I'm Rob! I'm a TeamSport #Grid Elite member, and I go racing.
I am a motor racing fan, and for years I have been watching the best drivers in the world at work. Well now it's my turn. Join me as I start my racing career from scratch, learning how to drive a go-kart and make every lap count.
I'll be driving in many different locations, but mostly in Sheffield. I'll be driving both indoor and outdoor venues. Subscribe to my channel and join me on my journey as I learn how to drive a go-kart as quickly as possible!
Lap 20: I thought you were lapping me mate 😂. Tried my best keeping you behind for a bit (ofc your fastest lap..) and then thought best letting you through and follow your lines.
How do you eliminate the kart bouncing round corners? Is this a product of me turning in too much causing understeer/bounce? The bouncing absolutely wrecked me on my first GP2 race last week. Ps tried my best letting you lot through when I got lapped and keep with your lines, learnt a lot.
I looked into doing this (or similar) and ended up not doing a single job. The driver agency made me jump through ridiculous hoops to qualify to do it and then took the piss massively as I was clearly being used as a last resort, are rather not being used. Waited nearly a week to hear from them then get a call out of the blue asking me to me to be 30 miles away at 8am the next morning where I would meet an inspector and a team of drivers that drive the inspected car to wherever. That's 60 mile round trip and could only be practically done by car at my own expense. Then I get a call at 7am the following morning saying the job was cancelled. A full week later I get a call at 8am out of the blue asking me to be 44 miles away in one hour, so an 88 mile round trip and again had to be at my expense by own car. That's taking the piss but I dropped all the days plans and got in the car. 15 minutes later and ten miles down the road they call again and cancel again. I asked them to take me off their books and delete my data. Final piss take? I started getting dodgy messages asking me if I was still looking for work as they had excellent opportunities for me, they were scams. The agency had clearly leaked my personal and private data.
Hey Rob can you go to teamsport Bristol in avonmouth cause I go their I'm a member and also in the BIKC championship and also in the race academy I just wanted to know what kind of laps times you would make at that track mines PB is a 37.510
Very dirty pass, I would've been fuming! I'm all for a divebomb but there's a point where you back out and he was way beyond that 😅 Ah well, there's always next time. Looks like a fun event! Hoping to do a 50 lap race when I next come up to Sheffield, The plan is in the works with Ryan and we want to hit as many of the northern tracks we can whilst we're up there!
Sheffield always makes for a good 50 lapper. One of the most demanding tracks though I find it painful on my back which is probably why I've not done a Thursday members event there.
wait what? £100 and you have to make your won way home... thats less than a min wage job and you still have to find your own way home so could end up in negative? that makes absolutly zero sense. why wouldnt you just do uber or uber eats? make more, less bullshit and you can decide howmany runs you make
£100 Sheffield to London?? Minus travel expense for your return? AND If you have to pay the excess for any damage, including windscreen it`s an absolute joke, and unless you are very lucky you will do a screen/tyre at some point which wipes out your last 5+ jobs? yea forget that
I used to do this in the 1980s delivering and collecting lease cars for a company called Bowyers in London. A lot of the drivers were out of work actors. I used to use the trade plates for lifts or bunk the train and could make around £70 a day back then. Not sure its progressed money wise much since then.
Kart 13 today felt like it only had half of an accelerator pedal today. 15 went like a stabbed rat so did 24 and 7. Still obviously not had a cycle of checks through the team garage yet as there was lots of variability in karts. I drove all of the above karts so can say from personal experience. Day before racing the same karts at Bradford the ones at Sheffield are deffo slower at the moment. Heavyweights today doing 1:01 and change with the better performing karts. Lightweights only hitting 0:58. All BIKC racers.
Yes, but they are starting with the easier/cheaper ones! Some tracks, like Sheffield, will need a fair bit of work as they'll need larger out areas for the chargers
