Zus was so handsome..all were! I too loved the book n movie..there should be a memorial for these heroes! Their name should be known n famous as well..what they did was miraculous!
my father, Zus Bielski, never understood why they were the only family to do this armed resistance on a large scale, he said it was the normal thing to do.
Zus is Everyman who didn't get caught up in the Nazi wave and was just being himself he didn't take stuff before, during and after the war, just remained himself.
The strong should protect the weak!!!! I believes this trait along with humility is the characteristics of a hero and these men qualify as hero’s. They didn’t do this for fame they did it because it was right, Such good men

Truly amazing! I can not believe after all the documentaries I have watched that this is the first I’m learning of the Bielski brothers. I watched defiance today and was just amazed...and cried like a baby. I just wonder why this story isn’t/wasn’t more publicized or celebrated. Just Beautiful
Patriotic Resistance? are you kidding? The Bielskis are former Soviet coaborants who collaborated with the enemy against the local community. The Soviets were occupiers there in 1939-1941 and they were the same enemies as the Germans. The Jews who collaborated with the Soviets were also enemies and traitors

We need more street smarts as well as "non educated" people. No one knows how to fix minor car repairs or home repairs..not many real carpenters..we sent a generation to college..and now men with "Hands" are needed!

I just saw the movie I pray that antisemitism never happens not like that! RIP to the Bielskis ! Its such an underrated movie and what they did in real life ! In a way this movie makes me think of Harriet Tubman in some ways! They were and are so brave god bless!

im writting a book on jews and what they went through. its a fiction book. on one scene a little boy escapes a village where jews are getting killed. he runs to the fores. where where he finds others hiding. this just sparked up an idea in my head. i will write the beilski family in my book. im amazed that something like this actually happened. much respect.

I absolutely love the movie "Defiance" and just recently found out about the book.. I have been studying this the last few weeks. I believe that soon we will see this in America due to the vaccines. I see the unvaxed being treated like Jews in WWII.
Movie Defense is primarily based on a historical lie. The Bielski brothers, first of all, were bandits who attacked Polish and Belarusian villages and murdered citizens. This gang has never participated in the battles against the Germans or Russians. Defense is a science fiction movie, not a historical movie. These are the facts. Apart from the fact that the movie has a lousy and inconsistent storyline and the characters are shallow and paper-like.

And what I do know the last of the family was still in Ukraine until 1937 that's when stolen conscripted everybody to dig the Volga canal and my family disappeared
