complete novice. i'm thinking of doing this at my home, i'm very lazy, so what kind of maintenance is there in the winter time? do i need to cut it in winter? do any soil prep for the next year? etc. apologies for my stupidity.

It’s very difficult to grow large wildflower gardens. It’s a constant battle against grasses, weeds, and deer. But the payoff is so beautiful.

Hi, what fertilizer did u use for the flowers, how many times per week and do you get new flowers after they died or did you buy another package of seeds? Thank you
@TheTimelapseTeam
@TheTimelapseTeam 2 месяца назад
I dont use any fertiliser for the wild flowers. They like low nutrient soil so its not generally needed. They will reseed themselves for next year so you don't need to re-seed

Ughhh, I'm trying to propagate pear tree (3rd attempt) and I'm impatient already. 27 days later, some cuttings died (thanks to rooting hormone) and only two of them are still alive. They have adventitious roots, but they still don't want to grow actual roots

my experimental system in Colorado: 70F days 50F nights , 4x8 old commercial solar panel, 60 gallon regular uninsulated tub. Mine is not a separate loop right now. If I let the pump self start with PV panel it will get the temp in the tub up to 122F by around 2pm in the afternoon. Sometimes I let it get up to 140F depending on how much later I want to get in (usually around 6pm). No heating or insulation at night it just repeats the next day. During the day If I don't run the pump it boils the water in the panel in about 5 minutes. I might hook an interval timer up , or better; use a thermostat to heat the water up to 155F or so and then pump it out and repeat until the tub is at a desired temp..... this way I can kill off any bacteria without any or much chemicals. Not having any chems in the water means less waiting for dissipation when I use the water for gardening. Cheap pumps may only be rated for 122 F or so, so factor that in on your cycling. Can submerge the pump in a separate vessel of ambient temp water to keep it cooler.
@unionse7en
@unionse7en 2 месяца назад
FYI.. sun insolation is about 1000 watts /square meter ... Thermal panels capture most of that...vs PV panels around 20%....However if you use a Carnot Heat pump..they can have a coefficient of performance of about 4-5x in summer (2-3x in winter for the latest models). 5 times 0.20 gets you back to 100% approx .. so that is not a bad way either depending on which equipment you have available to you. Both have pros and cons..... night heating with solar thermal..... once you get excess heat starting around mid day (summer) you could start heating water in an insulated vessel (old water heaters) and then exchange that water ...but how long is a soak sesh anyway? ;-)

I just took my kiddos out to plant a bunch of wild flowers and lavender around the 4 retention ponds/pathways of our Neighborhood. I’m glad I did because it will bring some much needed color to the area instead of just weeds and tall green plants.

Nice video filled with good tips & trix. I'm setting up a solar powered pool heater right now and my goal is 30°C / 86°F in the pool. I'm starting with 250 meters / 820 feet of 20 mm / ¾ inch PEM hose in a flat rooftop setup. A 20V rainwater barrel pump (2,000 liters - 528 gallons / hour) will be connected directly to a solar panel, so it's a completely automatic system controlled and powered by the sun. No sun = no pump = no heating. Since I'm located at 60° latitude in the northern hemisphere, I'll guess it'll be some problems and math to solve along the way, but it'll be fun. Keep up your good work

So beautiful! I can't wait to watch my beds of PNW native wildflowers grow this year!
@KatarinaS.
@KatarinaS. 4 месяца назад
I'm from the PNW as well. Where did you get your seeds or what brand or company sells them and when did you sow them? This person didn't seem to cover or rake theirs in at all, and it looks like it's in a greenhouse, but I feed the birds and worry they'll eat all my flower seeds. How do you prevent that? I've never planted wildflowers before but would like to this year, i bought some packets from $Tree, but our yard is tiny and the bed I'd plant them in is where we have all of our bird feeders. Should I plant them in pots instead, away from the bird feeders, and cover with a light layer of soil or mulch? I'd appreciate any advice you could give.
