Love me a good Karn deck. I was unfamiliar with colorless decks until I built around Zhulodok. while Eldrazi are fun and all, I was intruiged by Karn and now have a similar list to the one that was played, but with additional stax pieces like Winter Orb, since Karn produces the mana on turn. It's also a bit of a Voltron deck with a bunch of swords, and Commander's Plate.

isnt karn an artifact making him the highest mana total so he should come on to the field as a 5/5?

Yeah, that's why Cayden was hit for 5 commander damage the turn Karn came down. The following attack was also for 5 commander damage, so did we miss something?

in the erietts deck, is grim guardian usefull if you are not going for the combo? I have an eriette deck myself and i dont do infine combos. should i include it eitherway?

It's ok but the combo is what really makes it worth playing. It helps with the nickel and diming drain strategy that Eriette does as the game goes long. You just need to make sure the game goes long to enable it.
