Zoey 102 Was EXTREMELY Unnecessary... 

First I did not watch yet

I enjoyed the original show because it was the only show that didn't use a laugh track.

The problem with reboots is that they rarely capture what made the originals special

I enjoyed the movie so I don't think it was unnecessary but yeah it wasn't as good the original show. Also if we are talking about unnecessary things what about the new icarly

Another reason I won't watch the movie, I don't mind they don't interact with Logan, but Chase and Michael are tight close friends, so it doesn't make any sense for me what happened.

I never went back to recap before watching the movie but this makes a lot of sense. It felt like Zoey’s character was flatlined and a bit lost and kinda took away the meaning of adding to her character development. A lot of the other characters such as Logan and the other friends who were hunting for the murderer is what carried the movie the whole way and didn’t make it boring. The movie was entertaining but both Zoey and chase chemistry felt lackluster compared to the show.

It honestly just feels like some random cheap rom-com with the Zoey 101 brand being lazily tacked on last minute. Missing literally all the charm from the original.

Almost forgot about that, would’ve been ideal to include in the movie whether it be she’s working in the fashion industry or struggling to find a job in fashion

@@vicentegeonix I ended up writing a wall text I figured I would just shorten it here: TLDR: On Zoey 101, the star and her on-screen best friend did not get along. The creator of the TV show made Alexa feel uncomfortable and has been accused of inappropriate behavior with other former child stars. The creator of this show also made Jennette McCurdy feel uncomfortable and was inappropriate with them both. Sadly this is nothing new on Nickelodeon. -Long Answer Alexa and Jamie Lynn Spears did not get along. The producers of the show kept trying to keep her quiet when she felt uncomfortable. She did not need to be besties with Jamie but even though she would say how different things made her uncomfortable no one would listen. They used to make her wear short skirts with biker shorts underneath and then cut the biker shorts because they were too long for the short skirt. Plus Dan Schneider the creator of most Nickelodeon shows decided to watch her doing her fittings while she was just on the other side of the curtain as a 13-year-old girl. And then would ask for the pictures after. Usually, they don't do both. As Alexa got older and did other shows she found out some of the way she was treated as a child on that show was inappropriate. But mainly she left because no one would take her seriously and make her feel safe and protected while she was on that show as a 13-year-old girl. According to Alexa, Jamie Lynn Spears manipulated Britney to scream at her once. Britney has since apologized and said that Jamie Lynn Spears manipulated her. That's just scratching the surface of what happens to Alexa, as well as how he made Alexa and Jennette McCurdy feel. Just to give you a bit of info, he would massage Jennette McCurdy's shoulders and gave her alcohol, and try to make them compete with the kids on Victorious as well. It was also known that she was a young girl with an eating disorder but played a character that loves to eat and that traumatized her further. On at least one episode of Victorious and one episode of Zoey 101, Dan made sure the girls looked like they were suggestively covered by bodily fluids. For Zoey 101, one girl was supposed to squirt a liquid goo on the other girl's face and then he decided to have someone correct it to lay on her face a certain way, and the guys on the show around her jokingly stated what it looks like. I hate that I know this much about this information. I was just hoping to find out more about this show and why more of the cast wasn't returning and went down the rabbit hole. But do your own research if you want to know more. Sadly, these girls couldn't be protected from someone who had a lot of control over their lives. Looking back at the different acts Dan made the girls do with feet and the things that he made Ariana Grande do for videos on the slap (also reposted here on YT) is creepy. Even scarier when you find out that this is not the first time there was a creator of a children's TV show that was doing creepy stuff, the creator of Ren & Stimpy used his position as a well-known cartoonist on a kid's network, to contact teenage girls, bring them to the studio where all the adults knew he would date them, give them substances and berate them. Eventually, he would also draw sexy cartoons of these teenage girls. Also, I'm still creeped out over the fact that the people who worked on the original Rugrats would draw nasty drawings of Angelica and Uncle Stu and that in a SpongeBob video game, there are images of SpongeBob and Patrick doing inappropriate stuff in the code. Sorry for the wall of text but I just got more and more upset as I tried to remember everything I've heard over the past few weeks. Edit: spelling

Agreed, Lola was one of Quinn's closest friends, and she should have been present. Maybe Victoria Justice had a busy schedule, though at least they didn't throw shade at Victoria for missing the reboot.

Victoria wanted to show up but she couldn't due to her own busy schedule. The other characters that didn't return were because of issues/trama from filming the original show and because of the free Britney movement

Only reason I would watch this (which I don’t think I would) is to see Stacey. From what I heard, she seemed like a funny character and the actress playing her is really good and deserves lots of props for being brave enough to play such a character.

They made it so much worse here with the story of saying the school closed down in 2009 and throwing unnecessary dirt on Dean Rivers backstory that he used tuition money to gamble. His character might smuggle some coffee during a coffee ban. But he wasn’t THAT bad of a guy?

I get they wanted to make commentary on how as the audience got older we realized "Do they all just hang out and have fun all the time or do they actually learn?" but they threw the baby out with the bath water on that. Could have made the same comment but the school stayed open or is struggling. Was waiting for them to go full corn by having chase "Maybe PCA come back" and he wanted to be the dean and revive the school lmfao A spin off show would be fine but it mostly wrapped up any loose ends. This was a vibe until the wedding day and thats where they realized they needed to speed it up lol

For reals Victoria Justice was one of the best parts of the original series and it bums me out that she wasn't in the movie

The way icarly did it was the right way they introduced new characters while paying respect to old storylines and evolving them almost as if it’s a song type of storytelling when I heard zoey 101 was rebooting the issue is it’s been dead for so long and none of the cast did anything to keep or stay all that relevant aside from Erin(I think is her name was in big time rush) and even when icarly swore in the trailer it felt like a natural reaction anyone would’ve given to that I think the way they marketed this and just did it either this will be the end of the reboots or hopefully they’ll give us Neds reboot cause that actually makes sense for an adult hood version of that

Except, the iCarly revival was pretty good. It introduced new characters while also paying respect for fans who grew up. The iCarly team understood that fans who grew up with the show are no longer kids, so they had to make some mature themes for adult fans to enjoy and for the most part they absolutely succeed. It has some nostalgia while also managed to be it's own thing. Sam not being in the revival was definetely a big loss but honestly as much as i love her, i still like the show for what it is

@@kleinkaufman8940 That's certainly an odd decision given that Ned holds up way better than Zoey 101 as a show and not just because it's creator and star haven't been revealed to be trash in the ensuing years.

Even as someone who enjoyed the less-popular Ned's show more that Zoey back then, I can't realistically say I'd be interested in that either. I very much enjoy that they're doing a podcast, and find time to fit that in more than any other reboot that's come out to date.

Because that would make too much sense, and studio executives being what they are, it's all about hastily put together specials that attempts to snag the same spotlight from iCarly (2021) currently has, and miss what made the show so beloved in the first place, and now become a hated and soon to be forgotten footnote in the trashcan of Nickelodeon history.
