Zora Swimming Fixed in Majora's Mask 3D (and More is on the Way)

Fun fact: Leo fixed ice arrows, set masks on dpad, fixes the bosses, and more. Mm3d is now my favorite version.

I'm excite, can't wait till we can edit the lighting in mm3d too so its actually dark again

They completely restored MM3D to the original versions mechanics etc. The eyeballs on the bosses are gone.

If the code is really that small a Nintendo Employee should really just patch it in on their break time, lol.

Now it's only a matter of time before they restore the original fights

When I first saw the title, I thought Nintendo was updating the game to include a feature where you can restore the original mechanics of the n64 version.

I don't know why but I idiotically thought from reading the video's title that Nintendo must have decided, after years of not doing anything about it, to patch MM3D and fix some of the problems with it... but of course it's the fans that fix it, while Nintendo tries their best to shut down fan projects that improve their games.

"They changed the Deku in the remake because of the sequence breaking parts you can reach." I'm sorry, *what.* Deku Link's momentum was never capable of sequence breaking anything, it just provided cute shortcuts across water pads.

Hope this keeps up. I sorta like the 3ds version. However, I still will be waiting and watching. The Zora swimming pissed me off and I couldn't figure out why. So cool.

Project Restoration is one of the most amazing fan creations that I have ever seen, and it deserves more love.

"for anyone who actually likes the slow swimming" Well, I think it helps greatly for the Great Bay Temple. Being able to toggle the speeds without the use of magic sounds like a dream, that's what I'm really excited for (along with the ice arrows and mask management ofc)

Holy shit and just 2 days ago I was looking forever for a mod that fixes this and now we have it.

The only thing that'd put this mod over the edge for me is if it allowed you to swim without holding A - either by tapping A instead, or using ZL/ZR independently to slow/fast swim. It's the part of the game where I find myself needing to control the camera the most, but my thumb is occupied.

If they can fix the boss fights, this may actually end up being the definitive version of the game.

Yeah modding the game to fix its shortcomings its pretty cool but the mod also did a very cool thing which is giving us a new Nerrel video

You can still complain. A game shouldn’t have to rely on its fans to make the game playable. (I haven’t played Majora’s Mask)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention dude. I’ll be honest, I love the original but the idea of playing Majoras Mask in 60fps with this all fixed is a tantalising concept.

Just finished this game again after four years of first playing it on the 3ds. I watched your video and decided to give the n64 version a try and the game was so much better for it; the atmosphere the music the visuals everything was better and it became my favorite game (after trying to return to the 3ds version more than a couple of times). I can't tell you how grateful I am for that video, and I can't ever see myself returning to the 3ds version.

What's an actual good Nintendo 64 emulator? I just can't find any good one at all, I simply want it to be as good as Dolphin. Its UI is so good, the options it has don't need to be overcomplicated, it's fast and stable, so good, near-perfect. Yet can't find any similar N64 emulator.

I've been itching to replay MM. Thanks for sharing this awesome mod, it was my biggest gripe with the remake because it took away all my enjoyment from its most fun mechanic. Great Bay, here I come!

The guy who made the hacks recently released a patch that fixes a ton of things. I think it's called "Project Restoration."

It's super cool that modders are picking up the slack and actually taking measures to correct Nintendo's mistakes with MM3D. I have a 3DS with Luma so I'll surely look into installing these mods. :)

Yes! The sad thing is Nintendo could have just patched this in easy... Other changes for me are: 1. Slow down the time ticker because I can't play 3D like I can N64 2. Save on resetting time 3. Bombers notebook 4. Deku Scrub Palace

i found the the deku momentum can work if you start in the middle or opposite edge on the pad and then spin over to the edge to jump, but it's still not as good as the original, i understand how you had trouble with it.

Mmmf, someone could finally restore the original lighting and visibility to OOT3D.

A relatively easy thing to implement is to allow the Song of Time to save the game. Just add over whatever line saves the game from the statues. I understand making the statues permanent save spots for convenience, what I don't get is removing it from the Song of Time for no reason.

As a beginner developper and major boomer first gen zelda afficionado these coders to me = faith in humanity restored ^^

With regards to the Captain Keeta fight, I've seen people pull off that arrow cheat you showed off in your original rant video. I assumed you either didn't realise it was an issue with the original too until I got to the graveyard in my VC version of the N64 original. As soon as the race started I planted an arrow in Keeta's back and ran up to him while he was stunned. He then kept walking and I had to deal with the Stalchildren. The race still ended at a similar point to the 3DS version but only because I was lucky. I'm sorry for doubting you.

holy crap the improved mod that fixes a bunch of other stuff is so nice

you know one thing i never mentioned in your original video since it was like a few months old when i saw it last year was that i never saw a porblem with that one fairy jump in the Snow Head temple. i was surprised that i never considered the jump you did as a way to land in that hole in the wall as i always jumped from the side as it was MUCH closer instead of being roughly a room away and more likely for me to land in there. and that way works in both versions. so if anything that one note of "they messed up the geometry" is interesting, but not game breaking. funny thing is that i never considered how you were *supposed* to get there until you showed it in that video.

Yay Odolwa's getting his powers back which include, the . . . horrid . . . cannibal . . . murder . . . moths . . .(I don't think I want to ever see what they look like zoomed up). Maybe if they feel like it they could tweak some other things. Like giving back the sword to the Giant Mask while giving the blue Twin Mold some small little lightning arrow attacks (Not actual arrows) from its eyes. Or allowing the Fierce Deity's mask to be useable anywhere along with him kneeling to get through doors (I would love to see how every NPC screams in terror at the presence of a Dark God). But I would say improving Dampe's speed and AI would be very welcome. Having song effects occur immediately after performing them (So when you do the Emptiness song you can allow it to spawn freely while you do other tasks. Another small bonus (But I'm not going to be pushy) would be to add a small mana refill effect to one of the masks at the cost of your life kind of like the Blast Mask. I would probably go with the cow mask because it allows you access to the Milk Bar that lets you buy infinite mana potions for a whole 3 day cycle.

I have a huge interest in the Majora's Mask Restoration Project. That now fixes the bosses and many other mechanics. Too bad I can't figure out the Citra installation instructions!
