I love this project. Airplanes used to carry oxygen tanks for the passengers in case of a decompression event. Nowadays just the pilots get bottled oxygen. Each drop down mask in the cabin has a chemical oxygen generator. People tell me that it has a stinging aftertaste. Since flying planes produce constant air pressure, one wonders if such air could be filtered to add clean oxygen to the cabin.
ООО МЭЛЗ is a production facility of vacuum tubes currently in operation in Moscow, Russia. Maybe that can come useful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kn9knnS60M0.htmlsi=fZP0tVz8TnlMoAmC
ООО МЭЛЗ is a production facility of electro vacuum tubes currently in operation in Moscow, Russia. They have a youtube channel with videos and their website is there as well. Maybe that can come useful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kn9knnS60M0.htmlsi=fZP0tVz8TnlMoAmC
Well done. I cannot imagine anyone else or any other company that could have succeeded. Using period display technology for the memorial art installation was very appropriate. The end result was beautiful. Thank you for documenting the journey.
Thank you for the Open Source Finances. You are setting a fine example for the future of commerce. I am also very impressed by your stance on not overspending on marketing, this industry only profits the platforms. What you could try is find out if one of your followers can help with duplicating your video content on other platforms. It provides cancellation resistance and can gain unexpected viral marketing for no further development of video material. Thank you also for taking the time to share these thoughts and realities of a small business. Perhaps you can have links to others who manufacturer clocks using your tubes on your website so that people can easily shop for the clock they like the best. Asking interior decorators who have a magazine column to review your clocks (or the clocks of your tube customers) could get the snob crowd to demand product. Having occasional product shortages is not a big problem and can be a reasonable excuse/justification to increase prices a little faster than the general inflation rate.
You probably have found out by now. But the two throttle valves at the top of the schematic that you left out are actually somewhat important for efficient operation. They increase the pressure swing of the absorber columns and improve the mass of Nitrogen the columns can absorb in one step and can give off in the next. And I think the volume of the hoses at the feed side of the columns is unnecessarily big. That volume needs to be purged every cycle and consumes a lot of air. Having individual 5/2 valves directly at the columns would be more efficient.
Will you also be selling colon tubes separately? (For use with other nixies, or on their own in a binairy clock, or just for collectors of beautiful electronic glassware)
You have nothing but my highest respect and appreciation for dedicating so much time and effort in the matter of keeping Nixies alive, I am sure you these set backs will look nothing but a scratch in the retrospective in a few years. You came so far, those hickups won't get you down
Thanks for your honesty and openness - not beating around the bush! Watching your videos and seeing your fabrication makes me wanna pack up my lab here, move down to Czech Republic and work for you.
I'm glad to hear that the "R" tube will be available again and that the company is focusing on building nixie tubes. Thanks for not letting the nixies die, I really appreciate your work.
hey dalibor, thank you so much for the openness with which you give insight into your business. the passion you show is truly astonishing. i love following your journey since a long while, and now, as i am thinking of turning a hobby into a business myself, it is just inspiring to see your dedication, as well as a great resource to learn. so from the bottom of my heart: thank you!
Dalibor, can you make the RCA paper available, perhaps in PDF format? Maybe it will revive some "old" memories and those people might contact you to share their "old" information with you?
