Hey Man, I think this is only my second comentary in my around 10 years of youtube, but please make a second mega tutorial on the zoia! Highly fascinating
Thank you SO much for this video, it’s super easy to understand, you go thru the steps in a way someone who’s just starting with the Zoia can manage👏✨🙏
I just bought the Euroburo a couple weeks ago and have been scrambling around on RU-vid looking for a good tutorial to understand the basics of working with it...this video has to be one of the best by far. The way you describe how to do various things with it is second to none....excellent resource for beginners, please do MORE videos on this amazing module.
Dude! You are like the Bob Ross of Synthman! This is sooooooooo easy to understand the way you present it, totally chill and encouraging like Bob Ross. You make me believe I CAN create anything! Thanks! Can't wait to get my Zoia and use it with Reaper, of COURSE!!!!!!!! Cheers!
The engineering that went into the ZOIA...my god. How they have made something so incredibly complex so user-friendly is simply amazing. Well-effing-done! And, as always, excellent vid, Cuckoo:)
Difficult to say how much I am inspired with the possibilities of this little gear! Didn't take it seriously at first due to its size and look, but damn... It's a beast and it's so unique! Total must have. And thank you Cuckoo for such a detailed tutorial. You got the vibe 🔥
Been messing with fm synths (volca fm, dexed, digitone) for a couple years and the breakdown at 37:00 explained it so clearly. The relationship btw carrier and modulator finally makes sense.
@@truecuckoo Seriously though, this platform represents such a different thing to the desktop or mobile; although the thought of giggin an entire modular set up with just this one tough little box is tempting. Actually, essential - just plug in to the PAsystem and get going. The rest of the band will love you for your speed of set up. Always though is the issue of Learning Curve. But the reward of this system justifies the time investment. An essential equation.
I don't know why I always imagine Cuckoo wearing tartan patterned slippers when recording those videos. Just the way he steps from one foot to another from excitement in the intro... Is it all natural or a good acting technique? Gotta love the guy either way!
Just got my Empress two days ago, your video the first exploration I had post-quick start guide and ... man just want to say thanks. Was a fun way to learn with you, big ups!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll have good times exploring and making stuff! They're coming out with a pretty substantial update in the near future. I'm looking forward to it so much!
@@truecuckoo well that's fantastic news - am obsessed right now - can't believe I haven't f^&*ed with this for the past 3 years - thx again - can't wait for the update!
You're tutorials have helped me work out lots of different pieces of gear. They are invaluable, and you're getting even better at them. Thankl you!! The Zoia is so cool!!
That’s standard modular...after a mind breaking amount of connections and routings, you wind up with a bunch of bleeps and bloops :) Seriously, great tutorial! Thanks so much!
Djjj! I cannot stress how much I love the sound effects you do for yourself - came for the Zoia content, but that's what pulled me in. Thanks for the tour!
This might be one of your best tutorials ever!!! I bought mine a few days ago but after watching this video a few times I'm thinking about getting another one
@@modularmountain3910 Still waiting for mine to be shipped but I might consider doing that once it settles in my current setup. I have many different sound sources I might need to effect and this thing has so many possibilities!
Jaime Díaz-Otero Núñez I got mine yesterday and it’s incredibly overwhelming. A very steep learning curve but once you get familiar with it I’m sure the possibilities will be endless. Not many pedals can become synths/grooveboxes.
Cabs are for guitar cabinets each one with each own dimensions, it's actually pretty cool, i didn't knew the Zoia have amp and cab simulations, pretty versatile
Possibly the smartest pedal on earth yet the smartest thing in this entire video filled with genius is the Mirror the simplest easiest way to for a dual camera setup with an overhead . Literally einsteinium Love these videos and I’m really looking forward to getting one
I have Ableton and I rarely play live so I don't have a real use for the ZOIA but I want it anyway. Just because of how much possibilities it seems to offer. Looks like one could easily lose a night or two putting modules together and exploring possibilities. It also looks like a memory game, remembering which colored button does what. Great tutorial btw.
Great tutorial, cuckoo. Re 11: If you want to make use of the mix control, delete the direct connection from audio input to audio output (select the connection and press the shift delete button) and then no more phasing however using this method you do lose separate output gain control.
Thanks. Yeah sure. Thad work. I prefer send-fx setups rather than mix effects though. I should’ve made my idea clearer. Also I think it served as a good example of explaining why one might wanna be careful handling several dry signals, and keep weary of unintended phasing.
Such a great tutorial! After watching a few in-depth reviews I was as impressed as intimidated (probably, as much as I could possibly be) by this "effect pedal". This video actually made me dead set on getting it.
I like the use of superimposed LCD screens in this video - makes me think the Zoia could do with some sort of projected Heads Up Display :) - I'm not a modular synth guy in the slightest, but totally understand the modular approach utilised here and succinctly demo'd - I will be using this pedal with guitar, but am wiling to experiment in every direction ...
I'm going to wait for feedback from users before I get one. Still, this is one impressive piece of kit. And to anyone who thinks this is _too expensive,_ think about how much you would have to pay for individual modules that do what this single unit is capable of. Comparatively speaking, $500 isn't bad at all.
cuckoo your def one of my favorites man. You're low key quirky and full of character without the "in your face" I'm trying to be your bff bs that makes me cringe. You also don't waste my time! Thank you!! to those reading this may seem contradictory considering this is an hour long video haha
Stellar showcase, thanks for those megatutorials, they tend to become the definitive reference for some of those devices as it is. Cheers! Hmmm quirky little DSP unit. Love the modular design, impressive array of tools and effects, and the interface seems to be reasonably efficient. Just saw you got multiple pages for patches, ...wow. Still can't help but wonder if 40 buttons are enough real estate or if it's a constant struggle to rearrange modules to fit a page. What's under the hood btw, headless raspberry running supercollider or smthg. (:
Amazing demo. Power button would be nice. This pedal is amazing. It would be cool thing to hook up to Fishman Triple play. effects, synth sith so many sounds, sequencer. All that in a tiny box.
3 questions Professor Cucks 1. Should I sell my Chase Bliss MOOD, Dark World, Warped Vinyl and Buy the Zoia. 2. Buy the Zoia anyway because you cant have too many pedals and you can get all the nutrients from baked beans. 3. Paint my keystep because nothing else is white and it's worth the effort. Your knowledge is greatly appreciated
Another great one, Cuckoo! I am a little late to the game, but I am soo tempted to get a Zoia. I'd have to sell some of my other pedals for that though. Therefore I am a bit intimidated, if the Zoia really is capable of replacing all of them..or rather, if I am capable of doing so haha
10:50 why not break the direct connection from the input to the output, reconnect the audio input to the reverb and then the reverb output to the audio out, this way you don’t have direct and processed audio phasing but rather only the processed audio (with dry/wet control through the reverb) with minute latency but without any phasing artifacts
Yeah that’d work fine. It’s the easiest way. I should’ve explained that I prefer send FX, rather than mix effects. This way I can send into the reverb, and let it ring when I stop sending to the fx.
I mean its pretty cool... Impressive actually. But I would have liked to see: 1. Double the size 2. Double the DSP 3. CV I/O 4. Dedicated Midi Port 5. At least one more pair of stereo I/O 6. SOME kind of editor
The ultimate pedal. You can use it for input from any kind of sound source. A performer's super pedal. Nice to have a few of them. Can they communucate? Could one modulated another? For example, use one for sounds and another for effects.
Is the Zoai capable of creating all the same reverb algorithms found in the Empress Reverb Pedal? Or all the same delay flavors found in their Echosystem pedal? In other words, does this pedal replace their other pedals or are you going to find more specific reverb/delay/etc options on their specific pedals?
I’ve hit 100% cpu many times. But mostly it’s when I’m doing fairly big patches. Some of the ready made FX modules take a lot of cpu on their own for instance.
