I am a new player, started playing about three months ago, and I understand the more complicated stuff because I put more effort into learning stuff like pendulums, so when I started to play a different deck I made basic mistakes like the one turn set rule for traps or that a tribute summon is a normal summon
"You play for fun? I play for nonexistent prizes and to win" Playing for fun means that the act of playing gives you joy, and that joy isn't depending on the outcome When a basketball player says he plays for fun, he enjoys the game, shooting balls, obviously a pro athlete plays for money... what a bad comparison
@@LittleMushroomGuy No person who has to announce that they are playing for fun is actually playing for fun. If an important basketball player plays bad in a big important game, then responds with "Hey man I play for fun" That's cap
@@siopaoguy1. No pro athlete says that, and 2. playing Master Duel or at your local game store is not equivalent to playing in the NBA. Its like you go to the school playground and scoff at the guys playing "pff but if they say that in the NBA it would be a cope" You make no sense, unless you really think being a pro NBA player, who has a multimillion contract and whose job it is to play basketball, is equivalent to playing Yugioh 😂
@@siopaoguy Enjoyment does not only come from the outcome but also from the process. Having fun painting doesn't come from finishing the painting but from the process of painting, same goes for any activity or hobby. You think a runner only enjoys crossing the finish line? Praxis vs Poiesis, common even the old greeks were talking about that
@@LittleMushroomGuy Oh I totally agree with everything you say. But there is no need for someone to announce that they are doing something for fun because it's already implied, unless they are hard coping.
konami realized anything besides the card game is gonna fail. dungeon dice monsters never took off. they canceled cross duel in less than a year. they know almost no player watches the anime. there are almost no events for alternate formats. there are very little interest for retro formats besides goat or edison. speed duel is for anime fans and duel links survive becus of the big spenders. they didnt even wanna risk make a new rush duel video game after the first one failed and they just put a rush mode on duel links. they are sometimes trying to make new things but they get little interest. i would say konami's only big failure designing a game was duel arena... a yugioh game you cant build your own deck but only loan terrible decks
Zhang Ziyu is incredible the girls are in highschool so props to her, but in most cases players her height and taller rarely make it to the NBA because most dont have talent.
I miss the old days when you could have creativity as a part of your deckbuilding. It's not intuitive, fun, or worth it to build a theme for your deck if 1/3 to 1/2 of your deck is staples that EVERYONE has. Call me a Yugiboomer or a casual player, but this is not the same game that we older fans played during school. It's WORSE.
Toons and Harpies were the First Archetypes. And They Were Awful since There was No real Payoff to Either! As Toons were SUPER NERFed. But that was fine. But for OLD DM Era Yugioh! We Were Forced to Forced to Endure OVERPOWERED SINGLE Cards! And MOST decks were Beatdown Level Four Decks! Not helped by the Fact that Equips Were Useless back in the Day, Unless they Hindered your Opponent!
Tbh when I first rejoined the game I didn’t even know about Sevens and Vrains. In my mind, DM was still old school, whereas now I realize DM is like YuGiOh prehistory
Nobody had decks like that. Even on the playground, we followed the limited/semi-limited lists which forbade having more than 1 copy of cards like Monster reborn; dark hole, etc.
I left at 2010 when synchro just started. That’s when I was just out of high school and couldn’t afford the new cards and power creep was too strong. So I left. Came back now…just to play free on master duel
The Point that FTK Scientist not even known by players then is the Best way to play Yugioh, imagine Snake-eyes wasn't known and we just play new Ancient Gear VS Yubel!! 😅 Maybe we dont play competitive and actually enjoy the game casually with our friends 😂 Just ignore Meta and enjoy our aesthetic new Anime Decks
"Modern Yu-Gi-Oh is bad because there are so many unfair cards like Tearlement and Snake Eyes." "Old Yu-Gi-Oh is bad because there are so many unfair cards like Chaos Emperor Dragon and Yatagarasu." Like, if you say any of that, then is there any fun playing this card game??
Everyone forgets the numerous FTKs that existed in DM /GX Era till they get destroyed by Magical Scientist ,Exodia FTK or Chain Burn OTK and get big mad over it and ragequit.😊
old school yugi for me is the ps2 yugi-oh and they were fun (very cool games) . I remember having irl cards but no one actually understood how the game was played we used to just create our own rules and summon the cards with the highest number of stars and then get bored after a minute or 2 .
I know that another comment mentioned this but you if you were not there at the time you can't comprehend what old yugioh was really like. People were not running the most broken cards and I assure you nobody went to the internet to make decks. People played with what they had and we had fun playing the cards we liked.
Thank you fellow old person. I grew up in the 90s-2000s playing MTG, Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh and even DBZ card games and my decks and everyone around me (fellow kids) decks were all made up of the few cards we could afford and strategies we came up with ourselves. It was crazy fun and you could never predict who was going to win or what the other people were playing. This might be an "Ok, boomer" line but I think the internet ruined card games. Now anyone can look at the best of the best decks online and just order the cards they need. Thousands upon thousands of cards to choose from, infinite deck possibilities and everyone plays the same 10. It's glorified rock paper scissors at this point.
Yeah, that makes since. However, it's still unfair to call current meta bad when meta is just rarely fun. Midrange is the reason most ppl play any format
@@NotABot101 The only gripe about the current meta is that people are playing 10+ handtraps and that kills almost all decks only the newer stronger ones survive and mirror matches are not my thing.
@@makokx7063 I was also there for it and I would never go back. The duels feel much more interactive, with hand traps and board breakers interrupting each other's plays. It's nice to have at least that before going back to set one pass.
@@buddasogudda Interactive?!?! LOL Turn 1, Imma play 20 cards right now, ok you're turn. Ok, I'm gonna - Negate Then I'll - Negate How about? - Negate Ok, back to you, I guess. 20 more cards, swing for game. Flipping a coin is more fun than modern yugioh
Its can also be good as a 1 of in decks that don't need a normal summon. You can summon Iblee, link it away for Almiraj, then Almiraj can be used to protect your boss monster/combo peace.
Modernism People applying their current beliefs retroactively to a older time period Eg modern yugioh players talking about classic in a meta context cause that's how they play ignoring most kids who played it never played that way nor do the adults who like it currently. The whole appeal is that it's not meta/modern yugioh.
I dont think compairing mechanical chaser as power creep is remotely the same as how it works in modern yugioh as it's still beatable unlike snake eyes La jinn with axe of despair >> mechanical chaser Besides it was not intentional because the stat value was used in the manga before they were in the tcg
Its pretty much the start of the special summon spam era of the game were still in Its as you can get without going back to gx era yugioh which functionally aint even the same game.
There was no archetypes really bsck then so can't blame them for it. The only thing is monster types deck like dragons, warriors, spellcasters and broken generic cards
@@DragonBallsolosyourverse Yeah But they Sucked during the Early Metal Raider Days! Now Harpies Had a Super Powerful Spell in “Elegant Egoist”, it there Wasn’t Enough Targets for that Card to Hit! And often Times it was just dead if you Couldn’t get either Harpie Lady or the Sisters into your hand or on the field!
People SHOULD concede and start a new game. But it is also considered disrespectful in some circles to surrender before your opponent completes their big play.
GOAT era Yu-Gi-Oh to me was a bad game, but it's still incredibly fun and I get the appeal of it. It's not meant for me since Heart of the Cards moments happen WAY TOO OFTEN.
Its a just a prefernce Current yugioh is a meta only game, very fast paced and what not Old yugioh Slow and kinda janky It actually being a bad game like a objective lv is just arguing magical scientist and yata broken therefore game sucks As if there has not been 5 tier zero formats in the past few years Snake eye, tear and kash Which mind you most people played Where literally nobody even knows magical scientist outside of modern players trying to own yugi boomers I say this cause nobody who actually likes classic yugioh ever brings this up
FINALLY SOMEONE MAKES A VIDEO ABOUT THIS!!!!! GODDAMMIT SERIOUSLY NO ONE UNDERSTANDS THIS! I was someone that really really wanted to get into yugioh, I spent so much time learning the summon mechanics and I thought "okay this is a lot but its not too bad" when I went to try out an actual deck I had no idea what the fuck the card was even saying, I had no idea how to fuck this game was played. its not just the rules its literally this on every card: when this card is played and IF ONLY this Card is played in a main phase, you may draw 2 cards that ARENT ________ and but them on the battlefield if and ONLY if you player has ______ on the battle field, and IF and ONLY if this effect RESOLVES you can but a card into your graveyard, you also may someone (and only once per turn can place a XYZ monster from you extra deck onto the battlefield" on and on and on and on again, wtf is that. but then also whats shit is the community is very very shitty online and dont help at all, and then awkward in real life. I went to a locals just to ask about what I should play or what deck I should play, they turned red and got really nervous because my girlfriend was with me, and they chuckled and choked for 2 minutes and said "HEhaHEhaa just play mYsTiC mInE..... BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!" good one weirdo...
In the first minute you're showing guys who make mostly content focused around a competitive angle of the game for people already in it. They're obviously going to talk about issues they have from playing the game thru a competitive lens. Especially when they're audience is people who already know the game
Junk Speeder been my main since TCG and Master Duel release. Speeder will never be Meta because it easily loses to handtraps, and the Main Deck Monsters aren't powerful enough by itself like current decks. Be thankful, Speeder has Synchro Locked from Extra.
Power crept is why The cards it targets are some early 5ds era cards It's why nobody uses it Most decks since the synchro era vomit out cards just have more effective ways of doing ontop of having other effects
