My friend and I would play this game in his grandparents’ basement. The basement was furnished but not well let and barely any sunlight would get through. To be frank this game would scare the shit out of me because of its great haunting music and atmosphere with creature sounds and moans and when the neighbors died it would scare me. The most trippy and scariest part of it all was the title scream with its Night of the Living Dead omage and the cover to the game itself too.
Such an insanely nostalgic game for me, I love it to bits. Word of warning for anyone thinking about playing it: the password system is the ultimate beginner's trap and a massive middle finger to anyone who wants to actually beat this game. When you use a password you start that level with 200 water pistol ammo and NOTHING ELSE. (Kinda like Doom) You cannot win with raw skill, you will NEED every single bit of the arsenal you build up through the course of the game. A perfectly reasonable and acceptable way to play is actually just emulate the game and drop a save state between each level. Trust me, this is more or less the only way to enjoy this game when first starting out.
Well... maybe iconic and at least it is a really good game for the normal levels, cause bosses are just ridiculous strong with erratic moves. Literally the best way to beat the spider boss is being invincible and spam punches.
This game really gave me nightmares when I was a kid. I just made it to Baby Toddler and I couldn't defeat him. I still remember the sound of the balloon clown, really creepy.
Ah dude, this game, perfect for halloween. We got a Maniac Mansion and Day Of Tentacle remasters, imagine this game got a reboot like The Toejam and Earl one we got a couple years back.
Dang, talk about brutality in the next level! I played a good number of relatively hard games from the SNES era, but this is one of the many games I have not played, and I can already feel how difficult the game is! Magnificently done once more, bud!! OwO👍
Quite a bit late on this I know. First off, respect the work Shadowserg. Have enjoyed all the videos I've seen thus far. Secondly, for those who are unaware; Snakeoids have one big weakness - clown decoys. The decoys are practically guaranteed to keep them above ground with their 'licking' attack, giving you plenty of time to unload with whatever weapons you have available. Not everyone's got Shadowserg's bazooka skills, after all. lol Thirdly, weed wackers do a great job of cutting through the spider-mind's floor webs. Have not tested, but it may also prevent that section of floor from getting re-webbed. Just some interesting notes for folks.
Wow man I do no hits like this all the time but you do it way different than how I do congratulations on doing this it's really amazing and takes lots of skill! 👍
As a kid i never could beat those snakeoids at 4:06 and now as a man i still can't either. I swore i wasn't going to look for tips but i had to before i turn into a 70y/o grandpa saying the same thing. This game is such a classic and i need to beat it once and for all 🤧
This game would be great if it was on the switch, I would play this game all the time when I was coming back from my school. Plus, this charcters could be smash chartcers in my own opinion.

I was a little kid playing this and remember the 3rd level music with the chainsaw dudes chasing you would always scare the shit out of me especially when they were on you they always seemed to go faster and the sound of the chainsaw too man. Love this game.
Me: *wastes 10-20 bazooka shots on one Snakeoid* This Guy: *angles the shots so they hit multiple times, kills them in 3-4 shots* 1,000 IQ plays right here.
I thought the same thing when I saw that. Odds of pulling a skeleton key from a chest is extremely unlikely. To the point where I’ve played through to snakeoids maybe 50 times and never got one. I usually die trying to kill them lol. I have a ton of experience levels 1-20 but not much 21+
am i the only person on earth who prefers the megadrive/genesis version over the snes one? everytime someone mentions this game, everybody shits on the sega version and praises the nintendo one, i feel im alone in liking the sega version best lol
Humans surprise me when they beat games like these. I loved this game but always got stuck at different levels and had to turn it off. It was love but too hard to beat.
Only problem with this game is it's too damn long. Up to level 20 I feel like it stays really fresh and fun. Between 20 and 30 the interest/engagement starts to wane a bit and after level 30 you're just like "when tf is this gonna end". I remember when I finally beat the game with my cousin we were like yh we're never playing this again cuz it starts to get a bit stale halfway through. First half is a masterpiece though don't get me wrong. So much creativity, the game just oozes everything positive you could imagine
1:50 Master Shake: Alright what do you want? You BIG GAY BABY!! 😆🤣 That’s what Shake (From ATHF) would say if he made it to that giant baby boss battle.
