Tracy's a mortician, Trish is not. Together we are here to answer your questions about what happens to our bodies when we die. The topic of death should not be a taboo - it happens to all of us - and through these videos we hope to give you a better understanding of what goes on in the mortuary, and why. Hi Tracy and tris my husband went to hospital he was left in the ambulance bay On the ambulance trolley well he was going to have a CT scan and he died for over an hour they revived him so I was scared and he was in a comma for 2 weeks
My grandma's funeral was today, we buried her ashes in a plot... but I had to know what the cremation process was. This made me cry to picture her every step of the way.
The mortuary and funeral industry was so absolutely tough to get into for women back in the day especially here in Australia but when we were able to the care and understanding towards deceased children and women that we bought to so many wives, sisters, siblings and babies from the hard edged formal and strict observances that were adhered to in the old days! We lent that heartfelt tenderness that was missing for the living relatives and the body of the deceased during the entombment processes especially for the open caskets for viewing which is nigh impossible sometimes considering some ways of death that the deceased might've had( arnt women the better makeup artists by default) U R ABSOLUTELY ANGEL/ NURSES/ CARER'S THAT WE ALL SIMPLY DO NOT GIVE HARDLY ENOUGH CREDIT AND PRAISE FOR SUCH A DIFFICULT, EMOTIONALLY CHALLENGING AND BRILLANT CALLING OF A CAREER!!!
I studied beauty therapy for 12 months and got my diploma which is Quillivant to 1st year of nursing as we had to study anatomy skin, bones, muscles, veins and artery’s woud that be accepted in funeral homes❤
Tracy, do you know of any of your viewers that decided to apply to work for you or just applied? It would be interesting to know. I would think your channel would be inviting to those with an interest.
Oh thank God you're not here in the US because you have to go to years of college and going to doing a lot of different things working and going to school learn about different science and reconstructive and all type of stuff
@@Areyoudyingtoknow well I know you can be a mortician and a embalmer an embalmer can be a mortician but a mortician can't be an embalmer because of the schooling that's a whole nother license
I can imagine there was an additional cost for Kates family or wasn't qualified.. when her sister died was it still cold out.. as I'd be thinking about the time vs the heat.. and also how high the heating was, thinking on how they're not sure of COD.. possible questions to push back to the Police.. Kate, can you think of a time where you were together laughing and having fun... because that's a really good way to remember your dear sister.. its not fair that you didn't have the chance to hold her hand.. but thinking good memories is a good way to think of her. So sorry for your loss xx
Hello Tracey never ever thought of doing this sort of thing when I was younger but how life changes. If I could go back in time and restart I think I would have a go. Too old now haha fascinating videos and I think that I would do well at this career. Thank you huge hugs to you and your family. Xxx 🌹🌹🌹
Thanks for the info. I wonder about licensing here in us, because you can find some RU-vid videos about abandoned ones, & news stories about awful ones which has led to the bereaved suing the mortuaries!😮 I hope you all get a good licensing procedure done and good checking of those to make sure everything is still up to snuff in years after! God Bless. 💖💖
You ladies are awesome! I never miss an episode. I’m a retired traffic accident Reconstructionist from a city close to St. Louis, MO I am retired now, my wife named Tracey passed from cancer in 2020 at age 52 and I lost my daughter on 07-01-24. She was 35. What you do is so valued and helps people understand more about your job and how the process works! Keep up the awesome videos and I have to truly say that “Trish” is absolutely gorgeous. You are both beautiful ladies! Sincerely Mitch O’Fallon, IL
Hi Mitch, thank you so much for your kind words 🤗 We are truly sorry to hear of the death of you young wife and very young daughter 😔 we both send you our deepest condolences ❤️ Take good care ❤️❤️
I’m glad you’ll be back with Trish next time! Maybe then the “I’m Trish and I’m not” will stop sounding off in my head 😹 Another great, informative video 👍
The State of Colorado does not require prior education or experience to enter the funeral service profession. An individual may acquire on-the-job training in funeral directing, embalming and/or cremation under the supervision of an experienced funeral professional at a licensed funeral establishment or crematory. This is not the norm in the USA
My husband passed away in 2022 in his hometown in South Africa. I was alone to do all the arrangements together with his friends wife. The director was very nice a lot of paperwork to be done at Home Affairs in his Hometown. Before the papers can go to Pretoria. The funeral director was very helpful
Hi, yes I do unfortunately, it's very much like nursing and under pressure constantly. I do try and factor in time away as often as I can these days, I never used too. Thank you for your question take care ❤️❤️
Thanks so much ladies ❤ . I’m finding out a lot of information from you 2 .my eldest granddaughters are in control of my funeral .. ( everyone to wear bright colours) 😊 it’s going to be be till death us do PARTY 😊❤
Speaking of hair...When my grandmother passed, she had had a perm but was not well enough to style it. While discussing Grandma's clothing and jewelry I said I wanted her hair styled for the open casket service. My mother said that "Sherry" would be doing the styling, to which I blurted out that she couldn't even fix her own hair so she wasn't doing Grandma's. There were uncomfortable looks all around. I had been talking about my sister Sherry, which was also the funeral director's name! At least one of us was relieved...😅
Hey tracy, hey trish, love this video, loads of good information and advice, i find it really hard to hear but my dad always says whenever he goes he just wants a direct cremation, no service no viewing no fuss, and then he just wants his ashes put with my mum (his wife) i hate hearing him say it and find it really difficult as i feel really guilty that he wouldn't have a service, when my mum died and my brothers died he made sure they had nice services and good send offs, i know its what he wants but i just feel guilty 🤧😔😕
Oh Lucy, totally understand how you feel. Why don't you organise a small memorial service with only close family and friends with his ashes present instead of a full service with the coffin. Celebrity his life that way and you haven't gone against his wishes and you get to share your stories with others about your dad 🤗 take care lovely ❤️❤️
Thanks for the wonderful video, ladies. I appreciate all the information you're giving us. I would hope to think that my mom was handled with care and love. When she passed away in January I did read a horrific story that happened in America many years ago. About a funeral home called the lamb mortuary. Where the funeral director was actually taken. Body parts and stuff out of the. Deceased and selling them even gold fillings and everything was pretty horrific. It's horrible to think that stuff like that happened years ago I really hope that doesn't happen anymore.
Sure you mother was well cared for 🤗 It is awful to hear these kinds of stories let's hope nothing like this happens again, it's tragic 😔 Take care ❤️❤️
@Areyoudyingtoknow Thank you for your kind words. I'm sure she was well taken care of, too. And yes, it is tragic to hear about stuff like that. The guy did get some prison time, but I hear he's sadly out now. He got parole I don't understand he is just horrible all the lives they ruined. Burned tons of bodies together at once.no one got all of their loved ones' remains. It was just an awful story. 😢😞
Love watching you guys I have learnt a lot. my question is I don’t want a funeral and I want to be cremated how do I avoid funeral companies. I don’t want to waste money on funeral expenses. I am in Victoria Australia. Thanks Chrissy
@ChrisBee-nn7zu my dad wanted no funeral and cremated no fuss and i found Bare Funerals, they were wonderful from start to finish, kept me in the loop all the way and even bought dads ashes home. They were so good I've already prepaid my own cremation and can even organise my will with them.
I have found from working in the funeral industry in the UK, they do not go as far in the way of reconstruction and embalming as they do in other countries. I feel the likes of the USA, Australia, Canada etc take more pride and care in preparing and presenting the deceased for families. I wish the UK would follow suit and take that extra time to prep the deceased, especially with re construction and mortuary make up, but unfortunately they do not in my experience 😢
My mum just passed away 😢 and she had a pre-paid funeral and my sister still had to pay some expenses as prices have gone up , you said once you have a pre-paid funeral its fixed at that price that you have paid , for us that was obviously not the case
So very sorry to hear 😔 Did your sister add any extras or change anything as these thing will incur a cost and flowers will be extra. Take good care ❤️❤️
