What is going on guys! I'm Maryland Master Angler Adam Krauss, and this is my Multi-Species Fishing Channel.
I am mainly a freshwater/brackish water angler that usually fishes from the bank, and now more recently from kayak.
I am also mainly a catch and release angler, but I'll keep some species according to law occasionally.
Subscribe to enjoy fishing adventures, tips, nature and more in Maryland also sometimes in different parts of the U.S.A.
I usually put out at least one video every week (Full videos will be uploaded at 2pm) but If you subscribe I'd recommend turning on post notifications.

A selection of snakehead in Maryland were tagged for research purposes (migration habits, growth etc.) some with $10 yellow tags and others with blue $200 tags. If you catch one just follow the instructions on the tag. Fish & Wildlife puts in the info and sends you a certificate plus a hat. Then DNR sends you the money.
100% legal to release in Maryland. Plus it's a drainage pond, I wouldn't eat them out of here anyway. Snakehead are well established in Maryland and coexist perfectly fine with other species. Even baby snakehead provide the perfect food source for so many other species. Dnr still considers them invasive because of how much they spread but most Maryland fish species are introduced anyway. I'll keep big ones every now and then because they are yummy but most fisherman like myself want them to stay.
Awesome vid man! Just curious with paddle tail, it’s the one presentation I’ve thrown the least for snakehead here in Delaware. Do you recommend a slow steady retrieve? 75% of all my snakes have come on a fluke .
Thanks for watching! Pretty much a slow steady retrieve just enough to get the tail moving. Sometimes they'll want it fast but usually slow. If you are using the zman ones, pausing and giving some twitches can be deadly. Also let it sit for 3 to 5 seconds before you start retrieving.
Thanks! I don't give away spots though unless it's very obvious. Especially can't give away this one because I promised not to. I will say this was not the flats but at the end of any creek that enters a freshwater bay tributary will have pre spawn snakehead eating heavily very soon around timber. Mid April into may is when it should get really good
Find the deepest parts of the lake. Usually near the dam, fishing off points, or in some cases like ponds right in the middle. That's usually where you'll find them. Similar stuff lures wise like trout magnets, spinners, micro swimbaits etc. For using stuff like powerbait or marshmallows on a big lake you might want to go heavier than a split shot rig cuz you shouldn't use over two split shots. If that's the case try a Carolina rig instead for that extra distance without them feeling the weight. Hope this helps!
Went trout fishing today here in Oklahoma. Stocked fish, some are 1 to 2 pounds others bigger! They bit very slow. I decided to try Trout Magnets with a bobber. I caught 5 most around or over two pounds. Lesson, when the bite is slow use smaller bait, and change colors! Works.
Here in Maryland our trout average smaller. Half a pound or less even though my biggest is 5 pounds 14 ounces. But same thing lure wise applies here. Small finesse lures and figuring out the color they want really works. Thanks for sharing!
When I was a youngster, I climbed up seemingly solid rock mountain with a small clear stream with fairly deep pools periodically. It flowed into Lake Almanor. I had to sneak up to one of the deeper pools, to avoid spooking the trout. I was rewarded with a fairly short, really fat Golden Trout...the sort of trout that grows in that type of stream. He/or she was beautiful, and I thought of keeping it. In the end, because of their rarity, I set it free, and it quickly dove for cover under a rock.
That sounds so peaceful! All though I think you are referring to the actual golden trout but the one in this video is a golden rainbow trout (aka palomino)
@@trouttopiafishing Yes, the small stream flowing out of that lake and at least that one I described have wild Golden Trout, although they may be planted by now. The little ones I caught in the stream below the lake just one step above fingerling but just beautiful...reminded me of Brook Trout and all their colors.
@@jameswest4819 Would like to catch a wild golden one day. We have brook trout here in Maryland but they are vulnerable to urbanization. Thanks for sharing!
Depends what you want to fish for. But since you live right next to the Potomac river that gives you a lot of options close by. Including the shad run which is happening very soon and is pretty easy and a lot of fun. All you'll need is an ultra light to medium action rod/reel setup with 2 to 8 pound mono line. If you are a beginner 6 pound is what I'd recommend. It usually starts in April. They'll hit small spoons, crappie jigs and shad darts tandem rigged. Just let it sink and slow retrieve back. Grab a dc fishing license and fish the fletchers cove area. Just remember they are catch n release only. Also wherever it's deeper also gives you access to big blue catfish. Simple bottom rig with cut bait or even worms will work out just fine. Blue catfish are good eating especially the smaller ones. Good luck and tight lines hope this helps.
@@trouttopiafishingthank you! Do you have any specific places on the Potomac or just hike around it? Like are their any specific river access areas or trails to the river?
@@RafeTartal For the shad i recommend fletchers cove for sure. You can fish off the rocks and along the trails. Doesn't matter too much cuz during the peak run they are all up and down the river. For catfish i recommend the georgetown waterfront park and the tidal basin. The tidal basin is also really good for bass, snakehead and more during the late spring and summer.
congrats man that's so damn awesome, my dad and I have had some great days out there this winter, biggest I got was 35" but hopefully I can get break my pb (44") this week
48 inch Stripped Bass! That’s insane my PB is 22 Inches. You went ahead and more than doubled it. It’s not everyday you beat your PB by 13 inches. That might be the biggest Stripper I’ve ever seen
My pb before this video was 25 inches. So i beat it like 3 times. I still can't believe that big one man i'm still in a high from it. It's been a decade since we've had this many trophy stripers in the bay. Just had to find someone with a boat and get on em. I recommend you do the same. Might go on my friends jonboat and try it out that way soon!
Congrats on the PB blues for you and your pops! I fished there last year and ppl told me there was a deep hole under the railroad bridge to your right. Port Deposit/Marina Park also a good spot a little further up the Susquehanna, can fish 24/7 and great for tailgating/grilling too.
