Thank you so much for sharing. Silly question but what is the oil that's already in the pan when you pour the berries in?

fantastic video, what did you do differently between the leather and the suede hide. Did you work it more on the post on both sides to make it a suede. cheers

you've been making hide processing videos for good four years and still call yourself a beginner. impossible to judge from the video if the craft is really that intricate, though

Interesting to hear and see, Samuel. When I was early teens, one of my dad’s hunting buddies gave me a deer hide. I never thought to go the library (no internet back then) to learn how to tan it, and it eventually started rotting so my dad threw it out. The only thing I had heard about tanning, was from a Native American POV in a fiction story set in the ‘old west’. All I remember is, they used the brains of the animal combined with something else. Well, that led me think I couldn’t do it, and so I never looked further. Makes me wonder how tanning was first discovered, long ago. Thank you for this.

Watch Ron nails videos on brain tanning , the man has a system that works the best I have ever done for soft suppel buck skin hides. Best tip I have for others is when you think your done your not rub some more brains into it an do it again 3 x is usually the magic number for heavy hides. 1 to 2 is. For deer.dont forget to stretch it out and let it sun dry then dry scape the hair side real well .then the Inside till all the crud is gone.

What's the egg solution your using?
@sammysmokies
@sammysmokies 2 месяца назад
Half a dozen egg yolks, cup of olive oil and warm water. This hide took 3 softening sessions, first one was brains.

Treat your wood before using and treat cuts after making them. Gives you more years of use with a small cost

What particular tools were you using there? I don’t think I’ve seen a saw blade like that before and I know for sure I’ve never seen a drill bit with a crank handle on it! 😮 Great build though. Useful for any task you’d need to carry lots of items for and probably more efficient than a modern wagon.
