I have never had a really good episode, usually end with around like 12-15. But this one I was spot on twice and only 1 off the other two times so +4. I dont know if thats luck or maybe just some play styles are easier for some people to guess.
That was me playing and I 12 pool because I played zvz the last two games and so I was like, why don't I 12 pool lol. I knew it was a terrible game but it was funny watching harstem suffer.
I just want to do better than catz while already over catz' score this was a very hard episode tho, she did super good considering the weird games they got
17 Points today. Not a great showing...but I'm going to use ZombieGrub's excuse here: nobody can accurately guess people's ranks. With that, she's become my favorite guest so far! Harstem anchored me on a couple. One because he anchored himself, the other because I didn't pick up on his sarcasm. No excuses for my 3rd guess, because it was close. At least I beat Harstem today! . . . R1: G2 - 7 Points R2: D3 - 4 Points R3: P1 - 2 Points R4: GM - 4 Points
5:30 The reason I often do a lot of inefficient things it's because it's efficient in terms of my thoughts and actions. It's easier to batch things together than to try and time it so each thing comes out perfectly. It's also why I microwave frozen meals instead of cooking.
@@snowdrop9810 This is how Zerg players tend to do these, especially at lower levels. It's extremely difficult and taxing to try and queen inject every single hatchery if they aren't synced up and it's also more difficult to spread creep if you don't do it after you do your injects. Is it more efficient to inject and spread creep as soon as the cooldown comes up? Yeah, but you're also going to feel mentally exhausted after the game and during the game you probably have better things to be spending your mental energy on.
@@snowdrop9810 Lower level play is not about maximizing efficiency. It's about making the less harmful mistake. Supply gap instead of supply block. Under-micro instead of anti-micro. Batch macro tasks instead of forget them. If I were to try and do it perfect, what would happen is I would forget to time my 2nd gateway, and I would end up with only a single warpgate. Which will be less efficient than a single gateway, because I probably won't hit every cooldown (the queue on the gateway helps).
@@sparkleknight3679 You just agreed with me by calling it a macro "cycle". The fact that it's a cycle means that it's more efficient to let things sit off of cooldown so that they sync in order to allow you to batch them together in a cycle. If you don't batch them, your macro will be extremely chaotic.
That marauder/mine +1 armor build from game one actually makes a bit of sense for TvZ. Since marauders start with +1 base armor, getting an additional +1 armor on them reduces incoming DPS from queens and lings by 20-25%, while +1 weapons only increases their DPS by 10% (but no change in shots-to-kill on lings or banes). Between splash from mines and the +armor marauders, that blind counters most early game zerg units.
I would love to see, in the finals, some replays from BGMWSS and they have to guess Harstem's rank. particularly if you make the contestants go directly head to head against each other.
I love playing along. I'll often do really well except for 1 round where I destroy myself. I'll think somebody looks bad and guess silver, then it's diamond. At 7:09 I had committed to a guess of plat 3, and I thought that this was the one where I ruin my score when I saw Harstem guess master league. I was really excited to be right. What gave it away for me where the moments of hesitation, with neither side sure of what would happen if they engage, so they sit around for a few seconds stressing, knowing they need to do something but not knowing what.
Yooo, ZG, Harstem getting all the casters. I said it last week, the caster episodes are a lot of fun since there's always good talk happening during them. Pretty tricky episode this time around, without having any true "not that rank" weirdness.
Was surprised by the first game. Zerg build no units at all and floats? The army value was a complete mismatch and that is why I thought it will be waaay lower than dia
@@hamster_designs Yeah this - I thought probably diamond cause the weird build just threw off the zerg. I know I'm terrible for just freezing and failing to work out what to do if the scenario is weird enough, and I observe the same in my opponents if I do objectively dumb stuff
I feel like the first game was a no marine challenge similar to how a while back on rank roulette there was a masters replay where the terran didn't take mine gas until like the 10 minute mark.
Definitely someone being inspired by BeastyQT with weird-ass compositions. The reason he is so high, is that he must probably throw everyone off-balance with it, since the build requires relatively no micro from the Terran part, but it needs considerably better macro from the Zerg's. And yes, this is exclusively a TvZ build.
I believe you're talking about the 3rd replay from the first episode of Rank Roulette with Artosis? Don't think that was any weird challenge or anything, iirc the Terran player tried to 5rax, failed, and flew them all back and decided to take a third while Zerg player counter-attacked. That's why it looked like he was ignoring gas at first.
Hmm. But isn't this a bit unfair? Every guest gets different games. If Hamster for some reason would hate one of the guests, he could try really hard with the video montage to screw them over. Finalists are measured by their performance in single episode and Harstem essentially is irrelevant for finals. Of course, filming all episodes at once, so everyone gets same games, and then releasing them would be hard work.
It's Rank _Roulette_ for a reason. Better hope you get games where it's easy to identify the rank over the games where the Masters players are playing like Bronzes or vice-versa.
@@vedantsachdeva4645 Valid point, but Harstem can do worse if he favors someone. Maybe implementations of Winners Bracket and Losers Bracket would improve it? If one is really good at guessing, they should have no problem beating other 3 guessers. Unless it was all just luck. But man, it sounds like a tournament at this point.
This was by far my best guessing game xD 1, 0, 0, 0 These replays were for me :D This is exactly what you see when you're coming from hiatus of 6 years. Get placed for no reason into masters3 and see exactly all that , a bit of everything :D
Im usually the idiot when my guess is way different than both the people playing, this time I was dead on round 2 though. I mean when the guy had money for his natural he decided to fuck around with his probe micro for a solid 10 seconds before even throwing it down. The choice for me was between gold 1 and plat 3
I did really good this one. I don't know how the point system works, but I was off by 0, 3, 0, and 1. Probably my best, although I haven't seen many of these (maybe 3)
Dia3 (basically Plat1) Zerg here, NA if that makes a difference to you, my micro isn't close to that good on the ling-bane phase. And most people I play against just try (and fail) to skip the ling bane phase and go straight into roaches. And I have a 70-80% winrate in ZvZ. The idea that a GOLD Zerg has that level of macro is laughable.
Really happy with my 8 points this one :D For that plat 1, i guessed diamond 1 though, so if that gives +6 points, i got 8. Otherwise i might have gotten more.
I think the reason that the ZvZ game was a hard guess for people is because in my experience most zerg players hate a ZvZ and dont know what to do. Even if they are masters 3 or something. So the games tend to look very sloppy.
Is there a bug or something? I just came back to sc2 and I suck hard, like, I have the level of a gold, maybe low plat, however I got ranked master 3 wtf?
Points should be counted as a somehow weighted differential from harstem, like catz went more or less on clearly a very easy episode, and ZG went veery well on a veery hard one (and roti is just awful no matter how you look at it)
In the one you failed so miserably saying it was gold, you forgot to add the extra punch for beign NA server, if you had added it, you would have done much better.
Only one episode left before finals🤞hope it's Tastosis as one team. Though judging from Hamster's ending words I think the final contestant might be Korean
Any idea why females never make it into the competitive scene of Starcraft 2? I'm really actually curious. I understand physical sports, but... it just hit me that Zombiegrub is the only reasonably good female SC2 player I know, and that's literally it, and she doesn't really compete at the highest level. 🤔
