Very few of our animals receive live food, beyond the ones that get mice or insects or fish. Importing live food is very expensive, and the animal can still get the same level of nutrition, and comparable mental and physical stimulation from carcasses or ground meat.
Would rabbits and chickens be easy to raise for food though or is the sheer amount of meat too much to 'raise'? I just hear rabbits/rats reproduce like crazy. Thank you for the response. I LOVE seeing your zoo, a place I'd never normally get to explore. Vancouver, WA
@@cagirlinportland All great ideas, but we don't have the space or money to raise livestock for feedings, and there's a lot that could go sideways with releasing live rabbits and rats into a habitat!
