You and Me" is a 1976 single written by Billy Sherrill and George Richey and recorded by Tammy Wynette. "You and Me" was Tammy Wynette's sixteenth and final number one country hit as a solo artist. The single stayed at number one for two weeks and spent a total of twelve weeks on the country chart.
Right after she was done with George. George Jones later sang “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes” and the answer to that is nobody. Male or female. Modern country is awful. Nobody can touch this.
This is an amazing song and performance. Just haunting, but I don’t understand why everyone says that it is a romantic song…just the opposite; Tammy is NOT in love with her man but longs for a man whom she cannot have. it’s really a song of love unfulfilled; not romance. Amazing song nonetheless, but I’m not sure if people really understand how well it is written and what it really means.
I know Ritchie part wrote this song about Tammy but I really do wonder who Tammy herself is thinking of here while singing this (it's someone as she looks sad) Maybe Reynolds or Jones?
No her husband George Richey wrote this song for her if you knew anything about Tammy you seen a video of how her husband wrote this song just for her.
@@song4you80 thank you but look at the tammy wynette interview with Burt part 3 I think she says it's for you maybe I wish I could send you some kind of link but unfortunately I can't
My 2nd marriage after 13 years alone found me again at home by myself, while he drank and partied, listening to these songs by candle light dreaming about a 2 month love affair I had during those 13 years. Then divorced that affair got together and created with the Lord a beautiful baby girl. He's gone now, he cheated and I wasn't gonna live with that.
