Ich liebe das Fliegen in den Bergen - aber sie sind von Würzburg 300 km entfernt. Daher träume ich seit Jahren davon, beides zu verbinden und mit einem Flug die Alpen von Würzburg aus zu besuchen und die Zugspitze zu umfliegen. Die Entfernung ist nicht übertrieben groß, aber die Strecke liegt quer zu den üblichen Thermikstrecken. Vor allem aber ist bei guter Thermik das Alpenvorland häufig sehr schwach, so dass ich dort bei früheren Versuchen bereits umdrehen musste.
Im Mai 2021 ist es gelungen, und es war ein großer Genuss, einen Sonntagnachmittag-Ausflug zur Zugspitze zu erleben! Deshalb hier eine ganz kurze Collage der Impressionen. Und wie immer - abgesehen von 2 Litern Sprit für den Start - alles mit Sonnenenergie :-)
Wegen Kamerawechsels jetzt als 4K-Video, mit Ausnahme der 360°-Kamera-Ausschnitte aus dem Cockpit. Ich hatte nach Kameras gesucht, die ruhigere Aufnahmen auch in turbulenter Luft liefern. Bei genug Interesse anderer Piloten kann ich gelegentlich einen Kameravergleich hochladen.

I love flying in the mountains - but they are 300 km away from Wuerzburg. Therefore, I've been dreaming for years to combine both and visit the Alps from Wuerzburg in one flight and fly around the Zugspitze (which is the highest mountain in Germany). The distance is not extraordinary large, but the route lies across the usual thermal routes. Above all, when the thermals are good, the foothills of the Alps are often very weak, so that I have already had to turn around there in previous attempts.
In May 2021, a new attempt succeeded, and it was a great pleasure to experience a Sunday afternoon trip to the Zugspitze! So here is a very short collage of impressions. And as always - apart from 2 liters of fuel for the start - everything done with solar energy :-)
Because of camera changes now as 4K video, with the exception of the 360° camera clips from the cockpit. I had been looking for cameras that provide smoother footage even in turbulent air. If there is enough interest from other pilots, I can occasionally upload a camera comparison.
