Hi, I'm Ryan. I make videos for people who are curious about the world and want to improve themselves. I do that by documenting my life and travels. My goal for this channel is to show people the world and give them useful information and encouragement so they can go out and see it for themselves. We're going places. what are some practical steps and strategies you recommend for transitioning to a digital nomad lifestyle while maintaining a traditional full-time job? Thanks!
As a fifty year resident of nyc, I would say this is an excellent essay on what being a new transplant to nyc is like. Don't quote me, but it takes roughly ten adult years of living here before we give out the 'new yorker' title. There's a reason for that. Eighteen months is the beginning, some romantics call it the birthing, and it's absolutely the most difficult time, where the real value of living here usually gets pushed aside with every subway shoulder jostle with a stranger, every stange smell on an elevator, every taxi dodge on the street, takes your full attention. And why not? It's all new, hyper-intense, and usually _really_ weird. A few years in, that all fades into the background and the _real_ nyc appears, the one fueling that 'magic feeling'. Or it doesn't. And that's when they leave. I'm writing all this bc nyc has a reputation that 99% of the country learned by watching tv and movies written by efficient storytellers, sold by efficient salesmen where at best you only see two square miles of midtown Manhattan or a quarter square mile of Brooklyn. The video aims to make money. It says a few nice things about the city, but the overarching message is, "Everything you've heard is true." That message is coming from a youtuber with (honest intentions aside) money on his mind, with merch in his store, and surfing on the easy stereotype. That is a _very_ pertinent fact to keep close at hand when deciding on a life-changing, huge move here. My city was founded 100% on money, and I can respect any hustle, but we also call out the truth - pointedly, immediately - and that part of our rep is 100% true. Did I make my point? I hope so, and I hope it didn't come off as rude or rushed. Now, the group of guys from Staten Island, right behind me? They have a few more words for you... Best of luck to you and your channel. ❤❤❤

There is also the business manager visa which is sort in between the start up visa and the HSP business/investor visa. I plan on using the business manager to HSP business Manger pipeline to Permanent Residency to live in Japan long term. The digital nomad visa I thought was disappointing as it doesn't allow you to get long term rentals, bank accounts or a health insurance card for the national health insurance so it is a hard pass for me.
Ryan: It was wonderful to be in Monterrey with you and Sophia to participate in this incredible milestone. Thank you for running your Marathon on my 70th Birthday and testing your limits. Proof that anyone can achieve what they set their mind to, not winning the race per se but fighting the duendes and prevailing! Te quiero!

Wow! It looks like an opportunity to immerse in the culture vs. vacation short-term in Japan. How walkable are the neighborhoods? I read that the metro system is very efficient, but what about rural areas? Thanks for the valuable lowdown!
Hey! Well here are. My two cents. Tbh, It has become a real plague. With all due respect, not only are the rent prices sky rocketing, foreigners who settle here pay NO taxes. So myself and many tax payers are paying for what you are freely enjoying :/ The salary that you guys make is in no way equivalent to what we make here. It is an unfair competition. And, we are going through a massive water shortage that is no way near solving itself. We know when push comes to shove, water might get distributed amongst foreigners, instead of us (sounds crazy right? But this is something we are fearful of). I never thought I’d had to move out because someone from another country would come and kick me out of my house. The Condesa was a fairly expensive area, but only to a certain degree. There were some areas pretty affordable and now they are out of any mexican’s reach I understand that my comment can be taken as a double standard, but think again, the immigrant situation of an american is no where near the same as a mexican (most of my ppl who are forced to go to the US are extremely poor). For starters, americans call themselves expats, digital nomads, never immigrants. If I move there, I need to validate the whys and hows. You guys basically get a free pass, get on a plain and enter the country and that’s it. Coming FROM a privileged country to a country that’s not considered a 1st world country is a privilege in itself and sadly, I’ve encountered many americans being disrespectful towards us. They see us as a curiosity and in the end, as annoying locals. I understand that you guys are also looking for a better life and I respect and empathize with it, but many things have to change and our relationship has to be reshaped in order for all of this to work (starting with out own government, of course). Otherwise this is not going to be good for us in the long run. Cheers!
You can stay in Osaka for about $800-$1300 usd a month. Which is pretty affordable. Coming from USA, Japan in general is also more affordable, so i think it could be worth it to travel there for 6 months at a time. I would even consider buying an akiya as a vacation home. I wonder how many times you can apply for the digital nomad visa?
That’s a good question, there’s not a ton of information out there right now but it appears that there is no limit as long as you wait six months to reapply
May 1 2021, I became possessed with the Angel of Spanish. At 57, I was taking on Spanish to help increase my neuroplasticity and capacity of memory and, as a self-taught advanced network engineer (that was title, substituting certified for self-taught). I started studying at noon and ended the first day at 9pm. Spanish won, and I simply retired from working to accommodate it. Became fluent after 13,000 hours, 20,000 words. NONE of that matters. It’s all just backstory. Like an IDIOT, I jump out on the Internet, looking for Spanish-infected people like me. OMG, what I find in droves are liars, cheats, children, insincere, snake oil selling frauds without a real clue about Spanish. This guy's story is at least realistic, interesting and he’s humble. For that, I’m truly grateful. Feeling super down today because, it’s not Spanish...it’s people. I knew the empire had fallen but DAMN! Another channel of a wannabe rapper teaching Spanish. How I learned Spanish in 2 weeks watching porn, ¿¡eh papi chulo, hay qué gusto!?. People...¿WTF?
@DarViajar When you get too close to a mic, 'b's and 'p's can cause a little pop, or 'splosion' (short for 'explosion'), which is why wind screens were invented. In a roundabout way, he's saying back off your mic and turn up your gain instead.
CONDESA AND ROMA IS NOT EXPATS AREA, IT IS HOME FOR YOUNG MEXICAN DESIGNERS AND CREATIVES, BUT USA AND CANADA INMIGRANTS CAME TO INVADE OUR PLACE AND RUIN IT.
Lol at you trying to find anything good from Americans going to Mexico, no you are doing nothing good, you are not helping locals in any way, you are just making rich mexicans richer and taking over land, you are a colonialist.
