I love the "idea" of coat tails on my shirt, but not jersey or flannel, and those are just kind of shaped wrong. Strait hem is definitely better. Also, lucky me I happened along this video 6 min after posting.
If the wearer has a large bust, it might be useful for them to use chalk or pins to mark a level hem when wearing the shirt. This method could be used to turn a shirt into hip length, all the way around on a large busted person - if you start with an overly long shirt. It won't be fitted - but if one wants a really simple way to ensure the shirts you wear don't ride up, but aren't super long and in the way or bunched up at the bottom - this would be a way to deal with that on a t-shirt you have to wear for work, or gym class - provided you own it.
