Over twenty years ago, when I was a toddler, my dad would put this on his record player, hold me in his arms, and gently rock me back and forth until I became tired or fell asleep. Now, I can hardly listen to this song without getting teary-eyed. Such a wonderful memory...

So beautiful to have that memory and how music can affect us Throughout our lives
@stadtjer689
@stadtjer689 Год назад
Thanks for sharing that. Reading this, I pictured a wooden house straight out of a Western, with behind it a man gently rocking a toddler in his arms, looking at the sun setting over the desert. It’s a beautiful picture. And no, I’m not sober. Somehow the fact that your comment is 11 years old adds another nostalgic layer, cause I wonder if you still play this song and still cherish that memory.
@novaraeyne
@novaraeyne Год назад
@@stadtjer689 I got married six years ago and when it came time to choose a song for the father-daughter dance, my dad said, “I’ve had one in mind for a long time.” I said, “I know exactly what song you’re referencing.” During my reception, when it came time to dance, my dad once again rocked me in his arms, swaying with the gentle music of this song. I closed my eyes and laid my head on his shoulder. For a few minutes it was like the entire world faded away. I was his little girl again, transported back to a summer evening at my old house, falling asleep to the most beautiful lullaby I’d ever heard. It was a magical moment.

That is actually one of my personal favorites for album covers - I had the vinyl LP with full gatefold foldout cover. When opened fully up it was a beautiful 24" x 12" piece of art, the color palette was so memorable and the style just wonderfully striking.

Dusty Hill, Thank You for 50+ years of kick as Southern Rock Texas Style. I have seen Y'all play many times & its always a great memorable time. While I did not know you personally ,I do know your deep driving ~bad ass~ back bone bass. that has been there throughout my entire life ,Fueling my Passions & driving me onward. You'll be remembered & missed. Rock On my Hairy Friend. Rock on. "When A Old man dies A Library Burns" ;Author Unknown{ A African Proverb.}

I heard this soulful tune played today on CBS Sunday Morning when they were featuring the people who had died over the past week. It immediately got my attention, shaking off some old cobwebs in my memory banks, but I couldn't remember what song it was. I knew it had to be a ZZ Top song since they were featuring Dusty Hill in the remembrance segment. Good old RU-vid to the rescue. I typed in ZZ Top Instrumental, and it brought me right to this page. RIP, Dusty.

I've been doing exactly THAT, every month or so, for the past 25 years; and this is the ONLY tune that I take along. This is too majestic of an experience to leave for a tomorrow that never comes. Make time to live it, today. When I get to my favorite secluded spot in the desert: I crank the music, lay on the hood of my car, and watch the Universe go by. P.S. Be sure to take your favorite blanket and pillow.
