To recap: I have a 1983 FXWG, if the battery voltage is good, the bike is charging and the stator is not grounding out then it's most likely the voltage regulator (or wiring in between), correct?
Sorry I like Harley’s and all but the best solution is to just get a Honda shadow. Best bikes ever made I swear. It rarely tears up and if it does it’s so much cheaper to fix and upgrade.
Hadn't really even considered putting the drink holder on the engine guard instead of the handle bar. So..... putting a cold drink down beside a hot motor works ok ???
I totaled my Softail bcuz some stupid little b#$*h made a left hand turn in front of me insurance is a joke f#$k insurance altogether! Hey John, my wife has a 2013 XL 883 L and a PO 107 ( map sensor) code came up. coming off the throttle cable assembly there is a plastic piece that goes over the map. How much has to come off to get to the map. I haven't been able to find any videos on this subject. I reset the code and used throttle body cleaner and now having trouble starting it altogether . Any help would be appreciated thanks
Was doing mine last night and forgot to slack my clutch cable first. Adjusted the basket and went to pull lever and… clunk followed by lever going slack. Played with it for about 10 minutes, setting the adjustment about 3 or 4 times (this time with cable slacked and then restoring it) before it started feeling okay. Went for quick ride and it feels normal. Did I screw something up majorly or just a lesson learned the hard way?
I see that MMI forgot to teach you about using black nitrile gloves and the proper use of a shop towel instead of using the front of your pants! And, how your hair and beard isn’t a hazard working around bikes?? Why everyone thinks they have to look like a biker while working on HD’s is a thing of the past and not necessary. The only good point you mentioned about coming out of MMI was to humble yourself since you won’t know crap coming into a dealership. That’s when the real training begins. I would also point out that your attendance at MMI would be most crucial since dealerships look at your attendance score rating showing us whether or not you showed up to class to actually learn something. In addition, MMI (If you are reading my comments here) stop brainwashing these kids telling them how much they can demand coming out of school. Most of them aren’t worth $12 an hour. As far as the certifications, it’s all toilet paper at the end of the day! You either have it or you don’t since it’s all nut and bolts, and it all has the same theories. Fuel, compression, spark, or suck, bang, blow, tire changes, seat swaps, stereo installs, paint, accessory installs, big bore kits, you get my point. All repetitive every day. Now, can you really troubleshoot at all? At the end of the day, look professional and not a greasy mess, put your tools away, stop the smoke breaks, and the bathroom is not an Internet cafe…..shit and split…time is money! Be ready for work ten minutes prior to your start time! And a good tech will try and figure out his or her ELR for each day to see if they are an asset or just a body wasting dealership dollars. ELR….effective labor rate! Lastly, keep your hands off someone else’s gas tank! Gee whiz!

Help! I just bought a 2021 Street Bob. It sat for a while before I bought it. It starts fine and the lights and all work fine. However, when I plug it into the trickle charger (works fine elsewhere), I get a flashing red on charger indicating its not charging. The bike is like new with just over 1000 miles. Why would the battery not charge on trickle if it's not completely dead. Tried 2 different trickle chargers, same problem. Thanks!
Im saving for a streetbob as its 1700cc and has a old school look, but thinking of a fatbob as i miss my old one. I have time to decide, must say hate the new fatbobs as that square light is really crap looking
I break them up with full synthetic in engine gear oil in tranny and primary oil in primary by Lucas in big totes so I'm covered for years. 5k on engine and 10k on primary and tranny.
Having issues with a 16 Road Glide after a routine bar swap. Smh. Little shops get stuck with this kind of problem and it bleeds the profit right out of a simple job and worse yet can end up costing the shop money because typical customers don’t understand who’s responsibility an issue like this is. Smfh. The recall for the 16 doesn’t address the slave cylinder either, just a distilled water and isopropyl alcohol wash for the master cylinder. That was the beginning of these issues being identified and a quick fix to satisfy the NTSB to show HD was at least doing something about it. Such a bunch of crap. Your videos rock though & thanks for keeping people up on things. MLH&R ~
I had a question regarding a 2017 Harley Davidson Heritage classic. The date port on my bike there’s only a plug port with a cap on it. Is that the one you connect to for accessories.
