Winter Creek Fishing Maryland (SURPRISE CATCH!) 

Depends what you want to fish for. But since you live right next to the Potomac river that gives you a lot of options close by. Including the shad run which is happening very soon and is pretty easy and a lot of fun. All you'll need is an ultra light to medium action rod/reel setup with 2 to 8 pound mono line. If you are a beginner 6 pound is what I'd recommend. It usually starts in April. They'll hit small spoons, crappie jigs and shad darts tandem rigged. Just let it sink and slow retrieve back. Grab a dc fishing license and fish the fletchers cove area. Just remember they are catch n release only. Also wherever it's deeper also gives you access to big blue catfish. Simple bottom rig with cut bait or even worms will work out just fine. Blue catfish are good eating especially the smaller ones. Good luck and tight lines hope this helps.

@@RafeTartal For the shad i recommend fletchers cove for sure. You can fish off the rocks and along the trails. Doesn't matter too much cuz during the peak run they are all up and down the river. For catfish i recommend the georgetown waterfront park and the tidal basin. The tidal basin is also really good for bass, snakehead and more during the late spring and summer.
