I got this card about couple of weeks ago. In my case, I undervolted to 950mV at 1980MHz (this card pretty much stayed at 1900mhz or smth out of the box). So undervolting while doing small OC is pretty good option as well
Everyone is worried about the caps on the back but, never consider the other amount of ceramic capacitors that surround the caps. Zotac's card is loaded. The back of the GPU has plenty of ceramics. So, i wouldn't be worried about this card.
I've got the OC version of this card and I'm able to push the clock speed to +150 in MSI Afterburner and the card runs stable. Also the card does in fact not crash above 2000MHz like reported in the first 2 weeks after the release. So whatever Nvidia has done with that driver update... it worked :D
@Chuck Darwin Yeah i think Nvidia bins chips and sells the same to everyone. Then AIB partners bin again.. so you get super expensive strix OC for +30% price and +5 fps... All 3080s are great. Zotac is no exception. 5 year warranty
I agree on Zotac's good cooling, I have the Holo Black and it peaks at 72C max each time i subject it to hardcore gaming, truly impressive. Cards i've owned over the years would rise to close to 80C.
Solution for the 1080p monitor with a 3080? Nvidia's super resolution. The games render as 1440p and are scaled to 1080p. Net effect = same load AND better quality 1080p image. Something to keep in mind, as someone might be waiting for black friday, cyber monday or christmas to buy a monitor.
Jeez you're the only guy that understands quality versus availability, this is the only card which is available in my neck of the woods which is the middle of nowhere. Thanks.
@@vk-br1dr personally 1500$ CAD was the limit i was going to spend for the 3080 since i've been doing nothing but working all year. thing is, that card was only 100$ above my limit so i made a exception.
i currently own a RTX 2070 Zotac mini, and its a blast of a GPU, and considering all about the famous "capacitors" Buildzoid said that they might not be as amazing as the founders nvidia ones which is full os SMDs, but they are overall, pretty good and functional, main issues with crashes with rtx 3080 was a driver issue more than anything. i hope Zotac keeps improving, they made a pretty good leap jump since nvidia 10 series, and i really enjoy they mini card series, since they work great for itx and take a different focus compared to the "mainline" triple fan designs that other board makers do. What they really need to do now is to nail a very good cooling system for the high end gpus, since they always tend to be more behind vs other board makers.
Just found this card for $600 AUD used. Would you say its a good card? I know there have always been issues with Zotac, and I've heard there have been issues with the power connectors melting too. Any input on that?
Forget overclocking, even under stock if you fully load a medium to high end modern cpu + gpu you can go past that including all the power drawn by things like the motherboard and storage and even leds surprisingly suck a ton of power (most are rated at 0.25 watts PER LED on full white light). Just because most games don't take full advantage of cpu and gpu today doesn't mean they won't do that in the future. I'd stick to Nvidia's recommendation of 750 watt rather than this nobody who is just guessing why Nvidia may have given that recommendation. Nvidia doesn't make recommendations because some 650 watt psus are not up to spec that isnt their fault and it is in their best interest to make the recommended psu wattage as low as possible to not scare away customers with large power requirements. Nvidia recommends 750 watts because they know their GPUs and how much power they are likely to draw with common cpus they would be paired with This is what I hate about many of these tech youtubers trying to give recommendations to budget consumers. They don't understand the difference between budget and garbage. Budget means buying something that is going to last a long time for a low cost not the cheapest thing that will work only for today's games. If your 650 watt psu dies early because it's being pushed to it's limit everyday or simply cannot handle increased power loads for future games now you have to try to resell it and buy a 750 watt when it would have been much cheaper to buy 750 watts from the start. They did this with b450 motherboards too. If their recommendation ends up costing you money in the long run it doesn't matter because it's inconsequential to them. You should never cheap out on psus, and that doesn't just mean buy a really good 650 watt psu, it means buy a really good 850 watt psu even if you only need 650 today and even if it means you have to go from a 3800x to a 3700 or whatever because cpus and gpus go out of style every few years but psus don't change. Same goes for cases. Don't cheap out on the one time purchases just to get better cpu/gpu performance when you'll be reselling it in 5 years max
Hello, i'm deciding on buying between an RTX 3070 (ASUS TUF V2 OC) vs RTX 3070 ti (ZOTAC Trinity) for about the same price. Wich one would you choose? Thanks!
I have only noticed this on my 'ZOTAC RTX 3090 Trinity' and wondered if you get the same? im not getting any errors, but I look to get a post code in the form of yellow light when the cards first powers on. On the RGB strip at boot, I get: 1 Yellow flash, 1 pause (no flash), then 2 yellow flashs. boots fine. Just wanted to check these no underlining issue. Wanted to see if the yellow lights normal with other owners?
I heard they will be restocking 3080’s here where I live by October 28th. At least that’s what the guy at Best Buy told me when I was over there on Saturday this past weekend.
Question of the day: would you say that 1440p 21:9 is the bare minimum in order to see a noticeable difference between the 3080 and other 20xx cards? I noticed that even in the 1440p range, the difference is not as big as I would expect it to be... P. S. Looking to jump from a vanilla 2070 to 307p for 1440p 21:9 highish refresh. Cheers mate.
3:12 YOu say zotac is a smaller footprint with 320 x 115 x 55 but the dimensions for the 3080 tuf is: 29.99 x 12.69 x 5.17 . So if you look at these numbers the tuf is a smaller footprint. The length and the thickness of the card is a big problem for most mini itx cases.
Good you mentioned Modern Warfare performance (no crashes). Won't be cancelling my Zotac Trinity based on this. What was your average FPS on warzone? Thanks ! :)
my brother works for online retail shop in East EU and he says zotac cards are performing the best in thermals and benchmark tests, on par and sometimes better than msi/gigabyte and even asus cards, he was rly suprised
ive seen for the tests an 1000W PSU was used. does it really need to use a 1000w or its a rough over estimated one? i was think about buy a rm850i . dunno it will be okay ish..
Do you have a source for the 4 year warranty for Australia? Their website still says 3 years with no extension and I couldn't find any other sources confirming an extension for Aus (other countries yes). I was lucky enough to grab one of these a few weeks ago (just after the driver to fix crashes) and only issue I've run into was FPS on warzone. According to benchmarks I should have been getting 150 FPS on max (with 8600k @ 5ghz) but it was stuck on 130 no matter what setting used (even RTX on / off) so was worried, but as more people got cards there are some large reddit threads with other brand 3080 users experiencing similar issues, so seems like it is game / driver related. Don't have any of the other games benchmarked to test against to hoping it fixes itself soon.
Hi Yes Man! Your wise advice has very likely saved me from being hosed today: I got the "meet at a petrol station" reply and I aborted mission immediately. The item was a GTX 960 from Facebook Marketplace but the photos actually showed only the box. What questions do you normally ask on a listing to decide if it is a Tech Yes Trade or a Tech No Trade?
I've got the OC version of the Zotac 3080 Trinity. Yesterday I played several hours of RDR2 @1440p everything on Ultra (MSAA + FXAA turned off). FPS was between 65 and 85 depending on location and daytime (nighttime is more taxing). The card reached 74°C at peak with an +160MHz OC in MSI Afterburner. The Fan curve is still on auto, but the card gets quiet a bit noisy in my Opinion. I did not meassure the decibels tho. But since I play with a Headset I did not hear the card while gaming. Maybe this is interresting/helpfull for some of you^^ Edit: I'm considering watercooling the 3080 because I'm not too happy with the temperature. Never watercooled anything before, but you know there is always a first time :D
Hi!i never did an undervolt before, which are the numbers that i should put in the Afterburner for solid results and decrease the temperatures with that specific card?
They offer the extended warranty in the EU too? i'm from Spain, i'm interested in tuf or this due to the warranty, however i'll wait till rdna2 presentation to see what amd has to offer.
5 year warranty in the UK, pretty happy with mine. No issues at all.. Even on the launch driver the card ran fine. I still have a fan curve on mine.. I hate zero rpm on gpus. Letting the card constantly run hot for no reason
Is it alright to go for zotac trinity oc or should I wait for asus tuf..? I mean how big is difference between them despite zotac feels a little cheaper due to plastic. Thanks
You're getting 5 years of warranty on the zotac card, if you register it. Practically for gaming it won't make a difference if you're going for asus tuf or zotac trinity, just get one that you are able to.
Just got one, I really like it, do have some CPU bottlenecking but as long as I turn down the CPU intensive settings everything runs fine on high settings.
Please report on the huge RGB issue??! So many people can't update the zotac graphics card software. Nothing in this video covering that? Be worth noting?
I prefer EVGA cards personally, 3 year warranty if you register it, and can upgrade to a 5 year or a 10 year. Not to mention the StepUP program, just nice to have the option.
PLEASE stop talking about capacitors, the stability issue was identified by Nvidia as a driver issue, the pre-release driver was perfectly fine, the first post release driver caused issues on ALL models of RTX 3080's regardless of capacitor configuration.
So i'm waiting on evga xc3 3080 ultra from ple, they initially mentioned that i should have an eta very soon considering my spot in the queue however it didnt happen due to no stock eta and i was offered this zotac card for and extra $270 Australian, I refused. I felt i made the right move considering my 1080ti still going strong and i didnt have to fork out extra
