Zwift’s “ZRacing” is the platform’s most popular ongoing race series, and in May we’re racing a set of four routes with fresh achievement badges released in the latest game update. Hop into a race and let’s bag some extra XP this month!
New: Power Meter Required
New this month, Zwift is requiring all racers to use a power meter, smart trainer, or smart bike when entering any Zwift-owned race events. Virtual power, which is based on a speed sensor on your wheel, is being disallowed due to unreliable power accuracy.
This hardware requirement removes “zPower Rangers” from the mix, especially in the A category where riders with dodgy virtual power often land.

Here are the routes we’ll be racing in July (click route for details):
Stage 1 (July 1-7): R.G.V.
1 lap (24.9km, 133m elevation)
Powerup: Draft Boost, Aero Boost
Stage 2 (July 8-14): Casse-Pattes
1 lap (23.8km, 155m elevation)
Powerups: Feather, Draft Boost
Stage 3 (July 15-21): Douce France
1 laps (24.8km, 137m)
Powerups: Draft Boost, Aero Boost
Stage 4 (July 22-28): Champs-Élysées
2 laps (16.4km, 92m)

Nice effort! I too am curious how this will play out, so hopefully I can give you some details (I am the winner btw): The race was very tough, it very much raced like B. I think my score was like 572 or something, going into the race, I had just been auto-moved to B a few weeks back where I'm an upper mid-pack B. I'm a longtime C and couldn't resist racing back as a "C". I was going on vacation for the 4th and peaking so I gave it all the beans on the sprint, I mostly just sat in. I think I had to close down a gap once since no one was working in that moment. I very much like the new scoring system

Congratulations on the win! Thanks for sharing your experience and perspective in this race. I think at the end of the day it will work a little better than what they have currently. As a mid-pack C being in the mix with some very strong riders comparatively is going to really push me for a bit.

I was 568, came third, and my zELO changed to 575. I think the system will mellow out a bit as people's rating shuffles around.

Congratulations on the podium. Mine even with the poor result dropped from 440 to 439. I imagine I will be in this category for a while., but believe they will settle as well.

That racing scoring system is wicked. I’m Category D with a 425 racing score. So I’ll have to compete with CAT A,B. 😢😢😢

That is crazy! I found the pace of my race at the start much faster than normal. We will see how things progress.

I just finished this stage 21th in our group. The results is under 36mins and my score is 525.

So I was recently promoted to Cat C and then when the new Racing Score was released my pace group was back to D yet I’ve been averaging 2.7 wkg. My Zwift racing score is 250. My vELO Rating is 637. Looking at my PB on this course I have a feeling I will get smoked. Guess there is only one way to find out! With all that said, I feel like there are too many ratings and my hope is that this new rating system brings parity and enhances the racer experience. Thanks for the insight and great effort!
