I have it. It works. BUT I think it's way too expensive for what it offers and for its low build quality. For the price, I think it should have been water resistant and have a lithium battery.
32 bit do not have 1528 dB. To calculate the dynamic range base on bit resolution you need to use this formula: 20xlog(2^32) an that equal to 194 dB. That is theoretical. In practice the AD converter will not go above 132 dB. Some pro test equipment can read dynamic range 180 dB or higher, but the range is divided in low and high power, where the low power is amplified. The switching is totally transparent to operator. The example are pro spectrum analyzers, phase noise analyzers, some instrument for astronomy where their use liquid nitrogen to cool donw the receivers to reduce thermal noise.
How do you know, explain the chips used in the Zoom F2-BT for the 32-bit float process. The AD converter could be super superior to anything that has existed where your knowledge update has ended. Open the Zoom F2-BT and tell us.
Hey Reuben, my recordings on the Zoom F2 BT are coming up very with lav mic even when clipped to my collar. Maxing out gain on my video editing software doesn't do the job and I need to add LOADS of gain to get usable audio. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? The sound waves are very very small if I don't process in Audacity.
Great video! I really like the 32 bit float on the Zoom F2. It can perfectly handle high SPL and dynamic sound from engine. With minor touch in post processing, the audio can be synced to the video and it does the job very well. The only cons is quality of the lav mic. I use deity w lav pro to improve the clarity.
Hello. I have a question about the f2-b product. The instructor wears f2 products and the camera director How do I monitor sound being recorded from f2?
Anyone that has a Zoom F2, install firmware update 1.20 (released Feb 2022) from the Zoom site. It resolves the issue where the unit sometimes fails to record a file despite being in record mode; and the issue when recording the recording will not stop (the file then also fails to record).
One thing to consider when choosing which one to buy is that with the BT version you can sync timecode using the Ultra Sync Blue, and pairing it with an Ultra Sync One, now you can really get some reliable time sync with your DSLR or any other camera.
