If more locomotives from the LNER such as the Gresley A1s, Gresley A3s and Gresley A4s had went to the Woodham Brothers scrapyards, we might have had more saved for preservation.
I will have to keep my eyes peeled I visit the North norfolk quite alot, yes NNR have had a handful of locos bail out of service for overhaul recently.
0:08 There are two S15’s at Grosmont in much worse condition than this. The owner bought 3 out of Barry, and 2 ended up with cracked frames, and became donor parts for 825. So there are some like this that were rescued, but ended up broken and abandoned.

The Silver Jubilee was based for a year or two at Bramber Castle around 1935 and was one of 4 major tourist attractions responsible for the high volume of visitors coming to Bramber by train. The Locomotive at Eastleigh is that very same train! As it was also on our route and is technically a real steam locomotive, we thought it would be good to work it into the local history of our series. Do you have a name other than Kineticrail you would like me to use in the credits or I can use that one to advertise your channel. I am just very grateful to you.

It is a lovely line well worth a visit if your in the area. Yes the 31 is a bit different being in the slightly different blue. Thank you alway try to find good spots for the videos
Thanks has been on the to do list for a few years now. Yer since changing the company i work for i dont get as many completely free weekends so didnt get many chance to plan trips. Should be able to get to a couple more this year all being well.
@@D9019 well worth the visit nice place and friendly volunteers. I have a few jotted down but nothing set in stone. Does depend on if and when I get the spare weekends. What about you have you get any trips planned

@@D9019 plenty in the diary then I did notice you hadn't been doing videos. Ongar gala looks to be good Lady of Legend and Leander. I have been volunteering there for the last 2 years so will probably up there for some of the gala
I like GNR C2 No. 990 “Henry Oakley” and I’m not sure what the NRM plan to do with it. The loco has been tucked up in the NRM paint shop for around two years, so I hope they’ll be putting it on display in either the grand hall or the station hall.
Britain was very strangely lucky. Not only the locos saved from Barry, but also the plethora of axed branch lines to run on today! Its strange to think that the much maligned Mr Beeching laid the foundations for the preserved railways in operation today.
In the picture of the Standard 4 prior to restoration, Merchant Navy 35011 can be seen in front of it. There is another video on YT of 35010 being moved pending it's future restoration. I hope they both are up and running together one day.
35011 looks set to steam at somepoint the general steam navigation group are doing some good work on it. As for 35010 i would say the jury is out not much has been done if anything and the group that owns it has enough on their hands working on thier black five.

My brother and I visited Dai Woodham's yard in the late 60's, there must've been 300 locos rusting away there. So good to see that so many have been returned to their former glory.
@@bobtudbury8505 not seen a nuclear powered train before. I think diesel fumes are damaging to the environment aswell up close and from a distance. Yes like I said they all have the bad sides just a case of personal preference. Getting rude just because someone is happy to challenge your thinking. I think it you that needs a word with yourself.
@@bobtudbury8505 i know everything carries a risk i have agreed with you when have said and merely stated that we all have our preferences. Im sure nuclear has been used for many things but i said i didnt think nuclear power trains had been tried seens as thats what we are discussing.

This locomotive is definitely an oddball thanks to it's conversion to Douglas; The tender and top-half give it a vintage vibe, but then the driving wheels gives off a more 'recent' feel!
Given that it is so far-strayed from it's original Hunslet-Austerity image, I think this locomotive has potential to be painted in multiple different liveries, especially rarer or non-existent types among heritage circles.
