Imperial Russia - or rather, a dream-like depiction - is at the heart of Zuhair Murad’s Couture 2018-2019 collection. The grand balls held by tsars in Saint Petersburg give way to a sense of aristocratic opulence. The bridging of the masculine and feminine, of ornamentation and functionality, two usually opposed worlds, reflects today’s, modern woman.

This is the first Haute Courture collection I have ever seen that EVERY presentation was amazing. I could see actual people WANTING to wear that gown because it was beautiful. Beautiful fabrics, drape, design, embroidery everything on every gown was perfect.

The collection was breathtaking! The attention to detail, the craftsmanship, the silhouettes.. I loved it all. The closing dress was the cake topper, just amazing 😍 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Such a beautiful and artistic tribute to the long forgotten and underrated opulence and romance of Imperial Russia. The fabrics,details,silhouettes and absolutely dreamy color palette stole my heart. Rarely does an entire collection take my breath away but this one did and it’s why Zuhair is my favorite designer! Bravo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Dee Renee I loved it, but didn’t realize it was Russian inspired. I was thinking medieval Spanish royalty. Shows how much I know about fashion. lol

Kidlaw77 Well I’m a bit of a history nerd and the colors totally reminded me of Imperial Russia from the get go, especially the deep reds,creamy whites and soft gold. Plus I was curious about his inspiration and it is actually explained in the description box in great detail and it really helps understand his work here.

Deep set, the umbre tones of muted earthy colors and then subtle sages The darker scales of red/roses and deep hues of blues and then golden beige, and black w/sparks. The music course was elegant but notes of a serious period in time, when Covid has overtaken our world.But this beautiful line has sustained it’s strength to make it through.The headdresses are gorgeous hooded apparel,Zahar is perfect 👌😁

The fabric. It's always about the fabric with him. What a feast for the eyes. Tudor England, Queen Élisabeth I, Cleopatra, Flapper Girls, all in there. But didn't like boots with the ethreal gowns.

His designs are nice because they really make the women look beautiful - it’s not about the garment (although they are stunning) it’s about the woman. Everything he makes is designed for a princess or a queen.
