One of their most sinister tracks... SO glad to have found a live version of this - it's way more raucous than the somewhat subdued studio version, and still retains its integrity. And BFG still one of the finest guitarists in music.

what studio version do you mean by that though? there's like at least 2 clearly distinguishable, but i believe to be 3 different cuts of album versions i found out throughout the years. i like the one where the real crazy bassdrum bounce on the last bridge riff is super pronounced and the outro is stretched out way longer, it's a bit dryer on the guitar parts too, you can hear every little ghost snare in the drumming part on that end part, it's by far the superior version to me, that drum part on the end of that version is very dear to me and i need it for my fix. (that version is also on the chrome smoke & bbq collector) but i found later versions (released before that collector though) have more pronounced chorus, and a reverb/slapback effect on top of it that's nearly undetectable in the other version, sounds a bit wetter and less tight in the rhythm department as a result of it, and the effects drown out the drum parts a lot more. the ghost snares are almost completely drowned out, i suspect they may have had several producers have a go at the same already laid down tracks it at some point. 3rd one is like the 2nd one, but a tamer in the high ends, convinced it's just a remaster of that 2nd version, and nothing else, but as it's more gated and tamed, it dampens the fat layer of effects a bit too, it's unfortunately usually the one you find first, fuck anything but the dry version.

@@dutchdykefinger You are talking about the Sixpack remixes. They are universally reviled. The drums on First Album/Rio Grande Mud/Tres Hombres/Fandango (studio half)/Tejas were replaced with a triggered, reverbed drum machine. These versions were the standard on CD for many years until the Chrome, Smoke & BBQ set came out and later the 10CD set.

I grew up with Rockpalast in those years, the intro tune that they used was a coversong played by the J Geilsband. What a wonderful time, only handmade music, hips hops and rapcrap didn't excist, DJ's were people who played records on the radio. Where did it go wrong??

g funk I think what I read about Billy using an MXR Flanger and Eddie Van Halen being inspired to use one because of Billy was totally wrong.
