@@67polara I am 36 (not that age matters, good music is good music) and I really enjoy songs from the WWII period such as They’ll be Bluebirds over the White Cliffs of Dover, Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition, Comin’ in on a Wing and a Prayer, etc…and Jazz music from the likes of Benny Goodman, Count Basie, etc
ignorant comment. there’s country like this being made by many artists today, just because there’s more mainstream music that you dislike doesn’t mean it’s bad music. open your mind, or stop being so dismissive of things that don’t intrigue you, there’s no need for the negativity.
I was hesitant to watch it, but it was done much better than I expected. I always have those old made for to movies stuck in my imagination for biographicals.
You know they both did remarry. They were in love with their spouses. How do think they felt with so many people going about Tammy and George saying Tammy and George still love each other or they should be together, etc. Tammy and George divorced for good reasons. The abuse was too much. When abuse happens, the so called “beautiful” love story turns into a horrible love story. My biological dad abused my mother, my siblings and me. He nearly killed my mom and me when she was pregnant with me. If anyone were to ever say their love story was beautiful my mother would laugh and the tell you exactly how wrong you are. People really need to stop calling it beautiful when really it was not. Look at their spouses and learn their love stories instead.
They remind me of my mom and dad.. rocky marriage but true love. Even the song.. He stopped loving her today was their story. They started in 1962 and they loved each other till the day he died..
A true love story. Two beautiful voices. I loved the 6 part showtime series George and Tammy. I think she still loved George, but couldn't live with him.❤❤
@@medusaslair where are you from? Because I'm in Tampa and pill mills were everywhere. People were robbing there grandma to get oxy and morphine and now fentanayl. She would not be with George Jones because he would shoot her up. Nobody needed that much medicine. She was an addict. God bless her and the Dr's should be held responsible for her death. I don't care if you don't agree with me
Their harmonies are just insane! The best male and female country voices in history and together - wow! The chemistry and emotion is just so real and very much still raw here - I mean there are so many times, where George has to look away in order to hold it together and keep the tears from falling!
I saw Tammy Wynette at The Sheffield City Hall when she toured the UK,. During one of her songs she stepped down from the stage and made her way towards the audience and along the rows of seats shaking people's hands with one hand and singing into her microphone wiith the other it was amazing I have never seen an artist do that before.
Grandma loved this song. Said it made her happy to keep her marriage strong for so long. We recently lost grandpa, a couple years ago we lost grandma. Haven't been able to get this out of my head since his passing.
Saw them in 95 at the Peach festival in Gaffney S.C. This is what Country Music sounds like So Beautiful the way they look at each other while they sing this song . True Story BTW 💙⚡
The way Jones plays around his recorded part but stays in the pocket....he's the greatest. And Tammy playing around that....she's the greatest as well. I appreciate Tyler Mahan Coe and his Podcast Cocaine & Rhinestones for teaching me so much more about George and Tammy than I'd have ever known without him. TMC - thank you so much for the gift.
RIP George Jones (September 12, 1931 - April 26, 2013), aged 81 And RIP Tammy Wynette (May 5, 1942 - April 6, 1998), aged 55 You both will be remembered as legends.
I’m so very proud to be country ! I was born n raised in Tennessee! The best heartfelt music I’ve ever heard except gospel music being the closest to God !! George Jones and Tammy Wynette are country music! This is golden!
How lucky to have been born and raised in Tennessee. I would love to have visited nashville to go into George jones museum and Ernest tubbs and Alan Jackson shops. Sad how so many shops and museums have gone. George left a fortune behind and his daughter Georgette was homeless and has now only just bought their first home. Shame on NS, George would have been heart broken knowing how she treated his and Tammy's daughter 😭 jealous women, she soon got Georgette out of his life. Money will not do NS no good. Karma
I remember when I was young my parents had these shows on with these two playing and I always like the music they always seem so happy. Never thought there was any problems. I was just a young girl at the time, they weren't my type of music. But I did like their songs as I got older.. but I never knew the tragedy between the two.
Who was more beautiful and distinctive than Tammy Wynette? Not putting anybody else in second place (Dolly, Patsy, Loretta), but she was so much a different element. Tragic to lose her so soon but performances like this show just how special of a performer she was. And her and George were like gasoline and kerosene together. Burning bright but burning hard. Love having this video here to revisit when needed.
Dear Tammy, in heaven. You and Momma sang together and we saw you in Tennessee at Opryland. You were so funny.,...me and Momma were singing when you accidentally swallowed a bug, and I handled it just fine by joking about it. And you drank some water joking with everybody......you started back and finished the song Divorce! Me and Momma just had a wonderful day at Opryland U.S.A. You touched our hearts. We always had you playing in our 1968 Dodge Charger with all your 8 tracks we had! BLESS YOUR HEART TAMMY!
I really loved George and Tammy, talk about harmony, these 2 were the Perfect country Artists. If only they could of stayed together. I like George new wife, both gone to soon, rip George and Tammy, so blessed to of grown up listening to real true country singers
The original king and queen of country music ..... the way they look at each other is how my nan and grandad looked at each other for 50 years .... with nothing but love and admiration for one another❤❤❤
Tammy's good here singing this with Ole possum! But George Jones is a true 1 of a kind, never to ever be graced with his voice ever again! The Lord don't make those shoes anymore!
@@kristybarker2771 that's the point. they recorded this in the year after their divorce. they didn't really stop loving each other at least on george's end. she just had to leave for her safety.
My uncle, Jerry Starr, played lead guitar for George back in the '60's. I heard many stories about George! But uncle Jerry always had the utmost respect for him. One thing is for sure ...there will NEVER be another George! What a treasure.
The thousands at this concert were truly blessed. I saw George Jones live in North Bay, Ontario, Canada in my younger days and was awe struck he truly is a legend. To see him and the beautiful Tammy together must be the icing on the cake lucky you. I hope they live for ever.
I was never partial to blonde ladies but Ms Tammy just did something for me. I always thought she was simply beautiful not to mention her bell like pipes were on a whole other level. And so unique. Definitely country royalty.
Still remember this great song on radio stations back then. Now classic hit song on radio stations. Thank You. Back then got see Tammy Wynette in Fan Fair at Tennessee State Fair. Lots great memories lane though yrs.
I just had the opportunity to watch the Showtime series and I could not stop until I watched every episode. These people sang what they lived and this is truly country music. I wish I could say as much about what we're hearing today that they're calling country music so far-fetched😢
J' aime beaucoup, superbe chanson en duo , je prends vraiment un grand plaisir de les écouter tout les deux. Très agréable mélodie, j'adore !.. Bravo à vous deux !.. Georges Moustacas
This Detroit black lady loved George and tammy even more than June and Johnny cash George's voice was like heaven also miss patsy Cline and now the great Charlie pride
