I always noticed on the AT, Garden State managed the Duplex logistics. And the great condition of the tent now shows her care. There are a lot of resale Duplexes out there with some damage, especially to the netting and the floor. Great video, thank you.
Loved the post, thanks. Nice to see follow up gear reviews. Love my Duplex, never tried it with two people but the two of you made it work fine. I just like my space and my pack explosion in my tent at the end of the day, lol. Take care guys, thanks again so much for the video. Really looking forward to Julie’s “Best Of Nope”, lol. Take care. thank you so much for the review. I did order one couple days ago, but been worrying a lot about condensation, my dog likes to sleep in the foot area pushing the wall🙄 hopefully I'll find the way to make it work for me;) thanks again and happy hiking!
Also a little tip, on the side wall guide lines once you've staked them out just break a small stick and put under the guide lines and it gives even more room. As someone who is 6'2 I can put all my gear in the tent and still have plenty of room to slide off my sleeping pad and end up in a corner. When you guys brought your packs in did you put them under your legs?
Random stakes we had most we’re 6.4" Carbon Fiber Stake which some broken Halfway in, and were replaced w Aluminum ones I had light cord for clothesline but never put it up , what’s the 2nd side pullout I’m not really sure ,
I got this tent, and i hear a lot of people talking about how big it is, but i think it was kinda small (im used to having a 3 person tent all by myself). If you ask me, all 2 person tents are for 1 person, and all 3 person tents are for 1-2 people... If you are going with your girlfriend in the Duplex, it would probably work, but it would not feel "luxurious", and i would not like to share it with a buddy... I was thinking of getting the Triplex just for solo trips, but the bigger footprint makes it more difficult to find a good place to set it up, so i am gonna at least try to get used to the size before i spend all that money on a Triplex.
Yea it worked on the AT , at times it felt roomy other times not so much , especially on the rainy days, although there are tent sites where a bigger tent would definitely not have fit , white mountains certainly have a lack of tent sites , I’m 5 ‘ 9 ish and if I was 6 ft plus I think the triplex would be a smart choice, good luck you can certainly sell it on eBay and upgrade to a bigger tent if need be.
@@baskets8429 I really like this tent though. Great "minimalistic" design that is quick and easy to set up and take down - and as it is supposed to last for at least 1 through hike, it will probably last my entire life; so DEFINITELY worth the money for me. People who live in poor countries may feel otherwise, but here in Norway, its just a matter of what you prioritize...
@@baskets8429 that should be a good video -- will look forward to it. With Nope's experience on trail I'm sure he wouldn't have any trouble. Keep 'em coming buddy!
Thanks for the review. It's funny, I've seen some reviews that said theirs disintegrated from occasional use after a fews years and others say they last forever. Oh, could you fit 25" wide pads in there?
Thanks! Maybe people stored them in direct sunlight , tent is still going strong, 2 of 20” wide pads fit in the tent Okaish, anything bigger will be a squeeze ! Happy trails
Considering this for my AT2020 attempt. Did you use a footprint at any time during your trip? I’m looking to save every ounce of weight I can. It looks like it is still in great condition.
I have researched every tent under the sun, and everything keeps coming back to the duplex. What is going to make me a buyer is the fact that you could sell that tent on eBay right now for an easy $550. Talk about an investment! Thanks for the response👍
It looks like I just joined the Zpacks family. I literally placed my order for a camo duplex about 45 minutes ago. I appreciate all the feedback you’ve given me. Looking forward to what’s next for you. Take care man!
I really didn't want to spend the money on a tent but I am it just makes sense for a a/t tru hike ? Tho how is it in the cold I'm starting med February next year
We started March 1 st The handful of very cold days You want a good sleeping bag and inflatable pad to keep you off the cold ground, the tent works like any other tent, it’s fine. But starting mid Feb You want wool layers and a solid sleeping bag or Quilt. Good luck and you got this, it’s one foot in front of the other till you see that a Katahdin sign !
My weight has fluctuated all my life Usually I’m at 185, if I hit the weights and run that’s where it stays, lazy weeks and it gets into 190 plus On trail lowest I was this year is about 170 ish
Epon will not be stealing the spotlight from Nope I’ll try my best to talk him into it but I doubt he wants the spotlight on him He hikes for himself Moves with the nature Like a ghost One second he’s here And he’s gone Was he ever here at all All you see is footprints Of the worn out HOKA one one shoes
Just to be clear I’m reviewing a tent that I used for 117 days on my Appalachian Trail thru hike, (it is my girlfriends tent and not mine) but I slept in it.
There’s ways to get it closer to the ground , but then you get lots of condensation , me personally if my shoes are slightly wet means trail is wet so they are gonna get wet regardless everything else I can fit inside.
Peak height: 48" Floor width: 45" Floor length: 7.5 feet Yea it’s big enough A guy I hiked with on the CDT was about 6’ 5” He preferred the Triplex which is 3 ounces more But either one should be Ok
