I love Helle knives. I am half Norwegian. My mother brought me back a Fjellmann on her last trip to Norway and I bought a Dokka for myself. Really nice video. Now I want one. Thanks 🎸🔪🇳🇴
Allemanstratten or however its spelled means literally translated “every man’s road”. I love that. It literally means anyone can go there. By that it means go for it. The invisible small print is that you’re going to be a good man or lady and be respectful and sensible to the environment, which all watching this I’m sure would be. Such a shame about all the thick twats that ruin this for us all with their littering and disposable BBQ’s.
I looked at the adler axe balm and it said that it contains the following: - Linseed oil - beeswax - clove oil does that mean that the cloth also has to be disposed of since it has linseed oil or is it in such a diluted form thanks to the wax and clove oil to be safer to use if you're not as experienced with linseed oil and it's flammability
Great question. Yes, it does contain a very small amount of linseed oil. But it is negligible compared to using it in its pure and concentrated forms. The main ingredient in the balm is beeswax which makes up the bulk of the mix with the other being the clove oil. Something inspired by the Japanese knife market as they predominantly use clove oil for protecting the steel.
@Che8336 it is not a daft one at all. It's something I pondered, too. But at the end of the day, leather is like a sponge, and it will soak up a lot from the outside. The inside then will soak up any excess on your knife.
@Edyta20108 Good question. It would, but it would change the shape of the pouch, and rather than being square, it would be more sack shaped. The safest width would be a the snow peak cups.
@martlinnas regardless of what any a man uses. If he trusts it , I respect it. I worked for morakniv for many years and currently work at Helle. Can't fault any of the two brands classics.
Now then joe hope you and your lass are well . Great vidio brill bit of advice lol you no what never even thought about hand sanitizer. Both of you take care of your selves look forward to your next vid 👍
Just an FYI to everyone living in Sweden: unless you are the owner of the land, or have gotten permission from the owner, you are not allowed to cut down ANY trees at all, even if they're dead and you're not allowed to harvest fallen trees either.
Are you Irish or Scottish? The way you say “out” and “about” is exactly the way we say it here in the Maritimes in Canada and the rest of Canada finds it funny 😅 I know we had a lot of Irish, Scottish and English settlers here. For the life of me, I can’t pronounce those words any other way! lol
@@inforestsandlands ah ok! I heard the reference to Sweden and that threw me off. Well, the Irish flare has definitely stuck around the maritimes! 😄 Language and accents are such an interesting thing!
Great video and info. I would like to add something to consider about the second notch within the spine of the saw blade. This second notch also prevents the user from scraping their fingers and knuckles on the ground when cutting something.
Not too bad for a first attempt :) The tip about cutting the ridges was especially useful, as well as the part about using the tip of the knife for fine stuff and the base for heavy carving!
The pouch is a beautiful piece, your friend is very skilled! Your loadout is dope too. Seriousness aside, why isn’t there a PlayStation 5 in the pouch?
@@inforestsandlands Amen brother!! The only thing bushcraft related that gets me more excited than fancy jackets is knives. Your channel is high quality and your camera presence is top shelf. I’m glad I found your channel before it gets super famous :)
@thedanishpirate9743 thanks for asking. You can fit a summer down bag in. But something substantial like say, the carinthia defence 4 will fit, but it will take up all the space. If you plan on using it for an overnight bag the large is where I would go.
Nice review. Have you any idea of what are those two little tabs in the front pocket are for? Got this bag and really enjoy it, but in can't figure how to use them.
A micarta version is going to be awesome! Was thinking about picking up a Nord, now I'll almost surely get one when the micarta option becomes available.
I have it half forearm length. (Estimated guess) . It's what I saw. Monkey see monkey doo. I put my forearm through loop. Loop hangs on my forearm and I'm able to pinch grip or choke up on the tip of blade for fine work while the handle is held up by the loop on forearm. So is that to short? I can pull my hand out. I guess my answer is as long as you can quick release.
Very nice! As a hammocking man I seldom use my tarps on the ground and I was faffing about with the plow point only last weekend, not getting it to work properly. Your suggestions will be implemented next time.
