MY WILL! soundboard. Cool of them to add a fight to it. In all seriousness, this was such an awesome fight and moment. I was floored when this was just level 83.
When I first did this, all I could think was "Is this a scripted fight we're all supposed to lose as a team?" Didn't feel like it was the right time to fight him.
I fought him for the first time yesterday (as of typing this) First trial? Really? I have no idea where this story is going to go. Freaking love this game
*** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** 10 years and woops, you've being chasing the wrong guy... I was expecting to fight him in the final patch of endwalker, having to face him at 83, it was beyond my imagination how it could get any better and continue the hype... I was clearly not prepared for how crazy and awesome things were about to get
As a tank , tanking this , I was in such panic mode , I made the team wiped twice , I didn't know I had to LB 3 in this , but it was a fun experience , as hearing this song , gives me that kind of energy , that motivation , I was so surprised that we did it at the end. I love it. (Or I was wrong , I remember one of the trails we had to LB3.)
@@Kumiko026 Yep , that's why I'm scared to choose Healer as higher levels , because I know I won't be able to heal people as fast as I can. I feel you QwQ
Listening through Husky by the Geek covers, and now realising that a ton of Endwaler Leitmotifs are sprinkled in the music. From the Midboss Dungeon theme (Of Blades Edge) to Finality (Babil boss theme) to Endcaller and more, the leitmotifs from Footfalls are there, hinting to us, I feel, that Tales of Loss and fire and faith are incoming, but its never too late to forge ahead. Those are the common two Im hearing
I feel so bad for fandaniel. He was basically born with a fragment of the soul of hermes. He couldn't get away from that part of his personality or destiny. Imagine constantly feeling like the world needs to be destroyed and doesn't deserve to keep existing, and it all dates back to something an older version of yourself did and thought ages ago.
You do realise it pretty much says that the Fandaniel we know is literally just Amon with Hermes' memories(minus a certain few), but none of his personality right? His whole motivation was to fulfil Xande's wish of all life dying.
@@Sivrn-Val his super depression is very very heavily rooted in hermes' personality, the softie we grew to know. its genuinely impossible for someone as emotional and empathetic as hermes to stay sane after so many millennia of mental torture. he is VERY MUCH still hermes in ways. it is stated word for word (ableit phrased as a "theory" from g'raha) that souls have personalities late in the expansion
Fandaniel is Hermes, Fandaniel make the choice of challenging the world and wiping his memory. The one we been chasing and the one that we supposed to feel bad for is Amon, who got so corrupted by Fandaniel decision he decided to becomes Zodiark.
This battle took me literally a half a dozen FULL 90 minute atttempts. By the time I beat it, I wasn't getting hit by anything I shouldn't have, had the follow me dorito, and carried the team. As a SAM. I hated this fight so damned much.
Here's something interesting: all previous expansions' launch trailers had the final boss theme in it. Yes, every one. Endcaller was used in the launch trailer instead for Endwalker. I know they didn't want to spoil the final boss surprise, but at the time that decision made it sound like Endcaller was supposed to be the final boss. And it absolutely fit the bill.
This was EPIC AF when I first heard this track, so early in the expansion too, literally felt like you were about to face off against the hardest thing you’ve ever fought ever.
I kinda want an ultimate where he isn't still partially fragmented (Has all his limbs). And I'd still want fandaniel involved somehow because his lines go really hard.
This was such a fun fight. We wiped SO many times but I was laughing and smiling the whole time because it was just humorous and fun at the same time. Maybe a tad stressful xD
I feel like everyone forgot how cool this trial was. I honestly remember this fight more than the endsinger tbh, as much as I hated Fandaniel he sure was memorable.
I love this fight, and it's definitely my second favourite of the expansion but riding on shinryu's back was the icing on the cake for making endsinger just barely above it xP. And obviously the second trial was my third xD All the trials were godlike imho.
I honestly felt bad for Zodiark and the Ascians. He's finally reborn after ages of effort and doesn't get a single drop of free will, not even a chance to maybe parley and reconcile, before being vanquished.
Fandaniel/Asahi/Hermes was definitely the main villain of ff14 in a way , not Metion or Zenos. Metion was an experiment gone wrong and zenos was....well best boy.
Of course the final boss is going to be more epic that the first trial lol, what do you expect. It'd be worrying if the first trial were more epic than the last one.
