This tool is Amazing!! Question on like large belt end cutters, how can I sharpen them?
@jeremyfagergren
@jeremyfagergren Месяц назад
for things like that, I've first used some small files that I got from Harbor freight. They're fairly fine grit to get any serious imperfections, and then if you have some like, 1000 to 3000 grit wet sand paper to carefully go over the edge, almost like you're stropping it. That's what i've done. Good luck!

What's the farthest you've gone on the ego 7.5ah battery? I currently have an ebike built with 7.5ah battery but am too scared to go test lol
@jeremyfagergren
@jeremyfagergren Месяц назад
ya know, I never did a distance test, like keep riding until it dies? Cause I didn't want to walk back home 20+ miles or whatever. The 5ah battery, I used it and rode around the neighborhood several times and easily put 15 miles on it, and the battery indicators on the ego battery still showed 2 of the 5 bars light up. Plus, I wasn't going full speed/full throttle that whole time, which I think would affect distance. I hope that helps some. :)

Can you flame paint it before corrosion? And How did you etch it? A grinding wheel on dremel? I work with leather as well so its cool to find like minded artists! Very cool!
@jeremyfagergren
@jeremyfagergren Месяц назад
Torch it before doing the corrosion? Sure. And on this small of a piece, yeah, I used a dremel attachment. Larger pieces, I use larger wheels.

I just picked up patina work for an architectural company and I can’t find information on this type of work anywhere. Do you have any recommendations? Also have you ever been concerned about working with the chemicals and spraying processes involved in patina work?
@jeremyfagergren
@jeremyfagergren Месяц назад
As for recommendations, if I were to be doing this on a larger scale and larger pieces, I'd say get larger tubs, better equipment, and a space with LOTS of ventilation. Maybe even some type of air extractor. I haven't pursued it even further since I'm just doing some smaller pieces for artwork.

That turned out really sharp. I like the look of the handle strap but for me i like to grab the handle and with one motion place on shoulder. I dont like having to use two hands. Especially if i have groceries or whatever in one hand. I am attempting this bag with my domestic

are those double cap antique brass rivets or rivet and burr? i can't tell - i'd guess double cap though. can you confirm?
@jeremyfagergren
@jeremyfagergren 3 месяца назад
yeah, they're double cap rivets. I almost exclusively use double cap, as I think it give a more finished look.

Great results! I have a piece of copper in right now. Any tips for the Flame designs? Some of mine work, others not.
@jeremyfagergren
@jeremyfagergren 4 месяца назад
for the flame colors, I use a small torch. Like you'd use to make creme brulee. and then slowing make repeating passes over the same area until I get the colors/effect I want.

I wasn't aware that you have an Etsy shop. I follow it now. Good on you for selling BOTH patterns AND finished products, and the banner across the top is really nice. Do you have an Amazon link for the little placement pin things ???
@jeremyfagergren
@jeremyfagergren 7 месяцев назад
Here's the ones I got. Note that some pins are longer than others, longer pins for use with thicker leather. I made the mistake once of buying pins that were really short, for use with very thin leather. www.amazon.com/Padyrytu-Position-Positioning-Stitching-Leathercraft/dp/B098QXP9HN/ref=ci_mcx_psdc_12897141_t1_B0CJBFC6M7

what is the definition of "tote" bag? And why not two semicircular parts and a tab for the middle that narrows towards the ends?
@jeremyfagergren

I think of a Tote bottom like most are; box shaped and folded inward. Your definition might be a tad long for me. :)

Great pattern. I am considering adding it to the luggage set I am planning to make. However, your poor presentation of it overshadows your excellent creativity. The video comes out as a series of loosely affiliated shorts as opposed to a tutorial that was thought out, scripted and edited. Sorry, but it was as enjoyable to watch as a tax audit.

Were you able to get those colors on the top half just by torching it or did the ammonia fumes it had been sitting in contribute to the metallic rainbow effect. Thanks for showing us this technique!
@jeremyfagergren
@jeremyfagergren 7 месяцев назад
The colors on the top are only from torching, which i did several hours AFTER doing the bottom half. I've done that type of coloring on several pieces, so I can say that the ammonia fumes had nothing to do with the outcome.

How easy is it to snap the pockets in place when they're empty vs full ???
@jeremyfagergren
@jeremyfagergren 7 месяцев назад
I didn't fill them up too full, but it wasn't too bad. Also, and maybe it was due to the type of snaps I used, but I noticed that as I used them, snapping and unsnapping, they became easier. The other option that I thought of as I was cutting, and punching, and sewing, was to use those magnetic clasps that some purses use. You could use the same hole placement on my pattern, but use the magnets.

@jeremyfagergren

For the main flap? Really you could use any kind you'd like, but on mine, I cut out an area for a loop to poke through which then gets an antler horn tip slipped through to hold it closed.
