If you put together a full tutorial with explanations on your technique I would buy it in an instant! Truly fantastic work

Spontaneous brush strokes with blobs of muted colors splashed here and there bringing out the depth and texture of the face! Really it would be a herculean task to depict the beautiful differences in tonal values of the limited Zorn palette. A wonderful watching experience to every aspiring artist. Congrats to the Master Painter!!!

really loving your zorn studies atm, even more so than your sargents i love how zorns work fades into existence, its so much more fun to paint that starting with a strict undersketch.

Really interesting to see! I have the picture on my wall. Both my grandmother and uncle had the same. I recently bought the Zorn palette for fun and was thinking of copying this painting (Kål-Margit 1901) but I realized there is much green. And how do you paint that? Thank you

Excellent copy! What brand of paint do you use?

I don’t remember what I used here but often Williamsburg, Utrecht, Gamblin, Holbein, Old Holland, Windsor and Newton. (I suppose the red would be the only pricey color in this palette if you were going to use a fancy brand)

@@olddirtymasters Thanks for the reply. In fact I wanted to know the brand specifically regarding the color red, because sometimes under the same name you can find a different shade of color. I noticed this when I compared the vermilion red of Maimeri with the one of W&N...

@onetogiacomo I figured out that I used LeFranc & Bourgeois extra fine oil colors cadmium red light(PR108) which I think is very similar to other artist grade brands.

@@olddirtymasters I checked in the fine arts shop and actually the Lefranc&Bourgeois you mentioned should be a vermilion red or very close to it, just with a different name, but it's the same red as the vermilion from Lukas... Anyway thank you and good job!

Nice job. Voice over would have been better though. Id like to test out the zone palette but black is not a color I use and reliance on it seems too easy to create muddy effects .

Another beautiful piece. I tried this and painted along. Your videos are fantastic. I struggled since I'm teaching myself oils, but I learned a ton from this , and just watching you paint is very enjoyable. Do you mind me asking what kind and size brush you used? I noticed you didn't change the brush through out the painting. Thank you!
