How do you get clients? Because Upwork is good but the connection takes a lot and you have to keep buying and it can be frustrating at times.
@hellostephaniem

Yeah I haven't had the best success with Upwork. I've found all my clients from people that I know directly. I would try pitching to your family or friends, or if they know someone. Word of mouth is always easiest I've found. Good luck!

Great job breaking this down into responsibilities, however, I have to disagree. Product Designers must also focus on users. User Experience Designers must also consider the business. The outputs are in fact completely the same deliverables. You can design a good product without considering the user and you can provide an experience that the business can't pay for or shouldn't do. I think you should talk to people who have held both roles. The trouble enlies on if the product strategy is dictated from Product Managers or collaborated on and facilitated by UX Research (oftern a hat worn by designers) . Short story long, biggest influence on my reasoning is I've never heard of a Product Designer AND a UX Designer being on the same team.

Some of us predicted the challenges that would emerge in the UX industry many years ago-and many blew it off as nonsense. The truth is UX professionals are the first to go when a company cuts back, mostly because many don't see the value in it. The same will happen when AI becomes more prevalent because a lot can happen in just a handful of years, as the UX job market has proven.
@andrewvynarchyk4911

@michaelfbuckley Any suggestions on how we can prepare for these changes as ux designers? What should designers be doing right now to stay relevant in the future?
@michaelfbuckley
@michaelfbuckley 5 дней назад
@@andrewvynarchyk4911 Yes. Go into product design or graphic design if you want to design. If you want to do UX, become a UX manager or researcher.

Hi, love your videos and it is really helpful for me since I am stuck and I am considering changeing to UX . However, this may sound like a dumb question but all the project in your portfolio are real? Like would I be able to fin dthese websites or apps? Or they ''fake'' and its a way to show how a potential app can be created and breaking down every steps?

So I just left a position where I worked there for 5 years. I started at 52k and ended at 60k. I wore multiple hats while working there so not just UX (seo, ui, web design, and some front end development). It was a luxury window and door manufacturing company. I started working on site, drove an hour fifteen 5x a week- in 2020 role switched to fully remote. I just started a JR UX position at business to business insurance company. Job is hybrid, I’m making 108k. I applied to over 300 positions 290 of those were remote over a 3 month period. Just figured I’d share that for those trying to land a job. My undergrad is in graphic design and I’m getting a masters in software engineering to help me better understand the full software development process.

Hi Stephanie, what is your opinion/ what have you heard on UX Apprenticeships? I have a bach degree in Web/App Development & the Google UX Cert and as of right now I applied for Interaction Design Grad School, but even if I get in, I don't think I can afford it at all, even with loans. I haven't been able to find work in a year and this includes things outside of UX like retail and food service. I just feel really helpless and would love to do a bootcamp as well but I have no money. So I am applying to apprenticeships that require no upfront cost from me. Do you have any advice for someone like me?

I really liked how you focused on tasks, insights, pain points and evidence. Especially the pain points seem really important, especially considering they are 'human pain points', and I personally experience as a developer that it's easy to rush over this and just think in terms of functionality.
