Hi, I'm Ben. I'm a professional guitar player from the UK. I make videos about guitars, gear, gigs and generally being a musician.
A little history... I started playing the guitar at the age of 7, when I was given a white hand-me-down 3/4 scale nylon acoustic that my cousin had. I played it for hours and hours, until I'd bled all over the guitar's body. Once I reached about 11 i managed to persuade my parents to get me my first electric, an Encore Strat copy...I loved that guitar, even after I'd broke the neck and ruined the body. At the age of 15 I started playing in several bands with my first 'proper' electric guitar, and began writing original material. Fast forward to about 25 and I started taking music very seriously and finally managed to go pro full time 5 years ago. I now perform some 250+ shows a year, and travel the world playing guitar. I still feel like I'm a 15 year old kid, borrowing my teachers e335 and playing down the local club.
I’m waiting for a new amp to arrive and this is exactly how I’m planning on using the four cable method. Quick question - why do you use panned left and right jack outs instead of the effects send?

Dude!! Unreal video. I’ve only just got my helix and honestly I would’ve thought they would’ve made it so the send of the amps FX loop just goes to send and same for return and then you just assign your inputs and outputs as required on your second line. But, apparently not! 😂 Still pretty easy, so thanks heaps for the video man
can you try talk without all the hand gestures very annoying mate. Apollo x6 is superb unit, I am 12 albums in with Apollo units , they work well as well as the excellent plug ins.
I have the same rig, I'd suggest you go for a cioks setup, I personally use a Cioks 4. I want to also add, ditch the tuner, the HX Stomp has a tuner which I assigned to an external FS (beside the HX), then add all the pedals you want.

Hey brother great video but not sure if this using real world scenarios? I was convinced that a quad may be enough for my needs because I just use a few plugins but after seeing your video I’m concerned I could only do a few. After these many years; do you regret getting the quad and not the octo?? Have you ever run out of dsp for mixing?? I have an Apollo twin and tracking is not a concern but now I’m not sure quad is enough after watching this video. I have a home studio and mainly record for myself. I don’t think I’d be using plugins on individual tracks as I rather route to buses… thoughts?
Hey Ben. This was a great use of 4CM! Super straight forward and makes sense. Do you have any experience in using 4CM with two separate amps? I guess it's called 7CM.? I tried this with a traditional 4CM setup but for both amps using the send/returns on each amp and send/return 1/2 on the Helix if that makes sense. But it doesn't sound as good as just using an A/B/Y box straight into the front of both amps. That sounds killer. Any alternative suggestions on how to hook up two separate amps through the Helix? I'd love to control both amps with the Helix, like have all the effects go to both amps. I don't care about ping pong delay and shit like that. I just want a wall of sound using the Helix and both amps simultaneously. Does that make sense? Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Very nice! I did a short video for my ship board as well. Very similar to what you did but for my preferences. I’m thinking of tweaks and stumbled on your video looking for inspiration! One thing I noticed with my build is I prefer a wah over expression like you. Sonicake makes a mini vol/wah that I’m probably getting to replace the mini Dunlop I have. Freeing up that expression input for two extra buttons would make a world of difference. Hope the gig went well, cheers!
