As far as houseplants go, can we ever have too many? I think not. My home is loaded with them & 1 of my very favorites is tough as nails & so easy to grow. I want to share with you these ZZ Plant care tips so you can enjoy this gorgeous, glossy plant too.
My ZZ was growing like crazy & had gotten tight in its pot so I divided it into 3 plants about a year & a half ago. I gave 1 away & kept 2. Their care requirements are few and they do well & look good even here in the Tucson desert. The leaves have very few dry tips & they’re shiny as can be.
I love my ZZ Plants & so do others who see them. They almost always get the comment: “what is that plant?”. When they put out that glossy green fresh new growth (like mine is doing now) it’s music to my eyes.

Can they get spider mites? Because I had an infested plant with spider mites and that got taken out but my zz plant is still here so far there are no mites on it but I’m scared there probably hibernating in the soil.

Thank you for subscribing! I don't have any chickens - just 2 cats & a lot of wildlife. I grew up on a farm in CT & we had a lot of chickens there. Nell

I repotted my over wet zz plant from a box store that over watered him and I’ve had him for about 3 weeks and the middle of the plant down in the soil is still damp! I have him in terra-cotta and will well draining soil (succulent cactus mix with perlite and bark). Oh and also, this plant gets very bright indirect light. Some of the leaves are turning yellow and curving a bit. Annnd... a lot of the roots has rotted now and not nearly as good of a root system as when I first got it! Like half of the roots are gone. Please help me!! My husband bought this for me so he is very special to me.

You could try to repot it , add fertilized earth, and leave it without watering for a long time to see if it recovers, it looks like its problem was over watering it. I don't know how it works when the roots are rotten, maybe there is a way to save a few sticks and grow them separately.

Your plants look so beautiful! I have a question about watering. I always water my plants in the shower, douse them in water so the soil gets drenched and then just leave them for an hour in the tub so the excess water can drain away. Is it safe to water the zz plant this way?

Mine ALWAYS puts out fall growth lol I gave my brother a zz when I divided it & his put out growth during the summer😱

This plant is often billed as a low light plant but it does much better in moderate light. My larger 1 is in my dining room that has 3 windows & is an east exposure. I keep it about 15' away from the window. I live in Tucson AZ where the sun is strong & shines almost all year round. Nell

they are awesome plants but they do NOT like shade indoors they need light, to grow, so if you plan on keeping them in a dark corner like i have seen other people advise, dont bother, it will not last long
