In this video, we go over the new products with Simon from ZWO. A lot of questions had been answered already, so I added a few of my own to this short interview. Only edits done were some audio balancing and cut out an interruption. Next year I will have a better interview setup but I think it went well!
Simon does have a RU-vid channel, pop on over and check it out and give him some support! / @teamastroworkz

I like that companies constantly innovate, especially when they consider suggestions from their customers. Way to go ZWO. Thanks for the interview Daylon!

Yep! They were even asking for price suggestions for the rotator. They are listening to everything we say and passing it on to the engineers :)

I’m waiting on a future 3rd iteration harmonic drive model from them. Otherwise I have a complete ZWO setup for my Astro Tech 65EDQ (unfortunately discontinued due to production issues) which works flawlessly on my OLD Ioptron 25ZEQ. Now if only I had decent weather conditions…

Nice. This iteration is working well so far but I get it, another iteration could help drop prices of the current. I hear you on the weather front....

About the future CAA: he says it is 16.5mm long, but what about the adapters you will need to deal with the 54mm opening? Those will increase the optical length and mess up the beloved 21-16.5- 17.5 that made their cameras easy to incorporate into an imaging train.
@AstroEscape
@AstroEscape Год назад
I will have to ask ZWO. For now, I would keep an eye on astronomy-imaging-camera.com/tutorials/best-back-focus-length-solutions-55mm/ They might update it once the CAA is on the market.
@danksolo6183
@danksolo6183 Год назад
So I don’t need to worry about 55mm spacing if I don’t use reducer? What about just a field flattener will that require the 55mm spacing?
@AstroEscape
@AstroEscape Год назад
Yep! They are self-flattening so it's built in 😀
@danksolo6183
@danksolo6183 Год назад
So say the z61 using the w/o flattener with it do you need to worry about 55mm spacing? I took what Simon said in the video only flattener‘s with reducers needed the 55 mm spacing. Or did I misunderstand him?
@AstroEscape
@AstroEscape Год назад
@@danksolo6183 If you mean the William Optics ZS61, then you still need the flattener AND 55mm spacing. When Simon is talking about not needing to worry about those, he is talking only about ZWO's new line of telescopes. The correct spacing is built into the new scopes already by design, adding a reducer cancels that out requiring you to add 55mm back to it.

OK, so the IDAS NBZ (I think is 10nm) won't be a problem with the 2600mc Duo + the ZWO FF107APO.
@AstroEscape
@AstroEscape Год назад
Correct, it's once you start getting into the lower single digits in nanometers that the guide camera starts to have issues.

How long does it take to “fine tune it”? WHEN will the rotator be available?

It is a question we're all asking. But, NEAF is next month, hopefully there's news. Unfortunately, I will not be there this year =/ Because of that, I've asked a few friends that are going to ask for me.

Hi, I saw a pre-order price of $399 USD for the standard kit for the Seestar S50 with a possible delivery of July. That is quite a decent price for what it is. Now did they mention or would you think they would offer a deluxe package for pre-order? I'm wanting to get it but if they end up having compatible accessories come with the deluxe package (similar to the Dwarf II) I hope they would give the ones that order the standard kit a discount for early adoption.
@AstroEscape
@AstroEscape Год назад
No word on a deluxe package. But I can see if they can find a way to conclude light pollution filters and maybe a solar filter for next year's total eclipse :)
@anata5127
@anata5127 Год назад
What is problem with big scope? Get proper camera (Moravian, QHY), get proper filter wheel (ATIK, QHY), quality filters (Astrodon), high end focuser (Moonlite, Optec), accurate mount (AP, Paramount) and everything will be tip-top. ZWO also produce useful equipment for EAA. Maybe 2-4 months training with ZWO low quality equipment, then get rid of it and get proper one for astrophotography.
@AstroEscape
@AstroEscape Год назад
I'm not sure where you are going with this. For cameras, a lot of them use the same sensor. For example, the ZWO ASI533MC and the QHY533C both use the SONY IMX533 C sensor. When deciding between the two, I can see why people would go with ZWO's... it's $150 cheaper for the exact same camera. Really, it's up to the purchaser to do their research and choose what works for them.
@anata5127
@anata5127 Год назад
@@AstroEscape This is a way I thought. Camera is not just sensor. It contains electronic and other parts providing not only reliability, but also performance. Let’s I bring you example. ASI294MM pictures very tough to calibrate, flats has to be long >1-2sec. Calibration with bias aren’t going to cut. Now, QHY and Moravian have cameras with the same sensor. No problem with calibration. Why? Electronic of ZWO doesn’t provide stability of sensor. It overheat during fast acquisition of flat frames, and becomes unstable. Do you need some other examples for their filter wheels and electronic focuser? Nevertheless, good for EAA, nothing more.

“Our scope design”. Really? It is repainted Askar. ZWO designed nothing, it is just reverse engineering of open source software and somewhere existing product.
@AstroEscape

They blatantly admitted that those are Askars. They don't have the means to produce their own, so much like other companies they are working with a company that can manufacture telescopes and putting their sticker on it. It's the same thing as all of the GSO Dobsonians that are out there, for example.
