Gear I use and recommend,
Canon R7 amzn.to/3LsQhR0
Canon EOS R8 amzn.to/3YTbhDB
Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro amzn.to/3JBizrb
@@jonlikesplanes It does have the same sensor and autofocus but not the same buffer. The top shutter speed is half of the R6II and my R 1/4000th compared to 1/8000th. Battery is smaller no sensor cover it is a great camera I own it But the R7 can be a back up to a R3 It has the speed and buffer to do pro sports a R8 can be a good wedding camera
I can’t set shortcut for davinci… but I can use my external keyboard with no problems in other apps. I can use command option K shortcut but after that I can’t change shortcut (with other key for example)
This specific lens requires a certificate of attendance at the local gym, to prevent shoulder and back injury!!! 😂 It certainly is a beast, but the images have super contrast and sharpness.
Pretty much everyone that does these videos are never thorough? I used my R7 and enabled focus bracketing and took some photos. When I am done, all there is are the number of photos I took with no finished image? This is left out on the videos. I cannot find a stacked image any wheres? Where does the camera store it?
The Image sensor on my R7 is wobbling /moving around . .is this a fault or is that meant to be like that ? , I would of thought it should be fixed firmly ,Mmmm .
I'm a musician who just recently bought one of these I've been able to record regular but can't figure out the mic system do you plug right in or can I use my pa system..
@johnmorrisproductions thanks I actually just now figured it out I was able to record straight into it and record my bass with exterior microphones this system is the best so much more simple than using like pro tools or computer software
Bought a battery grip for mine, so I've had no battery issues and never experienced overheating while spending 5 hours outside recording at an event using a filmcity rig.
If you could only choose a camera based on budget, which would you choose Canon R6 II Canon R7 or Canon R 8 (I have many Canon EF lenses from the L series. Greetings from Spain.
QUESTION: I'm currently using a Canon 77D with a Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 lens and am looking to upgrade to a Canon mirrorless body within a budget of $1000-$1500. I mainly want to use it for event (Corporate/Institutional) Photography in conferences, meetings, seminars, outdoor activities, and some video interviews (Corporate). Which camera model would you recommend that would pair well with my existing lens and provide a significant upgrade in terms of features, performance and budget? Thanks!
I have been shooting with the Eos t3 for a few years now, it was given to me from my sister, and I’ve learned how to use a camera and have had a blast shooting around with it, but now I’m ready to upgrade, I have about 3k saved up which camera and lens would be best choice? I’m just a hobbyist.
That's awesome! The R8 is a phenomenal all around camera! But if you want a better camera, the R6II has a ton of great additions. Below are 2 sets of recommendations, you can mix and mach the lenses and cameras to fine the best option for you! R6II Rig: Camera: amzn.to/4bg0VDX Lens: 85mm amzn.to/3xwbmWc Lens: 50mm amzn.to/4cceUvZ Lens 28mm amzn.to/4c3Zz0o R8 Rig: Camera: amzn.to/3z45NPc Lens: amzn.to/4bcxAdQ (Renewed) Lens: amzn.to/3VKq19D (Not Renewed, but over budget) If you have any other questions, let me know!
I’m sorry you feel that way, we try our best to be as honest as we can in our content. If you don’t like our content, that’s okay, but you don’t have to be rude about it. Maybe try this instead, Cool video! One thing I’m noticing though is from my point of view it seems like you’re trying to make the footage look bad. Just curious if you guys are being paid from another manufacturer to make the video this way. If not, I’m so sorry, but I just wanted to make sure. On this channel we want to be positive and encouraging, can you help us with that mission too? Thanks! JMP Social Team
@@johnmorrisproductions I agree John, I was too rude in my comment , I apologize for that (I also wrote it yesterday, late in the night, after having some drinks...😶). Also, the Sony fanboys and their permanent trash of Blackmagic make some of us overreactive sometimes. Your re-phrasing of my comment sounds much better and less rude, but I have to tell you that I am not a native speaker of English. I think, I just should have commented something like this: "Interesting video guys, but I have the feeling that there is something off with the colors in your footage and some of the shots looked like overexposed. So I wonder how did you exposed this and what color grading did you apply in post? Also I think the depth of field on your shots is just too shallow, sometimes it's nice to be able to see more elements on the scene than just a fragment in focus. Anyway, I really like the images that this BM 6K FF can produce, thanks for sharing your footage and thoughts."
Absolutely! Thank you so much! As far as the color is concerned, I shot everything in Raw, so I was able to expose in post, I edited it in DaVinci Resolve with DaVici Wide gamut and then transformed it to DCI-P3 in SRGB. Thanks so much for your response!
The low light performance in the video and the dynamic range are also not as good as Lumix s5ii. Even micro 4/3 G9ii is also better for video. Rf lens is much more expensive.
I have two files of each recording. A TrMic.Wav file and a TrLR.WAV file. What is the difference between the two files and which would be best to use on recorded ambient nature sounds such as rivers and streams?
Advice caution the Zoom H6 essential ASIO driver is not compatible with the windows 11 arm64 and the error reported is it required x64 processor. I have been informed that there is no solution for this situation. It cannot be used as a audio interface on windows 11 arm 64.

I have a friend that wants to donate some old cameras to you, if you’d like them. Maybe you can share on the history a bit of how the camera has developed from these old, vintage ones? I’ll let you know when I receive them from her. Would you like them? Does that sound like a potential idea to expound on? For a short or long?
I will take a full-frame sensor over a crop sensor every day. The low light performance is the main reason. Plus, something he fails to mention, an EF to RF adapter will allow you to get great lenses much cheaper. You are doing a review without owning the other camera is a bit wrong. The R7 and R8 are not what I would consider a professional camera. They are the next step, but not pro-level. Any pro will use a R5, R6, or R3 with top-notch L-series glass. An inexpensive lens is that way for a reason. It will not give you the performance of Canon L series glass.
I have a question, is the video crop mode in 1080 on the R8 downsampled from 4k or pixel binned? I've read that the R is downsample meaning the 1080 in crop mode is much more sharper than in full frame.
Yeah but now compare it to the 40fps option in the r8 which the R7 can’t do. The R8 is a far more capable camera and being full frame its low light capabilities are also a lot better.
@@johnmorrisproductions You misunderstood it and ignored the fact that they were talking about editing in Final Cut, not DaVinci Resolve, and they call it a professional workflow. And only afterwards mentioned that through Apple Compressor, it can also be used in DaVinci. In no way does it mean that Apple wants to replace Final Cut with DaVinci. And Apple does not use Resolve for editing; they consider it a complement to Final Cut for color grading. As for editing and effects, I've seen Premiere, After Effects, and I assume Avid.
@@johnmorrisproductions Man I mean it when I say you deserve a lot more views and I'm sure soon enough you'll post something that will blow up. You have the image quality, good editing, charisma and knowledge. I firmly believe that if you just keep posting this great content the algorithm gods will do their thing!!!!
Buyers beware the zoom h6 essential is not compatible as an audio interface on windows 11 arm 64 computers. The driver available is only for x64 processors. I am stuck with my device .

I have a doubt...about mega pixels... The r7 provide 32 mp and r8 provide 24 mp so does that mean r7 is better than r8 ....i mean in terms of megapixels...does this effect the sharpness or quality of the picture....plz do reply
The reason I would get the R7 over the R8 as a professional is for two reasons 1. The R7 has two card slots, redundancy is super important, just in case 2. The R7 has an actual shutter, the electronic shutter leaves much to be desired in fast paced scenes with high velocity moving objects/subjects. The R7’s only real weakness is that it will struggle more in low light, that much is clear.
Hey, I noticed you get Davinci Resolve Studio for free with your Blackmagic product purchase. Since you already have it, could you please share it with me?
If you want to connect it to a computer. Just make sure the USB mode for audio interface is enabled, and then plug it in and change your audio input to the interface.
