Outstanding photography through the kayaker on the lake is my kind of shot just a cracking frame. Thanks for the audio chat, I've struggled for so long to get decent audio I have a Rode Go cracking wee kit but I still have issues at times, maybe it's my Incredibly loose grip of the spoken word. Funnily enough on my last vid I lost the rode go transmitter so am now in need of a new recorder, the Zoom bird flu looks like a great option as I prefer ambient noise in vids too as much as possible. Cracking episode mate thanks.

Thanks mate. Really appreciate that. I think your videos have great audio and I’m always drawn into them to be honest. For me I went simple and wired as I thought given it’s just me on audio I don’t need dual wireless effort. Sometime if ever I shoot with another person the dual mic setup would be great. Any plans this weekend mate ?

@@colinosullivan cheers mate appreciate it, yeah I'm trying to simplify my vids so now using just a GoPro, and the rode, or I was until I lost half of it now going to try the mic on the GoPro media mod for a while. Plans for weekend....It's my weekend on so mostly shooting sports, I've had a stinking cold all week (old school version not the popular thing)so no major plan for a video out n about, altho we just had a new addition to the family a bloody cavoodle pup, kinda cute and made some nice shots of him so will slip those into a pup portrait vid haha.....viral exposure guaranteed surely....

Colin - I really enjoyed this video. Back in the day when I was a photo editor for a group of newspapers I had to train my staff in how to collect good sound for audio slide shows. This video brought me back and made me realize I don't do enough of it. I have two zoom recorders an H6 a friend gave me and an H2. Both are older now but they are pretty awesome and I need to use them more. I need to get a wind muff and dead cat for the H6 so I can do more along the water where there is a lot more wind. Again great work!

Thanks Kirk. Yah man it’s a lot of fun and tbh sometimes a little different to music. Those videos where your by the water with the mp and the one where you were using your fathers lens reminds me so much of here. And that’s the vibe I’m going for. Partially as afraid to try make a studio setup haha!

Could you share the make and model of the field recorder as well as your Camera Sling bag? Thanks. Love your videos. They are sp peaceful.

Thanks for commenting and glad you enjoyed it. My records is the zoom h1n and the lav mic I wear is the little Rose mic for talking parts. Of course being ireland I always have the wind covers on too as it does get crazy windy here. My bag is a 29 year old billingham hadly pro in black canvas. It’s a work horse. Been around the world a few times with me. It has held up remarkably well tbh! A new video out this week so check back mate.

I had the first version of this recorder, and the battery life was terrible, and just all round lacklustre device. The newer one looks interesting. There’s a noticeable amount of extra background noise in the ambient field recordings compared with the lav mic, but it’s quite immersive and not too distracting. Really adds to the watching experience having that stereo sound field. Sounds like the gain might be a bit high on the general field recordings at a guess. Great work as always though mate.

Thanks mate. Yet the Rode lav mic with the rode wind cover is very clean for sure. Yes it’s possible my third party wind cover for field recording blocks out too much real sound also. The battery life is superb on this unit. I generally need gain to be at around 7-8 to really.get the sounds with the wind cover on. Did you’ve the zoom cover for your first unit ? Cheers

Hey mate, thanks for watching. I had the Carl Zeiss Zm 50mm f2 for most of those and I think I used the zeiss 28mm 2.8 biogon for that last photo of the dead tree. Hope this helps. 👍

@@colinosullivan thanks. I have the planar and love it on my m10R. But now I'm in love with my 28mm elmarit. Is amazing
@colinosullivan
@colinosullivan Год назад
@@davide88rn that’s a very tidy 28mm. I’ve never used it. I have heard from a few friends the biogon gives a fairly similar look. When I’m back in Vienna later in the year I’ll try the elmarit in store. I never went nuts and almost went for the 21mm super elmar, but in the the end that would be a very strange first Leica focal length! Right now I’m finding the 28mm 50mm combo has been great for me this year. I think a nice light 35mm will most likely be a lens I’ll go for eventually. Where are you based ? Cheers

@davide88rn Год назад
@@colinosullivan I also have the small voightlander 35 1.4 and is amazing for the price (supersharp from 2.8 but really usable from 1.4) I'm based in Italy, Milan in the north. I really like the same of your photography topic and street. 🙂
