Random but string tension preferences have always been interesting to me since being a Junior Player. For example, I bought a HEAD Pro Tour 2.0 (best racquet I’ve aver used) 2 years ago with HEAD HAWK Touch at around 55-57lbs and haven’t restrung them since. I’m a 5.0/8.2ish UTR. Strings really are an ever-changing science and preference for people.
@@sharto9618 Well… I played my first tourney in 2 years last month and got cooked by a 9.0 UTR so maybe you’re right. To be fair I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis a week afterwards… Played #1 doubles in college at a division 3 school. Nope I’m not lying, I’ve been playing pickleball recently and trying to save money. My strings actually give me more pace on serve since they have lost tension.
In the picture is is said that Zverev has VS in the mains („Langs“ in German) and hawk touch in the crosses. Is that true? Previously it was the opposite
Seles strung her racquets at 83 lbs on a 102 sq in Yonex RQ-380 before the stabbing…how can one sustain playing hard hitting tennis with that tension? What’s the rationale? Is it so there’s less “calculation” in her shots and all she needed to do was flick the wrist and the angled passing shot would stay in 99.99% of the time?
@@pickley8127 I know for a fact that she used to use Tecnifibre 515 SPL on her Yonex RQ-380 (pre-stabbing) which is a multifilament, which is a good soft string.
Then there's me, I used to go polly and natural, and now string with whatever fence wire is cheaper. I ain't competing at any high level anytime soon, so why bother.
Asking for 20.1 kg may be a good way to make sure your strings are at 20 kg or slightly above, since machines are not perfect. They are accurate up to a certain percentage. So, for example, if the machine is 99.9% accurate, then the lowest tension the machine would pull to is .999*20.1 = 20.0799. So, your strings are going to be between 20.0799 and 20.1kg. Whereas if you asked for 20kg, then .999*20 = 19.98; so your strings may be a little under 20kg.
20 is just an arbitrary number. Still can't tell the difference between 19.9 vs 20 or 20.0 vs 20.1. Feels more like superstition and I bet he can't tell the difference if you put him to a blind hitting test.
