Cheryl Zondi broke down during cross-examination at Timothy Omotoso's rape trial at the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court. She faced a barrage of tough questions from Omotoso's lawyer Peter Daubermann. Courtesy #DStv403.
The judge is male, the defence attorney is male, the prosecutor is male.... the is no place that could be more intimidating than this situation. I salute her strength!
I agree dudu, people need to stop jumping on the gravey train of being taken by the new storm churches, all humans are mann of God not these misguided nonsense of 1 individual being Man of God please bantu
The problem is that God uses man to operate in this earth. So you can have a man of God just that don't come to close as a woman because this are people so when a lady sleeps with a man and a time comes when a man repents this lady starts claiming rape and there are waiting for year to tell. So this are lies
I applaud her for her wittyness, the lawyer is not achieving his point and trying very hard, it must be the millions he got from the rapist, this trial is very complex
This young lady did really well during cross examination. Yes she broke down in tears quite a few times which is understandable because it is not easy having to relive a traumatic experience. But what I loved about her is that she stuck to her story. No matter how hard this laywer tried to confuse her by asking the same question so many times , she stuck to her story. When she was asked a question, she answered the question exactly. If she didn't remember something, she was not too scared to admit that she does not remember. I also loved that she did not get wound up and angry and lose it. She stayed calm. I admire her courage so much. This can't have been easy for her. She's been through hell and now she has to relive it. She is our voice for all women out there. Hopefull this will give other young women courage speak up against sexual assault
propaganda and malicious slander of character is not regarded as being brave but pure insanity as it deprives people of their pure proper community acceptance
It's hurts when seeing this.... It's as if that this girl uzicelele for this man to rape her... The way bamu cross question ngakhona. Izobacacela nini abantu abangotata base mzantsi futhi naphina that rape is rape.... Mayinga sugar quote
The lawyer is trying all ways to make her slip up but she is so smart in answering his questions... she is so strong yhooo there are times where I would've just said "futsek undivile mos" but she is so collected and keeping her calm
She is not very smart its the lawyer that very weak her evidence is not holding, a reasonable person doesn't do that; Tim will only be charged because she was under aged at the time.
she fell for it. The lawyer is trying to get to the to say it was consensual action and not rape and she fell for it in her statement but I can understand her. As she said, he had a hold on her. I pray justice prevails.
Exactly my thoughts. I mean this lawyer clearly doesn't know anything about psychological abuse. I hope more importantly she got counseling or currently is seeing someone and talking her heart out. Brave woman
Amos Chisisi Wondered if you were going to say that “he is only doing his job” if that was your sister, daughter or mother sitting in that chair.... empathy not😩😩😩😩
she's representing all the females who have been raped but have been silenced. she's brave, I think I would've cried the way the Omotoso's attorney was cross examining her. We are supporting you!!!
this woman is so intelligent and affirmative. love how she thinks well on her feet despite the pressure. i salute this woman's strength and bravery and hope she gets the justice that she deserves.
She's so smart and brave, and I so like that she stick to what she's saying. Big up babe and may you heal and forgive in a process. God will definitely deal with a that MONSTER😡😡😡😡
when u say these churches which 1s r u refering 2 cos since l was growing up in a catholic church which is not charismatic boys were raped & it was hidden under the carpet b'cos catholic fathers don't go 2 court
@@DannzOfficialz Skibbo was saying that the colonizers used religion to conquer Africa, they brought Christianity here.He didn't say they rose from the dead and raped this woman. Why are u catching feelings about that?
I would think the Defense attorney is insensitive but he is honestly just doing his job. He is removing all form of probability that Miss Zondi is a victim. It’s harsh but I understand what he is doing. However Miss Zondi I salute your strength and composure cause I definitely would have broken down 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I agree the Douberman is doing what he paid to do. She's been well coached in her trial preparations too n yea thanks good teaching n good grasp too. The return to PE to the same monster who continually raped her n she returns too him remains mind boggling people. She was scared n yet returned no no no something ain't adding up
The lawyer is actually helping her prove her case, however, it would be a disaster if she was not that strong and articulate. She deserves a seat in parliament.
MDN Nxi I also do not understand why she went back, but I guess it’s because I have never been assaulted by someone I loved and trusted. Until I am in her shoes or situation, I guess I will never understand
@@mdnnxi5232 It's called Stockholm syndrome. The same reason abused girlfriends/spouses return to their abusers. Trauma is bad enough on an adult, now what about a teenager who has been brain washed and raped.
I felt this lawyer was badgering her and I was surprised her own lawyer didn't object. When someone has been abused over a long period of time their mental state is impacted and trying to process the whole situation is not exactly black and white. There is shame and self blame and sometimes wanting someone to admit they did u wrong might involve approaching them in an agreeable manner as opposed to hostile. This lady's lawyer didn't prepare her for cross examination and they should have let her speak in her native language and got an interpreter so she cud communicate more efficiently. Its so sad this whole thing.
@@DannzOfficialz She is answering the question but he thinks if he persists he might manage to confuse her and discredit her testimony. If it were you or your family member wud u still be so uncompassionate? U shud go back to your home country and freely defend paedos there.vile subhumans.u wud think u were all conceived in the prostate the way u r quick to defend abuse towards women.
I don’t think of her as a common black girl. That is so derogatory. I see past the colour of her skin and she has a beautiful soul. I feel her pain and I wish her a life of beauty and true freedom. And I pray that she has the opportunity to study and become successful. What she is doing here, I would never have the strength. Cheryl, you are standing up against evil. God bless your beautiful soul.
Her evidence is so weak, people confuse eloquence with being smart, her narrative is not holding, imagine the whole university student, the presumed intelligent believing such a pathetic narrative of God punishing her if she doesnt please a man of God even a grade 1 would not believe that.
The weakness of the lawyer makes her appear to be strong, and her narrative is not holding a reasonable person does not do that, Tim Omotoso will only be charged for statutory rape not based on her narrative.
Its not easy to break away from false prophets especially after you've slept with them they have some hold on you . its a spiritual matter . these guys use witchcraft . I don't trust them
I believe you Gab, he raped her in order to steal her virtues, glories, star and keep her in bondage. Most men threaten these women bcoz they have captured their lives
Gabriella people don’t understand theses things pastors force young women for sex in order to strengthen their occultic powers. To prosper his church business he has to sleep with young women, influence , control and manipulate them. Part of her brain is disturbed by the trauma and people don’t understand that
People actually dnt understand how trauma can do to a person expecially after being raped. That apology from a rapist can give you closer. As a man, they Don't understand how important an apology is
@real gee let me just say only people who have been in this situation will understand me better. If they had done this to ur sister you would be saying that. Nd not only Nigeria are the ones raping in this country. Kids are been raped by their family members. Some one so close.... People like you actually make me understand why girls don't report rape.
I keep trying to understand this thing she calls closure from her context, why would she travel all the to the same monster who so wronged her for closure? Why could she not get closure on the phone or in a letter? Am really battling to understand her? My sister trauma is trauma be it hijacking or bulgarly trauma shakes the mind n body alike. I would not return to my hijacking spot to seek closure again never. Something is bound to crack we seeing the tip of an ice burg here. Her pre trial preps n rehearsals were good hence her ability to respond in such fashion too.
@@mdnnxi5232 Your examples of trauma are too simplistic to be compared to years of sexual abuse. Research the Stockholm Syndrome to get a better understanding of some of the dynamics at play in this slave house he had with these young girls. This man shaped their view of the world during their most crucial years. The depth of their trauma is not even being touched on here.
It takes a person with an alloy called guts to stand up on behalf of all women in a court of law. Ladies if you are out there, please report bad treatment (rape, assault etc) to the police. Whether the perpetrator is your pastor, relative, husband, friend it doesn't matter. These ignorant and arrogant man should be prosecuted to the bone, and let the Judge sentence them to jail time and throw away prison keys
@@robyn-roseza6489 There is a specific department that deals with sexual crimes, get that information and proceed there instead of the police station if you feel that the police are not doing their job.
I don't understand why people think someone can just accuse someone of rape.. why would this number of women tell the same thing and people still think Omotoso is innocent. Bull!
There are people who have been assigned to accuse men of God even when they are innocent just to tarnish their image for nothing that's why they had to investigate it carefully....while some fake men calling themselves to be men of God are doing to tarnish the name of good men
Nobubelo Ndlovu there is a law to be followed.thats why only people who studied law can convict.thats y they wouldnot come to you for judgement...judging or law is foreign to you until u study law
I'm not being xenophobic or something. But not even one Nigerian is against this pastor! Say a South african comes to Nigeria and opens up a church( I doubt that would be allowed) and does the same thing, would they support him? Obviously no, they'd want justice to be served. Which pastor stays with minors in his house? Is it normal? Considering he has a wife and children. There are pictures proving it. This case doesn't need to be prolonged, this man deserves to be behind bars. Cherly is not the only victim. No one in their right mind would make such accusations. In Durban you find 10 Nigerian churches in one street, really? 2am in the morning you hear noises. If he wins this case the South African justice would have let us down.
If they were decent people they would stand up and speak against this. They can't protect a paedophile just because he is one of their own.Last time in London those two Nigerian boys tried to behead a British soldier Lee Rigby as people watched in shock. The families stood up and got other Nigerians to stand with them and say that they were not in support of that. They can't all agree with this behavior if they want to live in other people's countries cos no one would do this in their own country.
My dear, please hear me, there are so many of us who are disheartened by this as nigerians, the thing about nigerians is that we say something is good or bad not based on the nationality of the person involved. I see her as a daughter, hence, the pain is real and it would be the same if the pastor was a south African or an American.
@@chiomajonathan2590 u have the privilege to not specify nationality cos no one is going to your country to commit crimes there. Its within reason to be shocked at the fact that someone can be brazen enough to go to a foreign country and commit such atrocities, lets not forget how Nigerians came to name a bag "Ghana must go".There are Nigerians in that court gesturing and mumbling to a point where a court official brings it to the court's attention. That's why we are gutted that they are defending this behavior and they are online saying all sorts of things to defend this man.
@@naletsanaele my dear incidents like this is very common in nigeria aswell, but I understand your frustration that it almost feels like nigerians are taking advantage of your system which many consider weak, but I can assure you that that is not the case with many other nigerians, who in fact appreciate south africa for the opportunity it presents to south Africans and non south Africans alike. The fight in this world is against good and evil and not one nation against the other. Let me also apologise on behalf of all well meaning nigerians to this beautiful young lady and south Africans at large.
The lawyer is doing what lawyers do, but as for this young lady, I salute her courage. I hope she's doing law related subjects so that she could one day become a lawyer. She belongs in court. She owns the place.
Close all the foreign nationals Pastor led charismatic churches we cant live it to chance the future of our bantu black queens up 4 grabs to wolves in sheep clothing period!!!!!!
Rape happens in homes, schools, hospitals and there are predators in traditional churches too. i was in a traditional church where the worship leader was harassing the young women in the church. When a complaint was laid it was dismissed because the pastor was also messing with young girls. They are both still pastors
Ow my word this girl, I wish all rape victims had her strength and courage, it's not easy yes I get that but this is the way forward... Ms Zondi I'm behind you, innocent until proven guilty mayonya
A very brave you lady. It's time women break the silence of pain and abuse. God is not mocked. Surely the Sins of these Pastors will find them out. They will reap what they sow. God
WHEN A PERSON HAS WRONGED YOU AND THEY REALIZE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE AND COME TO YOU WITH AN APOLOGY ASKING YOU TO FORGIVE THEM IT MEANS A LOT. I FEEL WHERE SHE IS COMING FROM AS FAR AS THE APOLOGY. IT WOULDVE HELPED WITH HER HEALING. I HOPE THEY BURY HIM UNDER THE PRISON.
Clearly that lawyer has never been a victim of something so cruel. Because I have, and you really DO need to hear an apology. You need to know that they realize they did wrong. It’s just the way it is.
So intimidating questions. The young lady has been traumatised for years. Lord have mercy. She just wanted an apology to ease the pain she's been holding, like when the Great late Mandela wanted an apology from the Apathied regime after being innocently prisoned for 25 years.
Brave gal and credible witness. Lawyer mmmh don't know what to say, why keep on asking same questions over and over. In a case like this I agree with Rwandan President. Degree in Theology for someone to start a church. Fancy Mr lawyer saying going round in circles, it's you who is asking the questions in circles. All the best Zondi
This girl is sincere, She is telling the truth. The Lawyer asking lots of foolish questions. I admire here intelligence may God bless her. Keep strong im praying for you.
This guy...I can't even call him lawyer due to his level of ignorance. .....what part of closure does he not get??? Jeez......Goes on and on the same thing......So annoying.
stop going to these so called 'man of God'' and pouring money in their pockets. use logic fellow South Africans. why they come here and claim to be pastors in the first place.
WOW! I've been in law enforcement for 30 years and I am in awe of this young woman's testimony. God bless her and I hope that dirty bastard burns in Hell.
This advocate, put work aside but he does not understand how these people calling themselves men of God behave to make one dead to reality, killing our consciences and making us do things that we would never ever do if we were not under their spell. Even those who are supporting Omotoso, it is only God that will rescue you from that cult. Well done Cheryl , strength and courage to you.
This lawyer keeps on repeating the same questions, yes you want her to slip up and admit to whatever you are asking, but move on! I believe this lady's story. So many cults and false prophets out there. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
