During the late '60s and '70s Tammy Wynette dominated the country charts, scoring 17 #1 hits - earning her the title as "The First Lady of Country Music." Born Virginia Wynette Pugh, and raised in Mississippi, she taught herself to play a variety of instruments left behind by her father who died when she was eight years old.
Critics call her a legend, fans a heroine, but the names she loved most are what she was first: Tammy Wynette, wife and mother. .
Oh dear, what an amazing melodious Singer you are and as a Divorcee, I do admire those lyrics! May you continue to experience extreme peace and joy in your life and in the hereafter (Amen/Ameen)! Cheers, stay safe, stay well and do keep singing! Until then, it's therefore Goodbye from Him and goodbye from me (laugh)! Who is the lunatic who directed and filmed this segment - with that stupid fade in and fade out of that tiger lily. It's making me motion sick. Poor Tammy.
Such awesome childhood memories listening to this.....still listening 40years later. My son still calls it "Mum's happy music" bcos I sing along. I find him playing it sometimes so the legacy will continue long after I am gone.🙏❤❤❤❤
George was crazy about Tammy. You sure never saw him look at anyone like he looked at her. They were always showing physical affection, not some forced out obligation shows of affection, the real deal. When you’ve known true love you clearly recognize it between them.
Normally, I would have definitely UP-voted this... But there's an obnoxious thing that Tammy does in quite a few videos where she's singing close with George: She makes a big thing out of wiping the spit off her face! Yes, if you're singing 6 inches away from each other, you're going to accidentally spit on each other! It happens, and pros ignore it. But Tammy always makes a big public deal out of wiping her face. An attempt to belittle George, and it ruined this video for me.
TRULY ALWAYS DID LOVE EACH OTHER.. MUSIC INDUSTRY SURE MESSED WITH SOMETHING SO BEAUTIFUL.. DECADES LATER DID THE SAME W KERSHAW.. AMAZING THE THINGS IT WANTS FROM TALENTS
Cried myself to sleep for more than a year to this song, and "I don't want to play house", and when we divorced. And every time I hear it brings back one of the worst times of my life, even though both my ex and I have married again, and neither of us had cheated.
This song helped take some of the stigma off the word "divorce". Women weren't as embarrassed to walk away from their abusive, cheating husbands after this one hit.
