Ahhh! So pretty and awesome! There was a Battle Jacket Meet Up at Dragon this year and I didn’t know - despite having my Rouge One inspired one with me!
I went across your video because I had the same dilemma with your friend who wants to have a detachable sleeves battle jacket. I am going to do it this week! 😊
Wow, you are bold and brave and awesome! The asymmetrical bottom strip fabric would drive me crazy but you do you! Great job! I also have no idea what a battle vest is. A quick definition for us old, boring non-punks would been cool.
Fair enough! It's just a vest/jacket with all your favorite stuff on it. I think it originated with WWII pilot jackets, how they'd add extra patches. It's definitely specific to a metalhead/punk subculture thing from what I've seen! And I do think I'm gonna add the other fabric to the other side of my vest cause it was bothering me while I was out with it on last weekend 😂
@@krysnelson9987 aw!!! Thank you for commenting this - I was like "oh boy, what'd past me do" but then I got to see Frank! Miss that little stinker so much. What a lovely blast from the past. Thanks for sticking around all this time! 🥰🥰🥰
I woke up in such a panic when I got that smaller deposit,, but thankfully it was an easy answer. (That being said, I still haven't actually adjusted it to a later time, so thanks for the reminder 😅😂)
Decision fatigue is real I think. When I am full up on ears people can have trouble choosing. Also trends are incomprehensible! I make ears with a rainbow fleece inside and put white or black fur outer. One event folks only want black, so I make a bunch for the next market. And then can't give the black ones away, only white ones. Can't win.
Hi. It's me. The problem customer that said the bag wasn't long enough for cross body. It was my bad for not reading the description of the purse. And it was a super easy fix 👍 the bag is still going strong, btw, even with being washed three times! (and air dried because I'm paranoid) ❤❤❤
@@pboplatypus ❤️❤️❤️ I promise it wasn't you! Or even just one person I was thinking of - it's definitely something that gets mentioned at markets every so often 🖤 I absolutely love the adjustment you made to yours, and I'm thinking of changing some things on how I'm currently doing them
I found these instructions to be awful! It talks about the front short pieces. Wtf does that mean? At the rise . Wtf does that mean? I guess they are referring to the waistband. Then they say attach but don’t say to what. Then the main part of the shorts were very big but the waistband was too small. I guess that’s what happens when you age. I really wanted to learn this but very frustrating
Jo! This was a pure delight to watch. You are lovely! I got into board games this year and now I want to make a dice tray for myself like yours! Fabulous stuff 😎
That looks awesome!!❤❤❤ I'm so jalous 😊 sometimes i'll start out with a ballroom dress, end up with a rock / festival- outfit 😂 you never know .. creativity is bless 💪 i love all what you make, you are awesome!! I know many people think the same, but are too lazy too comment😅 big big big ass hug from the Netherlands ! ! !! Keep on going on these cool projects and honest + fun too watch vlogs, you rock 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶👍👍🫶
Thank you so much!! I agree, very thankful to have a creative brain! Only problem is never having enough hours in the day to do all the ideas I have 😂❤️🤘
Understandable, he's the bestest lil stinker! It's always like he knows I'm getting to the end of filming and he comes to make an appearance, he's the cutest.
To be completely transparent, I was gonna use my serger but I had to keep redoing seams and that would've made SO much more work, and then I also would've had to rethread it, which really shouldn't feel like such a road block for me, but some days it sure is! lol Now that I have a gauge for how I like this to fit, I have been on the hunt for more big stripey fabric to make another and I promise I will serge it - and you're right, would probably go a lot smoother! ALSO! Thank you for the laminator care package! What a cool surprise. and also the egg cooker will be absolutely perfect for breakfast sandwiches, I cannot wait to use it - thank you again!! <3!
Hi Jo! Are you planning on vending any events throughout New England over the next few months at all? Would love the chance to check out your merch again! Edit: I’m checking out your other social media accounts to see if any are in my area 😅 the neurodivergence sometimes overwhelms my thought process 😂
Hi! no worries at all lol I am doing all the Concord (NH) Arts Markets in the park for the summer, which are once a month, and I have something called the Wildflower Fest in Milford NH later this month. I might do some other stuff in the Boston area too, but nothing booked yet. Then Granitecon is in September, and Mill No 5 in Lowell MA is usually back to running events by then! I try to post on my IG my upcoming stuff, but I have been very burnt out as far as social media things so I probably haven't been great about it lol
Thank you for the video, you are right the instructions on the website are very short and I feel like if you haven't made a similar project before as a beginner it's difficult with that little instructions. Also mine came out soooo big, I raised the crotch seam (no idea if it's actually called that) by 2.5 inches and also had to take in the waist a lot. They are still quite big and I might do another round of corrections. At least that teaches me fast how to fix issues in sewing as a beginner 😓
Yeah I really like the pockets and fit of the waistband once I honed in on them, but the legs/crotch just seem insane, so I'm gonna try to frankenstein this with some of the other free shorts patterns they have
@@holycrappitsjo Well, I guess patterns often don't work out of the box, but I learn something new with almost every pattern. So yeah I will probably end up doing the same and either alter this pattern to fit or combine it with another pattern.
I’m glad it went well for you and your business! It’s so cool to see the market through another vendor’s eyes! Best of luck for the rest of your market season and I hope to see you at a future event (I need to visit your booth!)💕
thank you! And that's exactly how I felt watching your video from that market - so neat (and so so much rain, lol)! And likewise, good luck, and hopefully see you around! <3!
The glue is just to help keep the top from sliding down, so kinda just giving a grippy surface to the inside of the top band - using glue in place of the sewing part isn't something I'd recommend because it still needs to stretch
I've been watching a lot of artist alley vlogs and in one of them, he just said that he has been working very hard on adding chill time to his schedule. Oxymoron there. Thought you'd relate.
Oof… changing up the size of your selling space sounds really frustrating. The “Lil Mysteries” label sounds cute! ❤ Some others could be: - Pirate’s Loot - Bags of Holding - Mysterious Wares Congratulations on your sales! What a great feeling to want to share your wares. ❤❤❤❤ The heat this year has been brutal. I’m glad you’re making sure to care for you first! Especially with the previous owner. I’ve left places when the boss didn’t have my back. Good for you! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Stay cool 😎
Thank you so much for the suggestions, I extra love Pirate's loot - might have to make a new fun themed box! :D And I've never lived with an air conditioner, because most summers of my life we've had one or two uncomfortable nights of sleep but otherwise it's been manageable - but this past week we finally caved and got a small a/c for our bedroom because the heat has been absolutely unbearable. Very thankful to have it as an option now (currently hiding from the heat and sitting in front of it while I catch up on comments, lol)
I'm glad you have a local group of vendors you get to bond with! There is one here, that I don't usually make much at, but jump to do those events any time I'm available because I just enjoy the person who runs it and the other vendors so much. Mostly all neurodiverent and/or lgbtq so it's a good vibe.
@@bearlybegun4415 I'm trying a new market today that I've heard is a bit more cutthroat, but hopefully that just means the bar is high for the art itself and not the behavior of other folks involved 🥲
I just started doing craft fairs/local markets too and found your channel while trying to find ideas for display + setup. This video was SO helpful and inspired to me, and now I have to check out Swoon patterns too (they should totally pay you for referrals ;) Anyway, I just wandered back to this video after a binge of your other craft marketing prep videos and it is so comforting to do my sewing and packing prep while you talk about doing your own. Just wanted to say thank you for making excellent videos and give you some nice metrics <3
Aw thank you so much, this was the sweetest comment! 🥰 So glad I could be of some help, and sending you all the luck on your markets! You've got this!🤘🖤
Thank you! At first I was like "are these too jazzy?" but then I thought about a.) the rest of my inventory and b.) what made me most excited, and continued on my path 😂
So I haven't actually been wearing it, 'cause I just stopped caring if people saw me without my glasses, lol but the few times I did wear it in the pool, it seemed fine! They do make swimsuit specific fabrics, so if it's a concern, I bet you could make a version out of something like that!
lolololol I watched the video on that freakin zipper jig from the company itself, and it did no damn justice to the device. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D6rejJPhAfw.html This one is great with close ups. And I 10/10 recommend that sucker. I've used the crap out of mine and it's stood the test of time. The metal ones are cool, but the tips are kind of pointy, and since being impaled isn't on my bucket list...lol....Unless Lauren ever reopens orders for the one she redesigned. I would order that one. No pointy bits.
I only just figured it out (maybe? Hopefully?) this week. I made a whole storefront that's linked way down in the description, but figured I'd try to add specific item links when appropriate. Thanks for suggesting it in the first place! 🥰
I almost took that whole part out cause I wasn't sure if I was overreacting, but I also like hearing how people work through that kinda stuff - so hearing this makes me glad I shared! ❤️
Where you been scoring all that cool vinyl from? That cat bag will go. I always dread cutting the interfacing for some reason, probably because it's not fun to look at while you cut it LOL. Your feelings-totally justified and not over the top at all. Let me know what you think of the Decovil, I've still never used it. Taking too much is always good. Dots per inch :)
Agreed, for some reason the interfacing is always the least exciting to cut, but also has the most effective impact on the project 😂 The decovil is neat, though I've barely used it. Adds the structure without the same kind of bulk as foam/fusible fleece And other than the hoard sharing from friends, I did add the vinyl strips I bought to my Amazon storefront? I just made it so I honestly don't know if I did it right 😅 though! I did check for any vinyl at Swanson's fabric online - if you haven't heard of it, it's a fabric thrift store and it's amazing!
@@holycrappitsjo True, without it we end up with an invertebrate bag lol. Good to know on the decovil, reducing bulk is always a plus. Thanks for the vinyl info, I'll check those out.
To be fair, there's a reason I stray away from light colored clothes in general (but shirts especially), and like to have busy, darker prints like plaid for my outer layer 😂 One time I was eating a mint & dark chocolate KitKat in the car on a drive home - I was being *so careful* - but I still somehow COVERED that big teal circle skirt in almost black chocolate 😅 it was a miracle it survived, I thought for sure I ruined it
I love your style 😆 "we're gonna have to rip the whole fuckin thing out" 🤣 unfortunately I don't think this technique will work for the skirt I have b/c it's not stretchy material, but your approach is so refreshing!! You go girl!! 😃👍
Hey Jo! The outdoor setup looks rad! I know you know i have followed you for a long time but wanted to say you have grown so much over the years, both personally and professionally and am so glad you have taken us along with you. I too, along with that little old lady, am so proud of you!
