Hey Tully no worries at all with the EAF. I'm glad you found an even better price to buy direct. Actually very much like you I also have recently purchased a very early Xmas present from the ZWO sale direct from them🤔. It was a very big saving for our price in Australia even. If you have any issue with your EAF setup in NINA I recommend Patriot Astro(ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lHrfaR7A0L0.html) channel who had a very good video on setting up. Clear skies. BTW thanks for the Shout-out. 👍
Hey Ollie, you are very welcome! ...thanks so much for your comment and your help with the EAF to (potentially) purchase it from "Testar". I never thought I would actually end up purchasing it directly from china, right now..,with all the issues, Covid etc... Haha.. very cool you've also found something for Christmas! 😄 ;) I'm really looking forward seeing what YOU actually selected. Thanks for the YT channel tip. I already know his channel (and really liking it) but I didn't know he also did stuff about the EAF in NINA - Thanks! Clear skies, mate!
Congrats on the new EAF Tully! At F7 and lower I usually expose my focus shots 5sec for LRGB and 10sec for narrowband. At F10 I sometimes have to expose as long as 10 -15 sec for LRGB and 20 - 30 seconds for narrowband. I've noticed that if I don't expose long enough in narrowband I won't get an accurate point on the curve. I rarely shoot at F10 though (EdgeHD 8 without reducer), usually I'm between F4 and F7 depending on the scope.
Thank so much for your tips & tricks, Joe! Really appreciate this. Seems like you REALLY need significantly longer exposure times to have a working autofocus in narrowband. I will definitely try this! For the beginning I used my Optolong L-Pro filter not to make it TOO difficult for the first EAF session, wich I will talk about in my next video. 👍🏼 Clear skies my friend.
Very Good Review Tully! It never Occurred to me To actually change The Plastic Focuser of my Telescope, I thought This Would Be on my Wishlist, haha. Thanks For This Tutorial in Installation and Black Lash Correction! Clear skies!
Thank you so much, Avanteesh. The same for me... ;) It just makes long imaging sessions much more convenient and when I did the focussing manually using my L-extreme Filter I wish I had this before. cs :)
